Okay so in about 2 weeks my mom is going on another Nursing Assignment, and she's going to St. Albans(sp) Vermont, and that's about 20-30 min away from Canada, and near Montreal and Toronto etc, what I was wondering is...

Is there any Canadians here, that would be near~ the Montreal area, and would have any idea on wtf I should do while I'm in Canada, or where I should go... I'm trying to Convince Flamey to do something while I'm there :P

So if anyones up for something lemme know, or if ya got any clues, post~!!

When you get there, you can go to the airline agency and buy a next day ticket to America.

Montreal? Don't die in a car accident. Montreal drivers = scary. Toronto? Do everything.

Montreal? Er... go eat a smoked meat sammich.

That's all I can think of that's worthwhile in that barren asscrack of a city...

Eat Moose.

Seriously...

While you're at it, try some beaver...

JK. Haven't been back east since I was 2, but as far as I know every city always has some form of information center, you just need to stop in and ask them what the most popular tourist attractions are.. And yeah, seeing as you're in the Montreal area I highly recommend the Montreal smoked meat, t'is the best! The poutine in some of the restaurants that aren't "tourist" focused are usually good too.

You know, as a person who lived "near Montreal and Toronto" I have some sorta bad news. Like many Europeans, who expect to dash through Canda's cities, people assume they are "close" together. Montreal and Toronto are 4-5 hours apart driving on the 401 (always a scary prospect). Not a trip for the faint of heart. Everything in Canada is far apart, we gots land up here.

If you go to Montreal, Schwartz's Hebrew Deli is smoked meat Mecca. Go check out St. Catherine's and Crescent Street. Wednesdays are cheap martinis at New Town on Crescent. WInston Churchill's is a good pub, there's some great little jazz bars around the Vieux Porte (Old Port). And if you can, go on the Montreal Race weekend. Even if you don't like race cars, it is one insane weekend of parties out the ass. One year I ended up at a rave, followed by a club, followed by an afterhours place. I drove back to Ottawa after 16 hours of partying.

Nightlife: I always liked [SIZE=-1]Foufounes Electrique which is a really chill alternative/goth/rock/metal/industrial scene. Go there if you just don't care. There are ridiculous numbers of clubs to go to, just pick up the local free paper.

And anytime the sun is out, so are the babes. Montreal knows fashion, and they love to show it off.

Toronto on the other hand, is a big city, probably like any american city you've been to. Lots of suburbs, crazy freeways, gridlock for rush hour.

There is a vibrant Caribbean community there, check out Queen and King street, Yonge Street, Bloor is okay. For those in the know Yonge street is the longest continous street in North America, heads right up to the arctic. Stop following it before you leave the city.

If you can't find fun with directions like these, you aren't trying.

And this is where I come in. That's what you need to do ^.~ First off, here's the benefits:
  1. Drinking Age is only 18
  2. Strip clubs are all nude, and full contact. So "Try some Beaver"
  3. Am I mistaken if I say weed is legal there?
  4. Absinth. If you can drink, and I dunno if they have it there. But that is the shit. I dreamed of sleeping with a green jennifer aniston on that. I also drove to work, cuz I didn't really feel it I thought. I completely forgot everything I did at work, laughed away the day, and thought my buddy drove cuz I forgot that I did. Let's just say "Ride the Green Fairy" baby.

Not that I'm encouraging poor behavior of today's youth, but I am encouraging living life with it's there. :B Alcohol, Naked women, Breasties everywhere. If you're an 18 year old male, that will be your temporary utopia.

Try to get Bret Heart's autograph if you see him. But, buy him a beer! If you don't... your gonna remember the Sharpshot. ^^

LOL He lives in Calgary which is on the otherside of Canada. :D Like they said drinking age is 18 there, in Toronto it's 19, well since I left 5 years ago it was. I'm now in Manitoba. Born and raised in the Niagara area.

Foods to eat in Montreal: like they said the Smoke meat and Poutines are teh bomb!

If your over 18 you can have access to all the strip joints and casino's ooh plus it's legal to be topless there in the area of a beach so, that might be something you wanna check out if your a guy >.> lol. Montreal is a great place, just don't go any where else, in Quebec there not so English Speaking friendly there >.>

Have fun while your visiting our country and remember:"Welcome to our ool notice theres no P in it, lets keep it that way" and "Please don't litter" /bow.

BEST FOOD EVER!!
Seriously. Gravy+French Fries+Cheese. How the hell can that be bad? Sure it'll kill you someday, but you'll die with a big smile on your face.

I went to Toronto for an awards ceremony in the 9th grade, and we stayed at a condo a block away from Yonge. Being bored one day, I started walking down the street thinking I'd find something cool.

3 freakin' hours later, I still could only see endless distance...

But I did manage to stop by Muchmusic and chat with that african dude who used to host. We kicked back played some craps tapped some ho's, you know. Bidniss.

  1. BC's drinking age is 19; age to buy porn / cigarettes is 18. Honestly I thought all provinces were using those same rules aside from Alberta, but I could be very mistaken there.
  2. Full contact? None of the strip joints I've been to allow contact... and if they did, I'd want a full biohazard suit beforehand.
  3. Yes, you are. It's still illegal, just much less crackdown on it in the streets. It's very common to see people blazing on the streets though.
  4. I've had Absinth a few times, and it's always been just minorly more inducive than alcohol. I dunno if I have a resistance or simply don't react to it's hallucinogens, but I have never experienced any sort of high on it. Regardless, the official method of pouring it is unique and fun.

weed is not legal, however it is not a criminal offense to carry small quantities.
