Blm's have one of the easiest jobs, how can they still suck?

Snipers rings and Haubys aren't questable, guess I should've waited till later to get them?

Ya right. I quested/farmed things to sell on AH and developed a plan to sustain a level of comfort as well as aquire the NECESSARY equipment to do my job to its full ability.

When I leveled NIN is when I changed my views on the spell Erase. I learned that a WHM without it is a waste of time, and every invite I got I spefically asked if the WHM had it. Bats, spiders beetles, Antica, and other XP mobs require that spell to be casted on the NIN and a lot of those mobs are fought at lower levels.

There are plenty of quests you can accomplish for your job to use, and even more that can be used for other jobs that you can sell now and complete your main job.

Everyone needs to quit making excuses about how hard it is for thier job to make gil, but I bet I can name one person for every job that is extremely successful, just for BLM look at Odon or Akron off the top of my head.

See now 90% of you are right, a spell is a spell. If you CAN"T buy it then quest it. I mean we do have event board on here don't we??? Or farm the gil. Hell read up on BCNMs or ENMs they are easy and some pay out really nice. So personaly i don't think any job has the right to bitch about not having a spell, or something(unless its a vermy -.- XD). I won't lie i DO bitch about the prices of spells but i end up buying/questing them anyway.

Exactly. Stop being lazy craps and do your job! You have time for partying and stuff, but no time to get spells (or level a subjob)?? Give me a break!

Warp II isn't easy to obtain solo at lv40.

Solo is hard, but Duo is possible, I did itat lvl 40 about little less than 2 years ago, it was tough, but possible, I don't buy stuff I can obtain for free.

I know the drain and warp quests aren't difficult, so it bugs me more when blms and drks in the case of drain dont have these spells. Ok they may not make much of a difference but it's not difficult to get them, if you're going to be lazy about getting your spells you aren't going to make a good <job>.

Starting blm's have an exception as I think you need a decent amount of fame to quest these. If i'm wrong i'm sorry.

The whole point of leveling is to become stronger and more versitile. New spells give you that power, especially with a mage. Without having ALL spells available at your level, you are a gimp. PERIOD. Parties depend on that warp and assume you have it, then dont bother to waste CP on a scroll or gil on a cudgel. Imagine a level 35 bard without ballad cause "I cant afford it". Pfft ---> /kick.

At level 70 a bit ago I encountered a tarutaru monk with AF and 3 STR rings. I didn't decide to then respond by flaming monks. The point being you're going to get a range of skill and equipment for every job you encounter. There are very few things I'd call a requirement for any job. Ninjas need Utsusemi, whitemages need raise 1-3, cure 1-5 and haste. Blackmages need all their single target nukes except for ancient magic. Paladins need some sort of heavy armor. Everyone needs a functional and capped subjob. The rest, is personal preference. It's my preference to have much more, and my preference to party with people who have much more, but having every spell and having expensive gear is a good trait to look for but has never been expected in a level-up situation. Maybe people like to talk big and boast of it, and the general QCDN community has all that stuff, but in all the time I've played I've never had a WHM and assumed they had erase. Never assumed a Ninja has a scorpion harness. Never assumed a BLM had d2 before 50. Never assumed melees have prism powders and oils.

I simply assume the very basics, like my ninjas will have utsusemi and allow myself to be surprised when people play decently. If you take that stance you'll be a lot happier and able to enjoy the game as a game.

Note: I'm not saying you shouldn't strive to have more, I'm simply pointing out what you can realistically expect in a pickup party. The only time I ever flame people it's for lack of morals not gear. I just sometimes happen to point out when they go together(which is often because people with bad gear tend to be selfish... but then people with really really good gear do too sometimes).

To be honest, Scorpion Harness isn't much of an improvement over Temple Cyclas. And if they're wearring life belt, 3 STR rings is fine.

Hmmm, I'm a level 24 BLM at the moment. Just wondering what spell are a MUST have for BLM's. My main job is DRK and I have all the spells for my DRK at my current level. Any suggestions? Don't flame my ass if I posted this and it doesn't belong here.

</sorry>

Okay okay okay... Since we're on the topic of equipment right now anyway (kinda), I just gotta say I saw the most unbelievable thing today. This WHM was attacking as if she had Hundred Fists, but her equip was Noble's Tunic. I had no idea what the hell was going on. So I gave her a little /check, and wouldn't you know it KRAKEN CLUB. Every 5 seconds she'd use Hexa Strike. I was in utter amazement. She had every piece of equipment I'd ever DREAM of having. Kraken Club, Divine Shield, Noble's Tunic, Heirarch Belt, Blessed Pumps and pants. I asked her where she got the money for it. Her response was that she camped Lord of Onzozo for the Club, and did HNMs and BCNMs for everything else.

Any mage that doesn't know every spell they can learn isn't worth the dirt they stand on.

EXACTLY, i mean whats the point of being a MAGE is you don't have spells that you need. even if your low lvl you can farm silk threads and so on, and BCNMs any person can do at lvl 20 and give a sweet reward. Personaly i'll stop lvling till i can get a certain spell that i know is NEEDED.

The BLM in the first story is obviously retarded, we should cut him some slack, as even retarded people need to be able to play video games to stir their minds.

Is there a Retard LS out there that's looking for members?

I love mage flames.... so much fun.

I say in the case of being a BLM, you dont need every spell listed for a Black Mage to learn in the Auction house. To me the most important are single-target, enfeebs, elemental debuffs, Drain Stun, Aspir, the AOEs, Warp, Warp II, Escape, Sleepga II, Freeze Flare and maybe Burst and Flood.

I think I DID just name 90% of them XD

Quake and Tornado are the LEAST used spells of my entire list.

There really isnt any excuse for not having the essentials in my opinion. Whether you have the gil or not you can always farm. That seems to be the recurring theme of this post. If you cant nail a Magic burst, Learn. Simple as that. If Distortion is the SC and it takes 4-7 secs to cast the appropriate ice/water spell, learn how early in advance to cast the freakin spell. That's how all Black mages learn. Trial and error. Learn what works and what does not work best for you party. Be prepared for whatever comes. No one has to keep you in their party just cause you still cant get Magic bursts right after lvl 50.

For white mages, some of the teleport quest were a little insane. BEtter off buying the stupid scrolls.

*cough* erase

:( This one was super expensive when I wanted to buy it with my white mage in the 30's... wasn't happening. I didn't have the time to farm for that kind of money to keep up with my gear, food and my static's schedule. Cuz.. whm's make such awesome DD's when farming v.v Now keep in mind I wasn't totally gimp those levels. I had all my other spells and great gear to top it. At level 40 my static parties turned into bcnm 40's to help me get my scroll.

*Drumroll* 13 BCNM 40 Runs... no Erase. Sure we got plenty of survival belts and Utsesmi: Ni scrolls... (so bitter...) Even though we didn't get the drop, the money we made off of our other runs I banked up and by about level 41 or so I finally was able to buy my erase scroll. I was happy that I was able to earn it through fighting and not straight up farming... farming with a lvl 30.. little less any lvl white mage isn't much fun.. curse you hammer of not great justice!!! you mock my pain o_o

I think it is your duty to get the scrolls you need. It's like saying a melee doesn't have the right level weapon for his level or only being half armored.

That wasn't a flame btw, Firestreak ;) But I can feel for people like myself who would rather quest for their items than buy even if they have to do it a couple levels later.

One thing tho... It IS easy to quest Warp II. Seriously. Yes, the quest can be a bit of a pain with all the sneaking about, but so what? It's not much worse in that regard than most of the Teleport quests.

Wish I had a cool group like that ; ;

Warp 2 is an easy enough question... eventually. Let's not forget... by your first level 40 job, the chances are very low you have the teleport-vazhl crystal. I can simply say, it's a good thing when I was a level 40 BLM, it was so long ago the scroll barely costed a thing from the AH. I highly doubt with my knowledge at the time of the game I'd have been able to complete that quest without a lot of help(there wasn't much help available at the time anyway, not online maps to check or little allakazham quest guides).

So I'm generally understanding until level 50. By level 50 BLM can sneak and invisible themselves. A BLM can defend itself easily by using sleep and stun defensively and will have to travel to the northlands anyway to get the crystal for doing Genkai 2. As well, G1 tends to weed out a few of the extremely casual players.

So if you want to say BLM need d2 or they are total crap by 40, I'll say then a THF should have empress hairpin at 24 and those boots(whatever their name is now) by their first XP PT. Both is entirely possible, but neither is often true for 90% of the players you will encounter. So I don't see the reason to focus hatred versus BLMs... except that some BLMs here are naturally competitive and would like to boast how they are better, and some other jobs here are spiteful of the BLM job in general.

Point being: Nobody ever flames dragoons, even though many think the dragoon reputation is shot because of many poor players who played that job(versus me who thinks it needs some serious work post 60). People have a chip on their shoulder and they sit there, watching jobs they feel jealous of waiting for one of them to screw up, so that they can flame the bunch of them. Then people make slanderous remarks about a job they clearly have little understanding of(anyone who says BLM is one of the easiest jobs has either never played BLM or doesn't play it nearly to its potential) and attempts to hold it to a higher standard than every other job.

Why do BRDs suck? I had one once who couldn't seperate melee and mage songs even when we were standing in the right position. He stood between them when casting not in front and behind. All BRDs must suck! Can't tell you how many paladins I've had who voked once a minute at most. How about WHMs that go afk mid party. You know 90% of the WHMs I've had don't cure status affects unless you beg them. And I don't think I've ever seen any job leave a party at the drop of a hat quite like WHMs.

Perhaps the reason so many BLMs "suck" is that so many of the other jobs have just as low standards and people like us are the real minority. I'd rather feel pride in being a cut above the rest than anger at them for not being the same as me.

A sucky blm can always replace an elite war who does his job.So this iis the way it is lol
