well, without a blm they wouldn't likely be WINNING that particular KS30 run... you need a blm cause Bard's AoE isn't big enough, some escape and make trouble.... dunno why people still do it, SE nerfed the drop rates a long time ago... when i went on one of those runs blms died due to little things like a rng shooting slept mobs or a pld trying to tank... they earned the little money they made that day....

If you don't like the system, don't do an Odon style run... end of story

I'm going to post my few cents here (and have a look at what my new signature looks like on QCDN).

I think there are alot of people who are... 'cashing in' on black mage. People are seeing how black mages are doing divine might runs quicker than you can say OMFGWTFBBQ. These are the type of people that will potentially ruin black mage by getting a big nerf slapped over the black mage image and basically making us gimp, low hp high mp, pretty spell making people.

Having leveled my black mage into the 60's, I'm going to experiment with other jobs, because frankly, I'm tired of seeing other black mages that over nuke at any given oportunity, or who have the gimpest, lamest gear and wont even exp in normal partys: "manaburn only, sorry.".

But to answer your question, black mage is an incredibly diverse and useful job, when its used correctly and to it's full potential. Some people have yet to learn this and it's sad to think of black mage being next in line for the next nerf but it's time to face the music, since I can't say its probably not been through the minds of SE official's minds.

Again, this was another meaningless post by me which I drummed up as an excuse to look at my new spiffy sig and stare at it for hours.
Cheers
Blabj.

Any college student that brags on a game forum about how smart they are, how they are going to be a doctor, and continues to look the fool in almost all topics they get involved in is destined for greatness.

On a serious note, I know people in Medical School and they sure as hell don't have time to play video games or post on a video game forum for that matter. Something smells fishy here. If you are in fact a medical student then I do not think you are taking a full load or getting good marks.

You know guys, it's a good thing Peregrine is going to be a doctor. He can prescribe us all meds for the VDs we catch from having sex with his skank of a mom.

AH HA!!! Firestreak finally admits to having sex with farm animals!!!

How was padded caps wrong?

It increased the gil supply too fast and contributed to game inflation.

I don't think that had anything to do with it. Maybe it was around the clock campers monopilizing NMs. Possibly The fact that anything that you need to level a craft drops so rarely that you need to farm for 5 hours just to do 20 synths. How about greedy people selling things on the AC for way more than they're worth and dumb ass people paying it. Hell I did a test one time and sold 7 stacks of distilled water on the AC for 50 gil a bottle. Guess what I sold every stack. You know I only paid 10 gil a bottle. That is what caused inflation in this game..dumb people.

Peregrine you don't get it do you?

I'm going to spell it out for you.

Its going to be nice and easy ok?

NO ONE FUCKING CARES ABOUT YOU OR YOUR REAL LIFE

We are going to have a test on what we learned today next week okay class?

GTFO.

ehhhh, wrong! Inflation is caused by an influx of new currency, thereby decreasing the overall value of gil. Padded caps is the most notorious offender of this. Since you were getting the money from an NPC and not another player, it means that new currency was created in the system, and with people botting caps around the clock, money was introduced at an alarming rate.

This is was everything costs more or people don't value 50 gil now like they used to, gil is simply not worth as much.

Was everyone benifiting from the new gil? NO only the ones that went out and fished the rusty caps. It was the people making things cost more on the AC that did it. Buyers and sellers. Much as people think this is a economic system that works it never will. You can add 4,389,489,349,874,987,598,427,298,743,529,837,529,857 gil to the system and prices will still increase at pretty much the same rate that it has been increasing. People are greedy and I feel the only way to level it out is to make more items sold by npcs. Other than that everything is just going to get more expensive no matter what.

They people that had all this exorbinant amount of gil could now purchase the really nice stuff. Now suddenly there is an increased demand for something that used to take awhile to sell. When demand increases, and the inventory remains the same, the price increases as well, basic supply and demand. So now the crafters and NM hunters have more money. They buy more things, thereby continuing the cycle. Many start crafting with the extra cash. This causes supplies on crafting materials to go very low, which causes the price to go up. This will either raise the price of certain crafted things because the cost per synth went up, and lowers prices on others as the crafters are looking to dump their stuff. It also gives a new player more gil, because starter farmables have now shot through the roof. It's a vicious cycle.

Now some inflation was anticipated because of the quests and BM gil and new items, and I'm sure some of this was meant to compensate for the addition of new players as well. However, the padded cap phenomina really accelerated inflation.

Again ONE, and only one Blm holds runs like this that I know of, yet you persist in your spite against every Blm in this thread.

Did you miss your economics class in High School. It's basic stuff here.

More money in circulation = devaluation of current and any additional currency = need more money to buy stuff.

The reason things have gone up in price is because the value of a single gil is piddly compared to what it was. Theres too much gil sitting around.

Were you playing the game back during padded caps? Did you have rabao access then? I am guessing that you are answering no to at least the 2nd if not the first. Pretty much EVERYONE was fishing those caps up. Rabao lagged worse than lower jeuno, and do you know why? Because at all times you would have 100+ people fishing around one pool. Hell at times there was probably 500+.

Sure not everyone benefitted but i think the majority of people did.

Ok lets see here...I'm a level 52 WHM and 42 SAM and I've only played for about 30 days in the last 14 months...So yeah I've been around since leaping boots were 90k, and I started on Pandemonium(sp). My bro was on this server though so I came over to it. Padded caps were never that bad. maybe 100 people once in a blue moon but you had to have atleast a fishing level of 15 to even pull them up consistantly, and smithing level of what 32 I think. Hell I think I pulled up 100 rusty buckets to get 10 caps. Even if that was fast money you can make just about the same amount just buy pulling up regular fish in the same amount of time. Hell I stopped doing caps because of that fact and you get skillups from regular fishing. The only thing that pisses me off about the new fishing is that I can't level a mule while I hit my fishing macro cause you gotta pay attention now(and I lost a rouge rig the first time I triied the new style of fishing, that pissed me off too.) If that problem was solved then why are prices still increasing so much? Because of my theory. That greedy people are always going to want more money and dumb shits are always going to pay for it. Real life economics has no bearing in this game. If all gear/materials was sold by NPCs then I would agree with you, but it's not so eventually the system will break down and you won't even need gil. That is why I fish. Very little overhead and the biggest profit.
