BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

Well, BlazBlue IS coming to Europe... with more characters???

European fighter fans who haven't already imported Arc System Works' BlazBlue will be rewarded for their patience early next year, with exclusive characters and moves only available in the European release.

The release comes as a result of publisher PQube and Zen United, a consortium of Japanese and Asian developers targeting the European market. The title will be fully localized, with support for German, Italian, French, English, and Spanish, so just about everyone can be confused by the twisted storyline of this lovely little fighting game.

"The long running 2D fighting genre has seen a welcome boost in 2009 with updated versions of several franchises brought to Next Gen PS3 and 360 consoles" and Tomo Ohno, Head of Zen United, reported "BlazBlue reached number 1 in the Japanese arcades and already sales of the Japanese and US console versions have beaten forecasts".

The European PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release will feature bonus content, including a strategy guide and the game's soundtrack, and the announcement makes mention of "new gameplay content not available anywhere, like new characters and moves."

No word on what exclusive characters Europe will be getting, but it's definitely nice to see folks on that side of the pond getting rewarded for their patience. And for those of you who already bought it, there is no shame in rebuying.

... Does this mean that the US and Japan are getting these extra characters as DLC (which is a dick move) or will this be like one of those International versions of Final fantasy, only done for a fighting game, which is really stupid.

It's sayin' they are exclusive to the European release. However, I wouldn't doubt if they eventually show up as DLC for the already released versions. It's not really stupid if you think about it. I'd prefer to have had the game months in advance than havin' to wait as long as you guys have even if the new version comes with more characters. It also gives the Euro importers, which I bet are hefty in number, another reason to buy their version of the game.

Sucks for anyone on PS3 who e-bayed it...

I couldn't see Aksys keeping extra characters that they could gain some coin on via DLC from existing BlazBlue players.
I mean there're a bunch of BlazBluers that buy the color palette swaps via DLC, something tells me that extra characters would sell pretty well.

As far as Online matches go, I've received a bunch of nice messages for using Bang (Who is my main) and I've typically had a fun time with it all. FuRinKaZan is just so much fun.

I dunno if I'd call that worth the wait, as we got the same deal. Unless you guys get characters you got shafted :/

The arcade version of Continuum Shift was leaked a few weeks ago, anyway. Could just download and play that.

Speaking of Blazblue...does somoene have it for the PS3 who would be willing to help me out getting some trophies sometime? :D PM me please! :3

Bump. Couple things to note:

1) I finally got BlazBlue (The collectors edition which comes with an art book and a DVD on how to kick ass in this game, and was actually cheaper than the regular edition for me)

2) Sequel coming called BlazBlue: Continuum Shift coming this July.
