Blu/Drk seems very possible

So i recently unlocked Blue Mage and was thinking of what to sub... my highest level currently is Dark Knight at 55, the other highest are only 30 or less.

I was figuring Dark Knight gives you a bit of extra MP (prolly not more than blm or whm) BUT it eventually gives you attack bonuses

Also... looking at the magic while i was capping... and while its still pretty low compared to Blue Magic, Dark Magic is his second best it seems.

So to me it seems this combo could be quite good.


any thoughts?
 
Yea, level RDM and screw BLU. lol. Just kidding.

I still would think you would get much more MP from a mage job rather than a Hybrid job like DRK or PLD.

Attack Bonus is nice, but I think you would benefiet more from a Clear Mind trait or even Subtle Blow without having to waste your magic slots.
 
Many subs for blu.. And drk is not one. Att does nothing for our spells. I am 68blu atm. Have subbed. THF for great dmg, NIN for great dmg also and cannon set up, WAR I tanked for pt in 60s, and WHM I have healed for pt in 50s-60s. I have yet to try but will this week, RDM for certain things along with BLM. And am very interested in trying MNK sub for heat breath.. 1/2 HP for DMG... but drk... no reason at all do I see need for it..
 
Souleater stacks with Physical blue magic, and /DRK I've read, can parse up with /THF. But as for job traits, BLU can make their own with different spell combinations. My BLU is 67, and I have various subs available, but I definitely perfer /THF right now, but I found /NIN to be more effective till around 40-45.
 
but isnt /nin strongest 74+? or 50+?
 
Just don't sub drk lol... enough ppl think blu is gimp allready with so many terrible blus out there. Lvl the proper subs and prepare for the job.. Don't go in subless/clueless.

That's funny, I wasn't aware that Blue Mage had been around long enough for a "proper subjob" mindset to solidify yet.
 
i could see drk as being a slightly strange subjob that if played right with blu, could possibly work out to be alright.

Have you lvled blu? Been in a pt with a blu? There is no "proper" sub.. But thf nin whm are for obvious reasons best. Thf and nin for sure. Any thing else like whm or war call for certain situations like heal or tanking. So please tell me what situation drk sub would be half way decent. Att does NOTHING for spell dmg making drks att bonuses useless and last resort useless. And souleater I doubt stacks with physical spells. And even if it will... why die or waste hp for small dmg boost when nin sub offers safety and low mp cost from mages healing.

I used blu/drk to 30, but I soloed. It wasn't too bad. But beyond that I think there are better options

Except BLU's damage output isn't only from their spells, part of it is from their melee too, yes I agree there are better subs, but /DRK has it's uses, and yes SE does stack with phys spells. /WAR is a better spell for enhanced DoT though, double attack, berserk(lasting longer than LR) etc, but don't knock other subs.
 
point is there are better subs.. more needed subs...

The issue was you directly contradicted yourself. First you said that there were no "proper subs" yet, then you said thf, nin and whm were the best. You really can't have it both ways.
 
I haven't been around much but to think BLU gets off easy with stunning mobs easily. Could BLU/DRK possibly be a good stun gun combo?
 
Even so -- it expands that 80 count spell(s) to 81! Woot~
