If you have a full manaburn party, go -ga kill some wamoura princes. It's much better exp once your puller gets the hang of it, and there's rarely competition since there's a couple good camps to do it at, and the solo/small groups don't exp at them.

After fully reading this thread, I was going to post the exact same thing ... but you beat me to it, and I bow to you.


Honestly, I tend to get a little irked any time I approach the flan area and see a full party of black mages there at all. Staying fully on-topic with this thread, yes ... the BoL interlopers were clearly being lil' bastards, and yes ... Shmedly's party certainly had more of a "claim" to the area. I would submit, however, that there's at least a quarter as much justification for getting angry at a full black mage burn at the camp as there is as for getting angry at an admittedly more ridiculous TP burn. Why?

1) The infamous flan camp, at Mount Zhayolm, is the absolute best solo spot for black mage in the game. A full burn party, on the other hand, can do just as well (or better) at one of the several wamoura camps ... especially with some form of support. Leave flans to soloers, please.

2) Flans can actually easily support about six+ soloers, while even a party of four or five can ruin it for absolutely anyone else. If you want to cannon with other BLMs, do the sensible and considerate thing, and STICK TO WAMOURA.

3) While a black mage can solo either wamoura or flan (or a myriad of other things, really), there's just about NOTHING that can equal what we can do on our own with those delicious ebony puddings. A black mage burn, however, that can perform as well in several other areas in the zone, is just exhibiting either laziness or ignorance when they insist on sticking to the "solo spot." Honestly, when plopping your arrogant ass down is going to seriously castrate the experience rate of four or five soloers, when you could have easily just gone somewhere else in the same zone for BETTER experience, or at least something "about the same" ... just leave the damn soloers alone, and move YOURSELF. Even if there are no soloers present, a wiser course of action would entail leaving it alone for those that are definitely going to come along LATER. Puddings are excellent for soloers, and decent for parties. Wamoura are decent for parties, and mediocre for soloers.

If you've got six people, please ... just leave the damn spot already.



Of course, this is just my opinion. I'd go so far as to say that an "unwritten rule of courtesy" ... something community-enforced and known server-wide ... would make me very happy. I know this is not going to happen, however, and even my limited personal experience has led me to realize that a good 50% of the black mages at Mount Zhayolm aren't even aware that there are alternatives beyond the "one" flan camp and the "one" wamoura area outside of the gate.

Bearing that in mind, when I arrive and find a full burn party at the puddings, clearly established, I do get irked ... but I respect it, and move on to the far-more irritating wamoura myself. I wish they would have done so themselves, before they even had a chance to force potential soloers to do so ... but they likely intended well, and they were there first. I'm not going to force my point of view down their throats, or start something over it.



When a party comes and plops their asses down on TOP of me, however, and start trying to outpull me to "force" me out ... well, I'm generally too tired to start a fight over it, but I certainly make an effort to remember the names.




Please, guys ... if you're gonna burn, don't even BOTHER with the puddings. Just think of all the drama you could avoid. ;)

i searched for u like a long time after i had that incident with your guys and i never could find you; they told me i should talk to you. i dunno if ur the ldr or w/e but if you are. you should check what ur shell has been doin every so often. but then again im sure none of them told u what they did to me ;/
 
OP, yeah Valmung's a fuckhole. Houdyny seems ok but lacks a lot of judgement. Val's a given. It's just what he is. I was in an xp party
w/Houdyny and it was a complete nightmare. He was a BLM, I was BLU. We
were kicking ass and killing fast. He decides he wants to slow everything
down to a complete crawl so he can look cool. He sleeps the crawler (green)
in Aysweneenddene Subjternenern (Hate SE's names for zones). And starts
casting this long ass magic that takes years to cast. I got tired of it and
made sure the crawler had a nice Poison Breath on it every pull.


Val and I sorta have an agreement to leave eachother alone in game. Ie: I
don't bother him and he wont' bother me. It's nice to see that he's still a jerk
to everyone else and it's not just me he does this to.

BOL real winners. /sarcasm
 
Question to Winklewill, where are the Wamoura camps? (position to be exact)

I don't tend to join manaburns, but the odd occasion I do (as RDM) and I wasn't aware of alternative camps and would like to suggest these in the future if they yield just as good of xp as the flans.

You know, I'm not sure of the exact positions ... so I'm going to go look them up, do a bit of fingerpainting, and post a map for you with the ones I know of marked out.


I can tell you that at least two camps (more like one big camp, but can support two groups, at opposite ends) can be found just past the ebony puddings. Head past the initial path the Halvung zone line, where most people usually sit when they're doing flans. When you hit the wall, there should be another little tunnel in the corner there. Head down that way (sneak for the hecteyes), and you'll find the "second" wamoura camp. You can either camp right at the tunnel entrance, which is less preferable (bomb cluster spawns very close, and has to be dealt with), or head across that whole area to *another* zone line at the other side.

Plenty of spawns to go around. This is a little-used area, and is usually where I head to when I get my flan spot "stolen" by three manaburns coming in at once.
 
Slight derail but I just saw Cycloalkane's name in here as lead or co-lead of BOL.
Ok, that doesn't suprise me. See I only have about 5 people on my /blist and
Cycloalkane made the list long ago. I didn't know he was part of that group.
Man oh man it's like everyone I have a problem with is a BOL member. Funny
that they keep saying it's "New" and "Changed" when it's just a new bunch of
cocks.


I responded to a shout for assaults and made a mistake. PFC and PSC.. got
mixed up. At the time, I was a PSC and they were shouting for PFC. They
were all polite and understanding except this guy. He was a complete douche
to me. All I did was "waste his time" to a small mixup. I apollogized to the
group and put that guy on the list.

My falling out with Valmung was little by little but the last straw was him
overcamping me. It seems he has a flair for that. It doesn't matter to him
if he's first, second, or last to the area. Somehow it's his spot and he'll
camp.


Sorry OP you ran into the group. CC's happen Dunno what to say except
that I sympathise with you.
 
Ahh, I haven't ventured that far but I think I know where you're talking about. I'll have to check that out the next time I do manaburn. And if you don't mind PMing me the map you make up, i'd appreciate that too (unless you end up posting it)

Here, he's labeled the "one-and-only" flan camp in blue. This is the area everybody and their dog knows about ... and, unfortunately, many tend to never learn anything more about the zone. Keep in mind that this spot can support either many soloers, at the absolute best rate of experience available to them ... or one party, at a pretty good rate ... that's it. No more

Four possible wamoura camps, however, are marked in red. Almost everyone, again, knows of the one just inside of the Halvung gates, so you'll typically see a party, or a few soloers. The other ones, however, seem to go largely unsung. I think it's also important to note that at least a couple of these camps are capable of supporting more people than the one flan area. Again, as I understand it, a party can actually do better with the nasty lil' roaches than they can with the puddings, if they know how to approach things.

This isn't the case with soloers. You can certainly stay afloat on the bugs, but your best bet is always the flans.
 
Describe this -aga strategy on Wamouras. How many do you gather at once? Whats the XP yield / hour?

Not many people do it, so maybe if we change the collective BLM thinking, everyone wouldn't ruin it for the soloers.
