I switch alot between blm and blu,
and it kinda disturbs me that i have to re-input the blu spell list everytime.
i was wondering if this could be bound with a macro or so?

Also wondering what spell setup u guys like to use, because of the job traits :)

There currently is no way to set spells via macros. The only way BLU spells can be set is though the menus.
As for traits, I typically like to keep Auto-Refresh, Conserve MP, and Accuracy Bonus on all the time. If I can squeeze it in, I'll also try to throw in an Attack Bonus. Everything else in my opinion is situational.

Yeah, it used to drive me insane but I've just gotten used to it now. I would hope that SE will at some point address it, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

The only advice I can give you to make it easier is to organize your spell list so the spells you set the most often are at the top of the magic list, but then again when you're in the process of leveling another job that uses magic it can be annoying because then you can't auto-sort your magic list without resetting the order you've set for your blue magic.

Doesn't auto-sort only sort one type of magic at a time? He'd have to actually go back in to blue magic and hit "auto" for it to mess it up again.

Yeah, there's no way, unfortunately. I wish SE would make it so that whatever spells you had set before you changed jobs would automatically be set again when you change back. Don't see any reason why they couldn't....

What Gannon said, auto refresh, conserve mp, accuracy bonus. The rest I normally put towards str +

If you select it with the main menu, and then pick a specific discipline, yes. If you use the ctrl/alt + m, then sort it, it sorts all disciplines.

As for job traits, I do the same as the others above, unless I'm doing something off of the beaten path, like main-healing.

Head Butt
Frenetic Rip
Hysteric Barrage
Disseverment
Chaotic Eye
Refueling
Plasma Charge
Poison Breath
Awful Eye
Magic Fruit
Actinic Burst
Zephyr Mantel

My set for soloing imps, gives me:
Acc bonus
Conserve MP
Auto-Refresh
Clear Mind I

I don't use attack bonus on them because they shouldn't last long enough for you to get more then a few sword swings in. I sub NIN for this setup. I have heard of BLUs subbing WHM, in which case, you would not need Clear Mind (P. Breath and Awful Eye).

Anything where I plan to be meleeing more, I set Battle Dance and Uppercut for attack bonus, removing Clear Mind set and Hysteric Barrage (I also add something else, varies depending on situation). Outside JT's, my 2 "always set" spells are Head Butt and Magic Fruit. Just a personal preference, I like having stun and cure 4 available to me at all times.

For spells, aside from certain special circumstances, my general setup will look something like this:

Head Butt
Sheep Song (if I have room for it)
Screwdriver (rarely, for Evasion Bonus w/Hysteric Barrage)
Chaotic Eye
MP Drainkiss (will leave this out if I know I won't be fighting anything aspir-able)
Refueling
Magic Fruit
Frenetic Rip
Zephyr Mantle/Frost Breath/Firespit (whichever I have points for; this is to activate Conserve MP along with Chaotic Eye)
Hysteric Barrage
Disseverment
Actinic Burst
Plasma Charge
Exuviation (if I have room for it)

For the record, I have one Assimilation merit, so I have 46 set points. And I'm always /NIN. So as far as job traits go, I get Auto Refresh, Accuracy Bonus, and Conserve MP.

question about assimilation...is it worth it 1 point increase just seems too small to me unless there are some good spells that you can't fit in normally but that'd require more points than what max assimilation would give

It's 1 point per merit in it, for a max of 5. Though for cost, it goes 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> 5 -> 5. So it'd be 22 merits to get it maxed. I meritted it because there were already plenty of times when I would be setting spells and be like "Crap.... if only I had 1 more point..." As for whether it is worth it... that's up to the individual, I'd say. Personally, I'm gonna definitely finish Physical Potency (4/5 done already), and possibly Magical Accuracy (2/5 done), before I put anymore points in Assimilation. And considering I also have other jobs to be spending my merits on... it'll likely be a long, long time before I ever get to capping out Assimilation.

Lol, I think every BLU has said this at one point. I wasn't going to merit it when it capped at 3, but now that it caps at 5, I probably will. You can always find more spells to set, especially with SE introducing new ones with some updates. Regurgitation is a very good spell, with the right setup. It can do very good dmg/mp for a magical spell, binds (and appears to knock-back), and has good stats, all for 1 point.

Yeah, Regurgitation is the spell I set when I only have 1 point left. It's nice to have a magical damage spell to use either when weakened or on mobs really resistant/immune to physical damage.

*takes notes cuz he is lvling BLU*
