There is no "if" Ame, you're at fault. You're exploiting the blogs loser rule-set and quickly becoming the reason they may be removed. So you would basically, because of your actions and your flame-baiting, be taken away from people who use them honestly to talk and rant about life or otherwise. Because of you.

I am by no means someone that wants to hate on you. I am more a person that wants to help you see what you're doing wrong and perhaps steer you in a direction to where you could fix this problem. What you're doing is just spiraling down into childish bullshit. "I'm not baiting, I'm not naming names, but I'm practically describing said person to an exact detailed reference, but its not baiting!". That is so childish! Just STOP. Really. Stop.

Stop acting like you did nothing wrong when you knowingly used exact descriptions of people, knowingly described situations and knowingly baited them with passive-aggressive insults in plain sight where their friends could see; thus provoking any and all incidents. NO ONE is begging to seek Amy. You are BEGGING for them to seek you. That is pitifully obvious by your actions.

It is my express opinion that this member be removed from the userbase to prevent further incidents, for the good of the community and for the good of the user themselves.

I said many times. I am not innocent. I never said I was. I just didnt take what I was saying as serious as others did. If I had said some of the things in person, it probably wouldnt have had the effect it did as much as it did in text.

Im not defending it. Im saying I didnt know it was as hurtful as it was to him. I thought he was just being a jerk and crying about about someone teasing him. Thats not the case, He felt attacked and abused.


When I think about if He wrote about me what I wrote about him, I myself, wouldn't be hurt by it. I'd just laugh it off. If thats the worst someone can say about me. I'll be ok.

I didn't take the blogs down because im being questioned. I took them down because I dont want hurt anyones feelings. Thats fucked up.

Then you took them down for the wrong reasons. I'm not hurt by them, but if you want to trade insults, then be ready to TRADE not just give. I'm not hurt, so quit apologizing, jesus christ, lol. If anyone was hurt, its clearly you because you can't handle shit talk after you start it.

At this risk of baiting, you're not nearly important enough nor do you matter enough to my game time to have my feelings hurt by you. I always have time to talk shit, but not to get butthurt over stuff you say that makes yourself look ignorant. Apologize to me all you want, but its not me you should be apologizing to. Even if it was, you're too disingenuine to accept. Its clear why you're taking the mature route now.

This is really getting off topic now, which I hate. Like someone else said, there doesn't need to be much more discussion anymore until a moderator posts. Its clear something needs to be done about blogs, so thats that.
 
Can we keep the argument in the flame please. This thread is to talk about what should be done with blogs ;|

Alot of people shouldn't be getting involved to begin with, much less making demands. Especially commenting on blogs that are just so, if not more offending than Amerie's, and commenting that something shouldn't be moderated.

That said, no one here is scot free. Blogs were made that were baiting and other blogs were made that baited it return. The staff has never catered to the "but they started it" argument, and it isn't going to start. When Aud and Miros were on staff, we decided that with the abilities to limit who views your blogs, this wouldn't become a huge problem.

I guess Arc and I will have to have a little chat about this feature's future. Hopefully this won't continue to be a problem and go the way of the reputation system. What i really don't want to do is have to start trolling blogs, to check for baits, because there probably won't be edits.
 
Flameboard musings:
As an early mod, I favored completely open Flameboard with RL information restrictions -- all the way down to supporting freedom of speech at the expense of my personal convictions. My thinking? It was a flameboard afterall and people should be able to go somewhere and not be serious, not worry, just speak.

Then, my ideas matured a little. I realized QCDN, as a whole, was better off if the flameboard was limited. So, we started enforcing rules against slurs. Then we paved the way for Audino to further increase the content value of the flameboard as he saw fit -- good bye PC +1 fests, despite the few that surely perpetuate from day to day. The flameboard is still a place to which you may bring your rants, anger, and other concerns. Its evolution, in my opinion is nothing short of perfect. It now works for QCDN as a whole and not a collection of categories for Quetz.

Blogs
It is the minority walking on the majority again. There have been questionably few "bad apples" in the mix. Please, don't think mods and admins have been idly watching with no discussion. Makelith and I could not quite wrap our heads around how we wanted to handle them.

None of the blog entries have been "zomg" intense, but a couple, from a couple users have certainly been chalked full of flames. I have certainly failed in regard to my post.

That said... mods will not be looking the other way towards flamebaiting in blogs. I would have liked the blogs to work as a way to vent, events, fun times, random rl shit, objective frustrations, not accusations or propaganda.



You can expect for blogs: (not final, just my current idea)
A very (un)arbitrary, depending on how cynical you are, judgment of the whole message of the blog -- not just 1 or 2 excerpts User A points out in User B's blog because User A hates User B. I feel Makelith and I can judge the content fairly objectively in this regard.

If your post seems like it fits the bill, go ahead and post it. I'm not even asking you to PM us to see if its ok when you're curious, because frankly for an automated system -- that's idiotic. If its a grey area that we find to be too flame happy, we'll copy and paste it to you in a PM, and ask you to try again. If it is clearly a flamefest, we'll consider warnings/infractions at that point -- likely infractions only on repeat offenders.

If blogs are made such that only sunshine and flowers can meet the bar, the blog system will be removed.
 
To be honest, I really don't want you guys to remove them, I enjoyed reading about the people who actually used the blog properly and within the rules, I may be coming in a bit late to this topic but I really do hope you just don't scrap them...well since alot of people put an effort into writing those good blog posts.

One reason I didn't really continue blog posting is because like many other people have stated, the top 10 recent blog posts would mainly be one user and alot of the 1-2 hour old blogs were no where to be seen. a Limit implementation seems good in my opinion but I'm not sure how you'd be able to implement it.

Its unlikely we will remove the system. However, it becomes pointless if people are afraid to post anything that touches on negative emotion. It is even more pointless if it starts smelling of daisies and daffodils because blogs aren't just for sunshiny posts.

Shit happens we know this, but there is a difference in saying something irritating happened in game and User X is a cockwaffle.

Well, the big thing is tact which clearly some people lack and it can't really be taught. It's a really clear line between venting and deliberately trying to provoke people into drama and ugliness. It's all in the context.

I don't think anyone's looking for roses and sunshine or a lack of negative emotion, I think they're looking for some sense of respect and personal responsibility. And it didn't seem to be an issue prior to the one most recently prolific contributer so with their departure, it's probably now a moot point anyway.
 
It's kinda like Zyn stated...people weren't being very tactful over what they wrote, there are certain ways you can get your point across without being such an asshole....


good example:

I bumped into Zyndara today, and although we have a history of not getting along the party went smoothly and although I still don't know if we're on good terms or not, it was still a fun day in game.


Bad example:

So I was invited into a party with that Bitch who shall not be named, the thing is I can't even remember what I did to the whore and she still holds this grudge against me...so she says she'll stay in the party as long as I keep my mouth shut, well I have news for you bitch I want those experience points too.

although certain people wouldn't know who I was talking about, it would be clear as day to the person, I'm referring to them in the post.

There are certain ways of handling things and venting...people just need to grow up and be mature about it.

And zyn know that I love you and just used it as an example...
 
Don't know if this has been mentioned already as I can't be bothered to read through 6 pages. But why not just remove the people who are causing the problems from the blog feature? I think it will be a shame that a small group of people that can't be sensible about things should ruin it for everybody else.
 
Eh, it could be done and will when necessary from this point forward. The problem developed due to our (staff) refusal to tackle the blog problems early on. Instead they festered.
