Blind invites?

Whenever I'm leader *I HATE Being leader* I always send a tell first but this usually means I lose the person I'm asking to someone who doesn't...I prefer getting a tell first but I will accept a blind invite. Especially after an hour of waiting for any sort of invite ;_;

Lol with blind invites I ask whos inthe party, how much of a lvl difference, and then decline anyways, I t hink so far I have been goodwith a few blind invites and joined cause people can easily replace a thf with something better.

heh... this really depends.

Nub zones: [Kazham or lower] accept blind invites, do a quick member list (oh shi full pt all the right jobs yay!!) or (lone guy rank1 no sub -_-;;;) stay in the former, leave the latter. I was invited without warning i have the right to leave within one minute of joining if i dislike the current setup.

After a certain point, 30ish, never have had a blind invite. Probably would still accept check it and stay/leave.

Heh in the dunes i send blinds all the time, quifm i usually ask, kazhm i usually ask. but in the dunes ppl either dont even know how to respond to my tell or have already accepted another invite by the time i finish typing so not really a choice. Also if the person has a seek comment i will ask, but hey if you dnt have a comment you obviously dont care do you :P

putting '(blind)(invite to join pt) no' just confuses the ppl on the other side of the autotrans imho, why make yourself look like a jerk? While it certainly isnt the most polite thing in the world to send a blind invite, cut the leader some slack. Of course if your an elitist i-only-pt-with-ppl-who-have-60+-jobs type person this wont apply

look out this kitty might blind invite you to the kick-butt-est pt of your career one day... why not take the chance and see? Are you THAT special that only ppl who are knee-scrapingly-polite can invite you to their group? If your a mage, have you ever even tried the leader role? Its not that easy. If you can count on your 2 hands the number of pt's youve made dont even bother saying your a leader, your NOT. its tiring and frustrating and ppl keep trying to bail when your almost ready to go, or that one key job isnt looking.

sure it may be a death trap, and if you have any skill in this game at all you should be able to see that from a simple memberlist. But thinking your better than that pt leader who blindly invited you isnt that impressive to me. Pat yourself on the back for making his life harder, but guess what, at least HE had the balls to get up and make a pt. Which if you have a seek tag on you obviously did not :P 8)

i used to accpet blind invites until i was on my way to a party in yhoator and got 3 on the way there :x really made me mad. now i just decline them, no questions asked

I like blind invites better than "hi - are you really a girl?" then when I say "ummm...yes?" THEN they invite me?! Sooooo shady.

I'm sorry but imo sending a blind invite at any level is tacky and rude ... it takes 2 seconds to use the auto-trans and say something to the affect of (and this is using the auto-trans) Hello Party Valkrum Dunes please? ...

What in the hell is so hard about that ... and yes I am leader alot of times but I mainly "help" out the leader by finding people ...

It has NOTHING to do with being "holier than thou" ... it's just common courtesy to send a tel first ... this is probably one of the reasons the Dunes is now dubbed n00btown since the release of PS2 ... y'all need to quit being so impatient and take the time be a tad more courteous to your fellow players ... and I'll probably get flamed for this but it's my opinion and you thinking that people are being stuck up really burns in my crawl ...

Are there any other ps2er's who are sick and TIRED of hearing how we ruined the game?! *sigh* How boring.

I am a very helpful player, infact - spend most of my time helping people. There is always something to whine about in this game - but whining and crying about the ps2er's is getting OLD.

Can't we b*tch about something new for a change?

TY.

Not whining ... stating a proven fact ... since the PS2 release 1/3 of the places we used to go to level are now ruined ... sucks but true ... you get maybe 1 good player in 4 (and that's being generous in the number quotient) ...

And btw ... when WE used to go to new places we LISTENED to our fellow players on how to be a better player ... we didn't act like half of y'all who tell us we're faggots or whatever for trying to help ...

And that my friend is what is really "gettin' old" ...

When I hear people complain about "The PS2-ers", I tend to listen with an optimistic filter.

I see the game being a victim of its own success. As we all know, FFXI is a *fantastic* game. I believe what the PS2 did was offer the game to a mass audience at one time. This audience is still gaining an appreciation of the game, it's courtesies, and by-laws (read: unwritten rules). Whenever you have a bunch (and I would classify the PS2 release a very large bunch) of newcomers to the game, this is going to happen. I am not saying it is a good thing, but I am sure that it will pass as the people who stick with it learn the rules, and those who don stick with it, leave.

I would like to be a fly on the Japanese wall when the North American release came out... I am sure that they were cursing us for ruining "their" game. I think it is the same argument, but in a different context.

I like to do my part each time I am on to mentor someone who is new, and help them out. I have made many friends in the game through my Linkshell (Coldfront in the hiz-OUSE!) and others that I have met. I cannot imagine what I would be like today if I did not have the mentorship early on....

Your thoughts?

The compassionate Tarutaru on his PS2 that sometimes shares too much...

Alright first off, who cares if people complain about the PS2 people. I am one and I know damn well they arent talking about me. They are right though. That is why I have started playing more around JP peak times and I love it. Dont need to say a word, everyone knows what to do. I do not party exclusively, but its fun to find out that I still suck sometimes ^^.

Blind invites....when I'm a job that doesnt get em, I accept. It's been a long time since I've played one of those jobs though. My last times throug have been Ninja, Ranger, White Mage, Bard, soon to be Black Mage. Those are all highly demanded jobs so I usually go through invites like water. Especially with bard its disgusting. Yes I do deserve to be treated special as I am obviously something you want, I expect some common decency. I lately try and follow the Japanese style more and more. I ALWAYS tell before I invite except for one case. When I am making a party and I see a sick party seeking like Rng, Pld, Blm, Whm, Blm, Nin....Im gonna invite all those people and then find who accepts and tell the rest why. Nowadays though I hang out in Jeuno more often than not. But when I get a blind invite there is only one case now other than desperation that I shall accept. That is if it is a Black Mage. Seems to be a shortage lately so if I get a blind invite i will /sea all (name) and if they are something like high rank or Black Mage, I will accept, otherwise later.

I put a comment up in Bard during NA peak hours. Said (blind)(invite to join party)(no thanks)...So i get a blind invite and a second later a /tell that say "whoops sorry"...lol made me crack up. I love bard....hearing as soon as you join the party "oohhhhh a bbaarrrrddd!1" is fun.

Im a WHM, and a good one even if I say so myself, I get blind invites all the time and, used to, decline them all.

I hate them !

But as others have said on this thread, you should check the pt that you have just been invited into. Sometimes I am recommended by other members in the group, I just dont know the person 'in charge' of the group who sent the blind invite.

I do however, advise that the person who sent the blind invite to shape up and give me some information on the group and where they are levelling. After all, Im the WHM, do what I say or I walk  (that was sarcasm by the way)

i hate getting blind invites if am not seeking but if am seeking and get invited i check the members and see if there are good jobs,
although i need invites so bad till am a pld =D
