Bot suggestion

Wouldn't it be possible to do an email verification thingy to get rid of bots? You know, it sends an email to the person who signed up, and they need to click it before they can start posting. Because I assume most bots sign up with a fake email address.

Additionally, wouldn't it be possible to do a sort of "Admins/moderaters need to accept him before he can start posting" thing, or would that be too much work? =/ I'm getting tired of seeing 1-3 bots post per day ; ;

There are tons of ways using the .jpg txt is best way to slow down bots but its impossalbe to stop them though.

Yeah, a lot of sites use that. The thing is, I believe the .jpg solution was brought up before, and I believe the answer was that that solution costs a lot.

costs? its free just need to get a meber on this site good at programming to give revve the code for it. What has all rdy been done.
 
I will bring it up to Reeve and see what he says. These bots are getting to me too. ; ;

How often does reeve come on qcdn i not seen him in ages!! Sent him some PMs and he not read them yet.

I usually get him on AIM whenever I see his away message go away. Soon enough he'll probably be locking me. :p

I'm not sure if he wants that private or not...so that's kinda information I can't share without asking him first. :( If you wanna private message him asking for it, I can bug him to check his PMs.
 
Can't you add that image thing where you have to input random letters you see in a picture to be able to register? Example:

fetchRegImage.jpg


It supposedly stops bots.

Thats a good idea, Ty. Although isn't the boards registration procedures set up by the actuall board provider and not the admin? Idk honestly, hence my asking.
 
Lets do uber strict qcdn!

New member, must type the matching Letter/Number on the jpg, and Link activiation only send thru via e-mail address, no acitivation = no post/reply/stuff.

And to goes to all already membered, even if it gets thru all those vaification, have another random letter/random jpg thingy everytime you go post/reply/edit stuff on qcdn.

If this still get them thru try this.. New Member with 0 post will not be able to make post, rely to anything for 24 hour or randomly selected hours after they created a new account, this may stop them, if it doesn't work, and bot still pass thru all that.. then idk what to do :3

If they can translate a sentence of mine then you are able to make posts.
 
that image was what I was thinking, but like I said, I think I remember someone saying that won't work. Thats' why I suggested having to click a link sent to your email =/
