Pretty hard to tell without knowing what and when BLU's will get in terms of spells. It sounds like it could be very powerful, who knows. Maybe it will be overpowerful and then nerfed like a week later >.> The whol custimization of the job sounds very intruiging though, possibly making every BLU different.

If it's on a shorter recast than thundaga III, yes. If not, no.

If it's on a 3 minute recast like Chi Blast, then lol.

And interesting note, 1000 needles is a plantoid type move, thus strong to beasts, and Kirin is a beast.

As of right now there is no job that is over-powerful. There never was a job that was over-powerful. I don't think that blue mage will be. I voted no.

You also forget to factor in Blue Mages set-points. 1000 needles will obviously use up a lot of these points, leaving little room for other useful abilities. The fact that the job works like that is an automatic no, as they'd have to trade off a lot, just to get a 1000 HP damage move.

I voted no because by the time Blue Mage likely learns 1k Needles, 1k damage from other jobs such as Blms and Smns will be commonplace. 1k needles would be overpowered in a one on one PvP environment which given the only PvP options available at the moment and their team nature is hardly a grievous concern. 1k Needles when a Blue Mage uses it will likely be AOE and thus only be practical in the same situations as a Blm Aga spell (lest the damage be reduced proportionately like a cactuar vs a pt), and in higher levels, much less damaging (aga 3 spells do 1200+ routinely).

Yes, but it being plantoid vs beast wouldn't be increasing the str of it, nor the acc, if it is an always "guaranteed" 1k damage. Maybe there's a chance of some of the 1k needles missing, thus the acc would help.

BLU Mage DM > BLM DM!

Pre-emptive strike! Nerf the bastards!!!!

How? 5 AA's, each 1k needles would only do 200 to them, unless they spread em out. Or are you just being sarcastic? ><

I don't think it will be all that powerful, given the nature of 1000 needles. By the time you would likely be able to use it you'd be moving into a lot of the camps that have other mobs nearby. Not only would it not do a lot of damage towards the mob you're targetting, but it would link all the other mobs in the area.

PVP wise, sort of the same thing. You'd hit a few people for like 250 damage, which really isn't a whole lot by the time you would likely be able to use it.

Even w/ our limited knowledge of the class, I'm pretty confident saying it will not be overpowered. Since they only have a set number of spells to equip at any given time, I wouldn't expect to see any BLU w/ just the "leetest" spells.

IMO this job will the have the worst noobs to date. DRG and DRK just swing at shit, for BLU to be effective you need to know your beasts resists and weaknesses, this will of couse lead to people NOT knowing it and therefore fuck it up.
It'll probably be a kin to SMN on paper, looks great on paper, will be a big explosion of people playing it when it lands, then most dropping it when they find out it's not invincable.

To the person who said he would have 1k needles... Yea BLMs have spells that do over 1k damage as well. They go throwing em around they tend to die.

Any job that has the abreviation BUM is gonna suck. I come to this conclusion because BLM is already taken. I will enjoy using hell dive though.

*points to all the folks using the abbreviation BLU in other threads* >_>

With the current limited info on blue mage, I vote for too powerful.

Mostly if thay allow blue mages to learn abilitys like 1k needles, dark spore, (both ignore Defence I bleave). or hekt eyes paralize.

And if you look at how BLU is set up... Very likely you wont' be able to cast 1000 Needles, and Dark Spore (HP based move, which is why it hits so hard, kinda like Spirits Within) at the same time. I'm sure I'm not the only guy on the planet who realizes that half the reason these moves hit so hard is because it's an Incredibly Tough attacking? Seriously, go find an EP with <whatever potentially unbalancing move here> and get hit a few times with it. Chances are you'll still be alive, because of the level gap.

Personally, I'd be a bit more worried about Blaster than any other paralyze in the game. <_<
