Did this game release yesterday? I know the demo was lacking alot imo. Has anyone here bought it ,and could give a small review so far?

ive had it for a couple weeks. Demo doesnt do it justice, its a decent rpg, 3 discs long.
It has its annoying points such as the boss battle music and the crazy obsession with poo. i stopped playing to play bioshock like 2 days after i got blue dragon.
so i cant say much beyond that since im still early in the game. But so far, its a great rpg.

Was released today, odd I know. I picked up my copy and the guide and I sure hope the game is longer than the guide shows... 300 pages mostly filled with pictures, they might as well call it an artbook. A lot of people have been goin' off about how it's suppose to be some huge 60-70 hour game but I'm not buyin' it anymore. It's fun as hell though :D

Awesome! I think alot of people bash it because of it's hype. Since I didnt overhype it, Im sure ill enjoy it lol.

yeah dont take the hype. Its an awesome rpg, with eternal sonata coming in at a close second we finally have some decent rpgs on the box.

I'm glad to get back to a game with a turn based battle system. As of late so many RPGs have gone with the free action system and to be honest if I wanted that I'd play an action game. That's definitely a plus. Aside from that, it has the same feel as the good FF (good doesn't include X, X-2, or 12. They are somewhat enjoyable but definatly not as good as the rest.) games to me. Good ol' simple, strategic fun. The only qualm I have with the game thus far is I don't have a HD T.V. and the menus text is hard to read at times. Kind of silly they didn't take into consideration not all of us care about ownin' a HD T.V.

They are merely one persons opinion of the game. I can think of a number of reviews I disagree with. Like FF 12. Everywhere it got a really high score. As far as I'm concerned the game is only decent at best. Had I reviewed it, I would have probably pissed a lot of folks off.

As for that boss fight song... I kind of like it. Sure it's a knock off power metal tune but man it's just awesome in the game for its comic relief alone. I actually started singin' it earlier >.> I tell you though, I can't wait for someone to put out a grim RPG and throw in some black/death metal. Bawls.

As someone who works for GameSpot, I can tell you some crazy stories about people overreacting to reviews. We've actually had to get the law to go after a few people who sent death threats to not only reviewers but members of their family as well. It's insane how worked up people get over stupid shit like that.

As for BD, the demo did nothing for me but my brother liked it so he bought the game. He's playing it now and I'm kinda watching off and on and it looks okay. Really is a huge obsession with poop though for some reason.

So I'm about 5 hours in and at the end of the Hospital ruins. It just hit me I need to work on some of my other shadow skills and start really prepping for my final party set-up decision. Probably goin' to go with a Sword Master, Monk, Assassin front row with a White Mage and Black Mage back row. Yep, I like it traditional ;) As far as shadow skills go I'm looking for all of my members to have Generalist up to at least 18 for the +9 skill slots and +3 accessory slots. All of my front rows to have Monk at least to 7 for Counter Attack Boost. My two in the back vary a bit though with my WHM going for a Barrier Secondary (not sure how high) and BLM to 8 for MP regen. For my BLM I'm takin' on the task of spending her time with Support Magic as it seems it should be pretty high for doin' any real effects toward the end. At least that's the game plan for now. If I find you can max everyones shadow skill jobs while progressing the story and keeping it somewhat difficult, I'll probably do that. Anyway, with Chasym already a good portion through and some of you others just startin', I'd like to hear what your plans are for character development and group setup.

It's a pretty decent RPG. As people have said, a weird fascination with shit, and you need to dig through it to get your rewards like gold and such. Music is pretty good, boss music can use a little work. The coolest part about this game so far is the beginning where you are running around when the title screen appears.

And as far as it being 3 discs, I am surprised. It seems like it would be this long epic game, but I don't see what can possibly happen that would necessitate it going that long. Maybe just a shitload of sidequests, but the main story doesn't seem like it will take too long unless there are some major plot twists.

And one other thing, the beginning seemed pretty quickly paced, but it seems to have slowed down a few hours into it. I hope it picks back up.

anyone else think the boss music guy sounds like the guy who does the team america theme?

lol You had to say that, didn't you? Now even if it doesn't sound much like him, it will be the only thing I hear now lol

lol it made it less annoying and more funny for me, it gets stuck in my head...and the voices matched up in some way when i thought about it. Cant help it now! lol

Anyone know what happens when you beat the story line? I can't quite figure out yet if you can free roam and complete side quest or not. The guide has the ultimate equip boss fights and all of that at the end of the guide after beatin' Nene the final time but it's linked so it looks like you beat Nene then go after them. It's killin' me D:

It's Ian Gillan of Deep Purple fame who sings that obnoxious boss theme.

It's getting some very mixed reviews. Game Informer gave it a 9 I think, but GameSpot and Gametrailers.com gave it lower ratings. I wasn't too impressed with the demo though, so I think I'll pass on this one for now. I already have two RPGs I'm playing (Wild ARMs 5 and Persona 3), so the next one I plan to get is Eternal Sonata. I really do love how Toriyama's artwork progressed into 3D. Makes me want to go play Chrono Trigger again for the billionth time.

I've had my copy for 2 day nows and haven't had a chance to play it! Damn school!.

Anyway, yeah gamespot is tough on games anyway. Game Informer is my source for reviews. They gave it a 9/10. To me, they've always been closest to my likes. To me, they are always spot on. If you read 30 different reviews on this game, some would have almost perfect and some would have it mediocre. Thats not a bad sign actually.

I hear you about ffxii. It was a good game, but had nothing on the snes and playstation ff's. It's story was really straightforward and to me the characters didnt have great development. I happened to like X alot though. IX was my favorite and people (i get criticized by the strictly vii and viii crew).

I was left wonderin' after the demo too and planned to go your route. However, I was bored on Wednesday afternoon and decided to pick it up. I can't put the game down. The demo did this game no justice what-so-ever. I had been playin' Persona 3 for a few days up until this point and lovin' it but this game takes the cake easily. Persona 3 is goin' to have to wait a bit longer, possibly until I finish up Eternal Sonata. This game and Eternal Sonata are goin' to set me back big time on all of my just started and half beaten RPG s.

The main character Shu annoys the hell out of me. I am keeping with it but seriously he needs to shut his self righteous mouth, did they purposely have to create a young loud mouth character who thinks he can do anything cause he wants to? Including being an absolute dipshit to everyone?

Yeah since im only, lvl 10 and the main classes of my dragons are only lvl 12, i'm thinking of starting over and using the japenese voice overs. Shu's voice annoys the hell out of me too.
