Ever wondered how much hp the boss has going into a bcnm fight? 8)

Sadly, after a little experimentation I found you could modify what items npcs give by changing dat files. This was supposed to be an orb in exchange for 30 kindred seals.

If someone learned how to actually control what is created...well your imagination could do the rest. SE did a really poor job when they designed this game. It works fine on locked consoles, but they did not include anywhere near the security needed for a pc. They included so many things client side that should have never been there. :?

To be honest, I'm not sure if that is actually the boss's hp in the first pic. That was just a message I encourted tonight. However, it doesn't seem entirely unreasonable, Consider a melee doing 100 a hit, that's 650 hits. 1 hit every ~5 sec we say = 54 mins of melee for one person, but add in 4 DD swining at it, and its down to a 13.5 min fight. Anyone else encountered strange stuff like this?

Some things you just don't want to know.

You getting bored with the game Rones? Normally you wouldn't be this public about playing around with something like npc reward .dat files. After making a public statment like that, if you buy or sell any big ticket items from now on some ass clown is gonna dig this post up and accuse you of haxorzing teh ffixs' :P

Yes, actually. Anyway, no worries about me buying/selling something big, I'm a poor smuck....hmmm I guess that is the reason to worry if I manage to sell something big. 8)

I dont think thats the boss's HP.
In hexadecimal that number is 10000 which is 1 higher than FFFF.
I see FFFF often in game coding so that may just be some random code on the menu. Debug menus usually have meaningless (atleast to the player) code placed randomly throughout them, such as in the middle of sentences or words. I believe this jumbled coding comes from developers not putting full debug menus in games' retail versions.

There is nothing to worry about here, this is purely client side. No matter what it looks like you recieve you always get the correct item. This has been done plenty to make fake picture +drops, ie.. a Shining Cloth from a worm in Gustaburg and crap like that.

If that was the case, then it should have still given me a functioning ks 30 orb. However, it did not. When I try to trade the item to the beastmen seal for example, it didn't work. So no, it is not the correct item.

Rones... The client may not be sending a valid trade message, because your client thinks it has a non-existant item. Swap the file back, see if that works.

65536, that doesn't strike a match in anyone else's mind? 2^16, typical binary number resulted from a calc. If it was 65k flat I'd believe it to be HP, but if it's an exact binary number that high up then it may represent something else.

That is still one of the funniest reply I red here.

Tried that, still doesn't work. Yeah, that number probably isn't boss' hp, but I thought it was a funny conciedence that it had the word's "Boss Status" followed by a large number when trying to enter a Bcnm fight against a single NM. What is interesting is if that is the boss' hp in hexadecimal form which would be 10,000 decimal as someone already mentioned. That does seem pretty reasonable for a bcnm nm.

Anyone know what the Kanji says? Probably just Boss status again, but maybe not.

Oh yeah... hex...

/goes back to banging head against chalkboard covered with 0s and 1s.
