I write this so my plight will not be someone elses. This card is a system killer.
I ordered one of these because i wanted to record my game play and make some montages. I havent done it in years so i wanted to start up again, but i just HAD to do it in HDMI.
This card has made me feel component will be JUST FINE!
First off, i didnt receive my HDMI cables yet so i tried it out on component.
Took about an hour to figure out why the hell i couldnt get the image to show up.
But eventually i did.
I did some test recordings on many settings. None of them came out right, They would start off fine when i played them back, but then it would speed up and the frames would be like they were on fast forward, and the audio would never sync up and would sound like it was in slow motion, getting deeper and deeper in pitch.
I messed with it for hours, different programs, different settings. nothing worked.
As it turns out the 360 transmits at 30 FPS. But the BMI card only lets you capture at 60FPS, so when it recorded a video it was playing it as if it were 60FPS making it look like it was on speed.
The options for this card are so damn limited, you cannot alter frame rates, only two compression types, Uncompressed, or compressed JPEG.
So thats not where the annoyance ends. I just bought my replacement xbox a week ago so i could get rid of the one i ghetto rigged for a month.
My HDMI cables came in and i spent hours trying to get those to work, but i never got it to work at all.
So i decided, Screw it and hooked it back up to my tv...except now i was not getting any image from the HDMI to my TV, its not the TV as my laptop works just fine on it. So the HDMI in my BRAND NEW xbox was dead.
I took it back to the store and got it exchanged, Came home and tried again.
20 minutes of messing with it, i gave up.
Hooked it back up to the TV and guess what, HDMI port...dead.
Did a search online, im not the only one with this problem.
This thing fries HDMI ports, so i opted to buy a slightly more expensive Component capture BOX with USB so i can just use it on my laptop instead of the desktop, I took out the BMI card, packaged it back up and am now selling it off to someone else who wants to deal with it.
Hell i found out to even get it to record right, you need FOUR hard drives set up in RAID to even get it to work correctly. None of this is mentioned in any of the requirements i saw before purchasing it.
So literally, stay the hell away from the Intensity pro card, its a system killer and a headache. Takin this box back after work tomorrow.
