Do you send/accept blind invites? As a rule I always ask a person before inviting them; most people want to know what a party consists of anyway. As for accepting blind invites I usually never do, and when I do I send the person a /tell asking what the party is made up of and let it go from there.

-Ham

I dispise blind invites. Unfortunately, 75% of invites are still blind.

I always /sea all *** to see what they are, and then ask if they have a full pt. Doesn't matter though. I'd say that it is a 1/4 chance of being a good pt, and a 1/10 chance of being a great pt.

/sigh

I don't do it anymore cuz I'm static on whm now (pretty much anyway) ... but I used to literally put in my search comments "Please send tel before inviting ... blind invites will be declined."

Don't know for y'all how it'll work but for me it worked pretty much every time ...

Once in a blue moon...i always /sea <name of person> all before joining, but i rarely do. I search the name even when i shout for a group, but i have a PT macro yelling my <job> (looking for party) and then both in english and japanese...."Experienced players only plz" hehehe. works 85% of the time.

Blind invite = declined, for me. not all but some people still refuse to read search comments out there. I had one person start swearing/name calling at me in /tell (cant remember his name) becouse i declined his invite and i didnt tell him.

I used to get blind invites all the time and it was worse when I was a whm so I went and slapped my search comment on

<blind> <invite to join party> = <blacklist>
19 @ 1500 <experience points>
lvl 17-18 or 18-19 <party> <please.>

I accept blind invites to a point... when i dont want to make a PT and i'm in the lvl range of 10~33 ... it might not seem the greatest way to do things, but i figure if i accept a blind invite i can leave that PT at anytime without warning either. I have to admit during the valkrum stage if i have no static (if i do have a static i stay the hell away from that place) all i invite is blm or rng to nuke, and i'll blind invite blm who have no sj or are under rank3 just so i can get them into my PT, as it seems when i do ask they have already accepted someone else's blind invite...

I think i'm too "young" in this game to have really felt the pain of "blind invites". But my policy is clear :
--> When I make my parties : never ever send a blind invite, I think it's rude, even if the whole PT say "GRAB THAT ???(WHM, BLM, BRD choose the one you prefer) ... QUICK !!!".
--> When I look for parties : I sometimes accept blind invites but I check the party layout very carefully and leave if something seems crappy (this may change quickly since I'm leveling PLD and not WAR anymore).

I mainly had good experiences with blind invites ... but I think that was just luck ...

I got one in Qufim yesterday. Unfortunately accepted, got in a crappy party which barely got 1k in two hours. One of the wars didn't even know how to make a macro, and never provoked.
/sigh

I never send or accept blind invitations. If i get a blind invite, then i decline it (sometimes i might talk with the leader to see whats in the party, after doing a /sea all **** to see what they are first). If someone gets pissed, i tell them to read my search comments, becuase i clearly state "Blind invitations will be declined".

I too was sent a blind invite yesterday, i talked to the leader to see what they had (since invites are quite scarce for me). Since there was a ninja, white mage, black mage, red mage and warrior, i decided to give it a shot. Ended up dying becuase the ninja went to pull, and somehow engaged both a crawler and lizard (I think it might have been intentional, but don't know for sure, so i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt). Ended up training five lizards and 1-2 crawlers back to camp. 4-5 of the lizards aggroed me, and the entire party got killed in less than forty seconds. Then the white mage and i disbanded and warped back to our home point. Either the party disbanded or the leader kicked the ninja, since i saw him in jeuno not five minutes later with his flag up.

Depends on the situation for me. If I'm not seeking and I get a blind invite I think that's rather annoying. But if I'm seeking in Jueno and get an invite without asking me first I usually let it slide.

the only invite i hate getting, which i get A LOT, is when i am not seeking at all....People must think, since i am not seeking i want to party, no thats not it! i am just merely either going back to town, or running through the area...

I see nothing wrong with asking someone even if they aren't seeking ... and I don't mind it when asked ... for example today I was farming on my Warrior while waiting for everyone to log on for my static party ... I wasn't seeking but someone asked me if I wanted to party ... I just said no thank you and they said thanks for responding and it was a done deal ... not a big thing ...

Then there are times when I'm getting ready to seek and get an invite before I have a chance to put my flag up ... hey, works for me  ...

no no no, you misunderstood what i said, they dont even /tell me, they just invite, for some reason, you are able to invite people even while they are /anon, and/or not seeking

like when i was in San d'Oria, some person invited me, and i was like
"Please don't invite me, i don't want to party"
the person said "Well then don't have seek party on you ass!"
me: "what the hell are you talking about, its off, i am not seeking"
them: "THen how did i invite you, hmm?..pfft, newb"
me: "Its off, i even double checked, so you are just being stupid"

so its clear to me that you can invite people while they are not seeking...

Ohhh .... kay then ... sorry I misunderstood ... gotcha now  ...

This is kind of weird...

As a mage (I do all three either as main or sub jobs), I do get a lot of blind invites. I have accepted some and declined some. However, this may sound weird, but the few times I got blind invite to join Japanese parties, I actually felt pretty good :). These invites never work out because the Japanese leaders tend to form these parties in Jeuno while I am back at Windy doing things, but hey, how often do you get blind invite from Japanese parties?
