Blondes have more fun but Redheads...

Erm... a good sense of humor and a nice personality will get you laid every time.

Red-haired women are gorgeous, green eyes or not. I have darker auburn hair, very shiny with a ton of red in it. It works, yeah. Red-haired men? Meh, idk. Never really seen a true red man other than a ginger.

Dark redheads are smoking, but the ones where their hair is orange is no no no lol.

i agree, but i have yet to find a non-bitch red head.

I don't know too many red heads but the only one I knew while growing up was a major bitch, then again she was pretty hot so probably had something to do with it lol.

Blue eyes are kind of freaky. Those people with black hair and blue eyes? I can't look at them. It's like their eyes are piercing into my soul and stabbing it as they talk to me.

But Nycon's eyes are an exception...

Unfortunately yes=/ I knew a girl in high school for about 2 years as close friends that I kinda liked. She was great and but just her slight "butchness" (using that lightly in lack of a better word) just got to me lol.

Really light blue eyes are creepy, reminds me of Gollum.

Every (which was probably like...four) redhead girl I knew was good-looking, but slutty. Every redhead guy I knew was more the carrot top kind and a complete dork. Go figure.

Also, for some reason a lot of black guys I've met love blue eyes. Don't ask me why.

omghow
Dark hair + dark blue eyes = dreeeeaaammyyy

depends on how it is cal, i can imagine a not so attractive woman with blue eyes and a really hot one lol

Apparently it's not only Redheads that will be extinct. Real blondes will as well because of mixed hair colour in parents. Hair colour will all end up dark brown / black. :( Stupid dominant genes. I used to have white hair, then strawberry blonde. It has finally settled on Blonde. Also have blue eyes while both of my parents eyes are green.

Being blonde is overrated

Oh please, which one of these brothers do you think gets laid more.
(I'm not the ginger)

Also the Ginger gene is going to go extinct in a bit considering the shortage of redheads there are now.

because redhead men are on the bottom of the food chain, women like dem po black boys now=D

Good to know the red hair gene is going to phase out. My grandmother is half Irish and god forbid my kids come out with red hair, dark skin and green eyes lol.

It's strange bc with the celts it's just as common to have very dark features as it is the lighter red features.

In August 2007, many news organizations reported that redheads or "gingers," as our British and Australian friends call them, would eventually become extinct. Other news outlets and blogs picked up the story, citing the "Oxford Hair Foundation" or "genetic scientists" who claimed that there would be no more redheads by as early as 2060 [source: The Courier Mail]. It turns out that all those people were wrong. Redheads are here to stay and should be around well beyond 2060.

The story of redhead extinction has gone around the Internet before, most recently in 2005, with news articles again citing the Oxford Hair Foundation as a source. These articles work on the mistaken assumption that recessive genes -- like the one for red hair -- can "die out." Recessive genes can become rare but don't disappear completely unless everyone carrying that gene dies or fails to reproduce. So while red hair may remain rare, enough people carry the gene that, barring global catastrophe, redheads should continue to appear for some time.

Some of the articles discussing redhead extinction referred to the Oxford Hair Foundation as an "independent" institute or research foundation, but a Google search shows that the Oxford Hair Foundation is funded by Proctor & Gamble, makers of numerous beauty products -- including red hair dye.

In the most recent wave of redhead extinction warnings, some news outlets incorrectly cited the September 2007 issue of National Geographic as the source of the extinction claims. Others, correctly, cited that issue of National Geographic for the statistics it presented in a short piece on redheads. In fact, the National Geographic story provided some data about red hair in the world population, but it only said that "news reports" have claimed that redheads were going extinct [source: National Geographic]. The piece did not explicitly back the claim. Instead, the article stated that "while redheads may decline, the potential for red isn't going away" [source: National Geographic]. Unfortunately the misconception about disappearing redheads is now widespread.

Experts who have been interviewed agree that the redhead extinction claim is bogus. David Pearce from the University of Rochester Medical Center told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle in 2005 -- after the last round of redhead extinction news -- that the scientists behind the original claim should "check their calculator" [source: Seattle Times]. Rick Sturm, a researcher in hair and skin genetics at the University of Queensland, told the Australian Broadcasting Company that "there's no shortage of red-heads" and that the Oxford Hair Foundation didn't provide sufficient scientific evidence to prove its findings [source: ABC Canberra].

Red hair is caused by a mutation in the MC1R gene. It's also a recessive trait, so it takes both parents passing on a mutated version of the MC1R gene to produce a redheaded child. Because it's a recessive trait, red hair can easily skip a generation. It can then reappear after skipping one or more generations if both parents, no matter their hair color, carry the red hair gene.

If the redhead story sounds familiar to you, it might be because, according to some people, they're not the only endangered hair color. On the next page, we'll talk about the plight of blondes.

I'm more inclined to believe this although I've seen articles express the same and contradicting results from researchers. Being a redhead you tend to get more people tell you about the redheads in their family. Like I said before, I thought my sister and I were the only red heads left in the family and then at our family reunion there was a ton of red headed children. I really doubt that we're going to die out. Like twins it usually skips a generation or two. Considering how many people there are in the world right now and only being 2% of the population isn't that bad.

Being that both parents have to have to either be a red head or be a carrier, it's just less common. Being that Tristam and I both have some Celtic roots and that his brother was born with red hair, we could very well have red haired children. My dad has dark brown hair while my mom has brown with auburn tinted hair. My twin sister and I are both red heads and our brother has brown hair. Red hair has and will probably always will be a rare hair color.

In my own experience, I have seen more red heads dye their hair instead of keeping it natural due to being picked on, harrassed, or just not liking their hair color. Nicole Kidman is a prime example.

I do think it's funny that this news has inspired website like http://redhedd.com/ and red haired dating websites. It seems like red heads are too stubborn to die out. XD

I only mentioned dark skin since I'm from Guam, and thought that combo with our natural skin tone would be terrible.

Also, God forbid my kids kids kids don't have to deal with another Carrot Top.
