The past week, my creative streak seems to be more entwined towards D&D rather than other things I've been wanting to work on. Thankfully, the inclination has not been without some decent return. I have, in my mind, successfully created AD&D 2nd Ed. versions of both Blue Mage and Scholar, which have I have dubbed Fiend Warlock and Magical Tactician, respectively. I feel as those these two prestige (yes, prestige for 2nd - meaning you have to earn them) classes are quite good.
Blue Mage aka Fiend Warlock
Scholar aka Magical Tactician
Any sort of input from those who have played AD&D 2nd Ed. would be greatly appreciated, for the sake of balance. However, do keep in mind these are prestige classes that must be actually sought after in-campaign and must be earned through diligent means. Also, suggestions or thoughts on creating other Final Fantasy classes into AD&D 2nd Ed. equivalents would be great. I have developed Corsair and Dragoon into classes for it, but I have yet to type them up on my computer, as I wrote them out on paper. ^^; Thanks!

It looks pretty well-done to me, though i'd like to see them expanded upon. If you need any help designing the other jobs, I'd be more than happy to lend my 20-or-so-years of expertise to the pot!

I'll recheck this after work tonight.. hmm...
Out of curiosity, what sort of expansion upon these jobs would you be interested in seeing? Anything in particular? As for regards to assistance, sounds good to me. ^^; And in the most earnest sense of the words, if I do run into any troubles, concerns, or just plain wish to have some input while in the creation process, I will try to remember and ask for your help - along with the others I've been talking to about it offline. Figured I'd at least be honest. Thanks! ^-^
Do keep in mind that any jobs will have to be adjusted for the sake of the AD&D world, in general (due to campaigns varying from DM to DM). Also, any already existing classes would not be able to be made, in my personal opinion (i.e. Priest, Paladin, Fighter, Ranger, etc, etc). Obviously, there is a slight boundary in what I might be able to create, but I will still try. ^-^

This is for 2nd Ed AD&D, right? (my favorite!) I've created a number of classes on my own (Hell and Heavenly Knights from FFT, Geomancer, Vampire Hunter, yadayada) and some races, its totally fun and I like keeping them within logic in the game, not going to make them outrageously powerful or anything. I no longer play 2nd edition ;_; but I still love it and think its the best. THAC0 RULES.

Yes, indeed these are for 2nd Ed., since it's the only edition I have books and PDF files for. ^-^; I do hope that these prestige classes are well balanced with respect to their capabilities. That's my main concern here. Also, I did just a little bit of tweaking to them the past couple nights.. Nothing huge, but mostly to the Magical Tactician. Of course, without having memorized or copied the original files I uploaded within two hours of me having done so.. you wouldn't notice a different. ^^; Anyway.
I got bored at work and determined which FF classes had no essential AD&D 2nd Ed. equivalent: Red Mage, Puppetmaster, and Dancer. Dancer has a close equal in the Bladesinger, but that deals with using blades and movement to increase evasion and damage, rather than sorcery-like dances. Also, Red Mage has a near equal in that of a War Wizard, but they only deal in mage spells and not priest spells - though they do have decent melee capability to back up their spell casting. Puppetmaster, however, does not seem to have anything relatively similar in 2nd Edition. All in all, I might go through my books and files to see what all sorts of kits and what-not there are that would be similar to these three classes.. if there's nothing truly like them, I'll make 'em. If not.. well.. oh well. ^^; Every other FFXI class has a rough equivalent that is either pre-made through a kit of the PH or I have made myself (Corsair, Dragoon, Blue Mage, and Scholar).
I think I'll just stick to the FFXI jobs, though, in that they would be the easiest to modify to adhere to 2nd Edition rather than trying to compile all the info for other classes from other FF games. ^^; But that's just me. Again, any input is greatly appreciated... Thanks again!

Oh, and I agree with THAC0 being much better. I tried out 3rd edition.. couldn't fully get the hang of it. I did eventually get used to it, but I still honestly prefer the complexity, mental-prowess-requiring rules and methods, and the all-around goodness that is 2nd Edition. But that's just my opinion. ^^

Well for Dancer, I believe the specialty priest kit for worshippers of the Drow Goddess Eilistraee were called Blade Dancers, or something close to that. I cant seem to find my Demihuman Deities book at the moment; but they had some attacks that worked off of 'dances', it could be a good template to start with and just build from there.

For Red Mage, I could see a multiclassed Wizard/Cleric, with a few flavorful abilities thrown into the mix to balance it out. Ability to use a short sword, for instance. Give them 2 weapon and 4 nonweapon at level 1, and let them pick from the Wizard and Priest section of the PHB. Make it so they can only pick from certain schools of magic and certain spheres of influence. Maybe the spheres of: Elemental, Healing and Protection. Let the schools of magic be: Invocation/Evocation, Abjuration and Alteration. It wouldnt be over powered but you get some pick of the litter spells.

Puppet master is a little trickier, but you could always say its a monk with a magically enchanted golem lol. The golem has a spell that allows it to mimic its user? You can always make new spells too, you know, as long as its good with your dm. And if youre the DM, well... lol.

Hmm... certainly sounds like it could work.
I'll look through my PDF files for the stuff about the Blade Dancer or whatever it is that it's actually called. ^^; If necessary, I may just up and create it none-the-less.
As for a dual-class Mage/Priest, according to the PH, only Half-Elves may become Cleric/Mage or Fighter/Cleric/Mage, which the latter would probably be the most equivalent to that of a Red Mage. However, I may see about tweaking that to basically roll up the Red Mage to be more particular, as you suggested, to be separate from that of a Multi-classed Half-elf.
The Puppetmaster.. yes, a monk utilizing an specially created iron golem might work, however most DMs probably wouldn't allow a Monk to use such a thing due to most monks' natures. Again, a little tweaking doesn't hurt, and I'm sure I can pull something out of my hat.
Looks like I've got some planning to do. No guarantees, as I work fulltime and try to balance myself amongst things. However, I will see about typing up the Dragoon and Corsair stuff onto my computer. Anyway.. off to work I go.. -.-;
