Decided to camp this guy after maintenance, so I got my WHM/NIN all geared up and ready and logged out at the docks in Mhaura before maintenance started. When I got back on, while waiting for the boat to Selbina, I got to laugh at all the people thinking they could actually take the Al Zhabi boat, only to get kicked back into Mhaura as it zoned. :biggrin: Then, the first boat that came in, pirates spawned! However, Blackbeard did not, so I Teleport-Mea'ed and headed back to Mhaura. My hopes were still high, since I know Blackbeard is a lottery of the pirates on that route, so he could well spawn on the next attack. It took a few more rides (and laughing at people in Mhaura while waiting for them XD), but pirates finally attacked again. There was a group that I'm guessing was also after Blackbeard, considering one of them was a WHM wearing Reverend Mail, but when the pirates showed up and one had a Vermy Cloak, I got ready to claim with Flash, and I got him!
You can see the end of a Cure III there, since when I claimed him he opened with Waterga III. <.<;; It was a tough fight, one that consisted of me mostly trying to stay alive as I whacked away at him. At one point I managed to do a 710 Black Halo, followed by an Icarus Wing and a 625 Hexa Strike with a 625 Light. Sadly, those were my weakest WSs of the whole fight (later Hexa Strikes did between 800-950 damage), but it still took a signifigant chunk of his HP. I tried to MB Holy on the SC, but I got paralyzed by his Ice Spikes as the SC went off, and it ate Holy twice in a row. I used a Rice Dumpling at the start of the fight, since I had a few on me from leveling another job, and a Yagudo Drink. It was a tough fight, and at one point he had me below 80 HP from a 600+ Waterga III followed immediately by a 250+ Black Cloud, but I used Benediction and eventually took him down! :biggrin:
