Let's say you were about to join a blu cannon static with no single tank.

blu x4
rdm
brd

How long can blu/war tank? I think I remember hearing that it gets tougher post-40.

blu/nin is, from all I remember, a bad idea.

Would it be best for everyone to go blu/thf, smash the mobs as hard as possible, and just rely on heavily curing themselves and eachother?

blu/nin might not be the best idea if youre in a normal pt, but if its mostly pure blu, then nin would be a great idea. I would minimize a whole lot of the damage, and just let them tear through anything without stopping

i know almost nothing about the blue mage job. i've almost always seen blu/nin in exp parties. why is that a bad idea?

i've heard their physical spells can be sata'd so i can see how /thf is liked. i dont get why /nin would be bad. honest question.

I haven't even unlocked blu yet but from all I've heard, blu subbing nin is like drk subbing nin. Severe impediment to their output.

BLU subbing NIN is like every other job that subs it:

"Can't touch this"

THF is for the DMG increased with SA on Physical Spells. ^^

ya you get absolutely no benefits from subbing nin, other than the "cant touch this" hahah. But in a blu cannon pt, thats what youre gonna want. Blu are very good DD, but they kinda lack on the def side, unless you spam cocoon, or unless all four blu's spam head butt one after another hahah

speaking of which, DRK makes a very good sub post 60 (but /thf is still more liked because of trick attack) but with /drk you get souleater which DOES stack on all physical spells, making you an unstoppable force

I subbed NIN to BLU till around 50 when the higher damage spells were available and /THF became a better option.

I tanked around Lv40 in a few parties, though BLU isn't the greatest tank, as long as you can keep the mob stunned long enough to keep up Utsusemi, you're golden.

DAMN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!

now i have MC. Hammer stuck in my head.

What if we were to go 2 Blu's /nin and 2 /thf? Later on around lvl 60(yeah long ways away I know) we can duo the SaTa.

that would probably work very well

I'm still 28 /whm seems to help my pt out best I'll use thf when i get 30+ and maybe nin when I'm 50+

its just me but i'd rather not trade more options for some shadows and another weapon when my damage comes from my magic

In all blu party (with rdm brd) I found /nin was the best. I went out and got 9k exp in under an hour easily at lvl 60 in one of these parties, all the blu (including myself) were /nin. If you're chaining lower mobs for high chains, there is very little reason to sub thf.

Even though i really really hate /nin on blu before around 70+, i think i'd say in a 4 blu, rdm, brd pt /nin would be best. But its not the only option. With 4 blu's there should be timed headbutts, just one after another, and the mob would never even be able to move. This is how i got body slam...11 blu's spamming head butt, the thing maybe attacked 4 times a fight.
