Bloody Penitent's Ropes

For ages, Penitent's Ropes were a million gil. For ages I was saving for one. Today I make the million gil mark. I go to buy a Penitent Rope, and the price has been singlehandedly hijacked to 2.5 million gil - all in the course of a few mins. I'm sure there's nothing technically "wrong" with this, but I'm furious and I can't vent in my LS as much as I want to. You'd think a plan like that would backfire, and noone would pay the new retarded price, but there are plenty of retarded people with more gil than they deserve, so I'm thinking it might actually work. Damn it. I'll either bcnm 60 for it or go without it. If there's any good in the world, the price will return to normal. Thus, I'm not holding my breath.

Anyways I forsee lots of people trying to sell their ropes for like 2.5million to make some quick money, lots of rope on AH, prices will probably drop - however I don't think it'll drop back to a million like they were, unless no one tries to make money from selling the rope that high.

do what i did and dont get it +5 int and -2 enmity (i think thats the stats) is not worth 2.5 mil and its not really worth 1 mil either. i would pay about 200k-300k for this item, no more.

i was a very gimpy blm till about 70 when i started getting some good gear. and no matter how much i spent i was just not impressed with the gear. +5 int will not help u very much and enmity shouldnt be a big problem at that lvl.

If there was a better waist-gear after it, I'd agree. However, the Penitent's Rope for a Taru is the final waiste equip. There's nothing better. I've decided to hold my money till 60. My LS static is willing to BCNM 60. My LS has 2 other BLMs that also need this rope. I have almost 400 seals. They have a comparable amount. Provided I get a belt in BCNM 60, I'm going to use my million to buy a pretty cool Sapient's Cape. I'm a Blm that happens to think highly of -enmity gear. Every mage has their stat preferences. -Enmity comes after MA Bonus in my oppinion. Definitely before Int anyway. I was hesitant about even posting this thread, because I've repeatedly said that I have no problems raising the price on things I sell if there aren't any left and I have the opportunity. It's almost a case of the pot calling the kettle black, except that the degree is wildly different. This was just malicious.

I would prefer this belt later. +mpHeal will net you more dmg than +5 int and you get errant at 72 with loads -enimity. If you can wait, there is a better belt and quite cheap in comparison.

Nah, this is the only belt I wear now on my whm. But then, I don't need any of the boosts from the penitent's rope anyways.

Someone already posted on this earlier. For the most part, penitent ropes is the best waist gear for blms but whms would be better off with more +mp or mp while resting. The -enmity isn't that necessary as you should already have around -10 enmity from AF.

I suggest trying your luck on the BCNM if you really want the rope. I reread some of the Allakhazam site(the link to it is in the above link) and its about 50% drop rate from a lvl 60 BCNM so probably well worth the time to test it out. If you read the postings below, someone also gives a very detailed explanation of the BC fight and is almost guaranteed to work.

I bought that thing for 800k, and last I checked, it was 2.2M. Thats just wrong.

Someone must've introduced another belt into the mix. I too just got my rope for an even million. While I'm still annoyed at the attempt to further ruin the economy, at least the damage is undone. Honestly, I was positive that the next buyer would pay the 2.5 million, and the new price would be set in stone. I was talking to Sabia not too long after I made the thread, and she mentioned a similar price-jacking on a tunic or something not too long ago that did stay. At least I don't have to organize a bcnm 60.
