This is a question that tears movie lovers apart...

Who was the best Bond?

-and as a followup,

What was the best Bond movie?

Pierce Brosnan. Goldfinger.

That is my opinion. What is yours?

Pierce, followed closely by Sean Connery.

Movie: I've always been fond of "Live and Let Die".

Theme Song: Duran Duran - A View To A Kill

Sean Connery - Tough choice here I can't really decide whether its Dr. No or Thunderball.

Best Character name though is Pussy Galore

Pierce Brosnan. Goldeneye.

Sean Bean as 006, Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp and the sexy Izabella Scorupco. Don't forget about Robbie Coltrane and Alan Cumming.
Amazing cast and great movie.

P.S.
"I am invincible!"

Ok.. best bond ever was by far imo Sean Connery.

As far as movie though.. i would have to toss my vote towards "A view to a kill"

Goldeneye is my number two.

Sean Connery was a great bond, but i think Pierce was that much better. He's a lot more suave too.

Best bond movie would probably be Dr. No for me. I love that movie.

Pierce, Goldeneye. Not only because I grew up playing the game, but it was just pure sex (and the first one i saw). I do like Daniel Craig though and Casino Royal was tight, especially the beginning.

Favourite Bond is Connery followed by Brosnan. Connery is the original Bond.

Favourite movie is You only live twice, followed by Goldeneye.

I cant believe that there is no love for Roger Moore... He is second in my book but all of my favorite bond movies featured him

I agree totally about him being the 2nd best; but Dr. No and Thunderball really are my favorites.

I don't have enough James Bond cred to answer the question with any authority, but I've greatly enjoyed hauling out the Roger Moore card and slapping it down with perverse glee in front of the Connery fanboys at work. I've never watched a Connery-as-Bond flick, but I never confess that part to them. It's more fun watching them sputter in disbelief.

Pierce Brosnan is better, but Daniel Craig won me over.

Brosnan may have been a bit more suave, but he lacked the whole tough-as-nails thing. Daniel Craig really pulled that off in Casino Royale.

Overall, it's hard for me to pick a single 'best' Bond. They all had their own style.

Connery, Brosnan, Moore, in that order
Also, You Only Live Twice. And then i'm undecided between Diamonds are forever, Goldfinger, and Goldeneye.

Casino Royale was too long imo, but Craig does make a pretty good Bond. My favorite Bond though is Sean Connery and Dr. No is probably my favorite.

Keep in mind too that Casino Royale is the first bond movie, according to overall bond time line, its kind of like Craig was restarting bond and bond needed to learn some shit like not to fall in love and not be as soft, etc. The end scene though, where he owns mr.white and walks up with the ump is just sick. Its like a new start for bond, which is why i'm looking forward to Quantum of Solace (next movie, comes out Nov 7. US). He should be a little more hardcore and I think its gonna be up there as one of, if not the, best bond films. Also now that craig has the character down more and could see where he could improve over the last film will make it that much better. Apparently hes doing alot more stunt work and this film has alot more action. Check the behind the scenes deal on IMDB Here its pretty interesting.

I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond, and Casino Royale is the best Bond film. I think that Bond movies were getting a little too crazy with gadgets and villains. The earlier Bond films were a bit more down to earth. Also, the Brosnan era Bond turned more Rambo than anything else. He spent more time in combat fatigues with an automatic rifle than in a suit with a silenced ppk. Bond is a spy and not a commando, and I'm glad Casino Royale returned to mystery and intrigue as a spy movie should.

I think Casino Royale and Craig are the best. I have read one of the original Bond books, and it was not only a deep, interesting experience but it felt mostly like Casino Royale. The previous movies have been a fun romp I was always willing to see in the theaters, but they didn't have the same level of sophistication on the plot.

The earlier Bond actors did a good job of playing Bond off as a suave badass, but the original Bond was actually more like Craig plays him, which is to say imperfect but under pressure entirely focused and cunning.

I don't know how Brosnan or Connery would have played Bond had that gotten as good of a script as Craig got, only that he hit it out of the park.

Surprisingly, nobody has mentioned Peter Sellers as Bond in the *original* "Casino Royale" (1967).
