Yes, it does. If an addict begs me for morphine, do you think I'm going to give it to them? That people are addicted to black mages winning the game for them is an indication of how much people need to be shown that they don't need to beg black mages. You aren't doing the server a favor by taking people's money and perpetuating the idea that they can't do it without a black mage doing it for them. You're sucking the life out of people who the blm mentality has already drained so much out of. They beg you to do the runs because the world tells them they can't do it. That they're not good enough. So they'll pay who the world tells them can.
It is damaging whether the meleer thanks you for the "opportunity" or not. They worked as hard as you did for those seals, but you get their cuts because of who you are? That's indentured servitude. Buying from the coal company store. You're the ones telling them they're not good enough. You're the ones ignoring them every time they say that they want to BC or KS. You're to blame for why they can't burn their seals because you're too busy making other blm's fat to even associate with a monk, and then you turn around and offer to burn their seals for a hefty fee because you argue that they otherwise wouldn't burn their seals. How WRONG is that? You won't bc with a sam and a monk as an equal (daveman in particular will, I know), but you'll take their cuts when they have no other choice. You stay quiet when they ask if anyone wants to bc so you can turn around 3 days later and ask who wants to pay you to help them. After all, why be their peer when you can charge them for it?
When the crickets start chirping after every meleer asks "Who wants to BC?" it's your fault in some small but at the same time MONUMENTAL way. All your seals are gone, spent on making other black mages fat. You stay silent and let the crickets drown them because it's not going to be YOU that wastes YOUR seals on a ****ing samurai. No, not you. You value your seals too much to be going in with a thief. So you let the crickets drown them out over and over, and then you wonder why one day they're desperate enough to pay you to BC. You say that they should organize runs when you never had to. You say that they should get friends to help when you never had to. When you ask, "Who wants to BC?" you get an avalance. When they ask, they get crickets because you all won't party with them. You'd rather party with other black mages and make the rest of the people so desperate to make use of the seals that they're piling up that they come knocking at your door when you're the one who already turned them away and they don't even see it.
It's one big ****ing dystopia, and at the center of it is the black mage mentality. They can't burn their seals because you refuse to burn with them. Then because you refuse to burn with them, they resort to paying you to burn with them. Telling a meleer to form their own team and do it themselves is like telling a Janitor to go get a degree. Are you that blind? Your words are meaningless as you sit there from a privileged vantage. They can't. You didn't work harder than they did, and they CAN NOT do what you flippantly tell them to. It's not that simple, because the system is beating the life out of them.
If it were that simple, people wouldn't be begging you to do BCs. If it were as simple as forming your own party, they wouldn't be paying you, and Odon wouldn't have 2 cents to his name. You're breaking them, and then charging them for the remedy. It's disgusting. And you don't even see how much damage to the game that you've done.
No matter. The developers will hopefully fix it, because the offenders will surely not stop until every last dime is theirs because of who they are and not how hard they work. You found a way, you say. A way to make money. You're little more than a crack dealer preying off the disadvantaged and discriminated. A cigarette company targeting inner-city blacks with a black box with a big X on the front because you know black inner-city youths don't smoke like white suburbans.
It's a social nightmare, and that someone with as much integrity as Daveman can't see how damaging it is to the server, I don't see much hope in players coming to their senses. So nerf away, square. It's come to that.
