I wish it was evil incarnate, but mostly it's just indiffernce to the lives of others. There's very little true evil in the world, and the scary part is just how petty most of it really is. At least we can be thankful there was a witness to this man's stupidity and that he's unlikely to avoid jail time.

Although I'll happily open up a whole new can of worms by saying I'd chalk it down as one murder and not two.

pro-choice! flame him! someone expressed their opinion! flame him! make him burn! Him and his fish!

Guns are a symptom of a disease but not the cause. Blaming guns is a convenient scapegoat but in the end, it's liberal propaganda - an attempt to feel as if you're doing something to prevent violence by removing guns from the society while the trouble is the violence within the society in the first place.

http://www.the-eggman.com/writings/death_stats.html

If you look at statistical evidence, firearms account for 30,000 yearly deaths.

Another interesting fact, 80% of all fatal shootings are done with illegally obtained guns. firearm violence is not really a signifigantly signifigant number however, considering 30,000 yearly deaths of nearly 300 million people.

I'd bet there is correlation evidence when examined further that shows likelihood of a person to commit a firearm related crime, and I'd assume it centers around a more specific socio-economic society the person lives in.

The US leads the wealthy countries of the world in gun related fatalities, however there are 2 factors to consider:

1. Other countries murders with a different rate of weapons that were used.
2. Minisocieties within the US that are more high risk areas that affect the safer areas very little.

So in the end I find it very short sided to blame guns for violence.

Um its called government programs.

Illegalize handguns and assault weapons. Create programs to get the weapons off the streets like the ones used in Canada (trade in your gun for money from the government).

http://www.garrybreitkreuz.com/publications/GunsinCanada.htm

You guys act like there is no way to get rid of guns in America... that's such a negative attitude. Guns are a means to easily create needless deaths PERIOD. So get rid of them. Guns create an illusion of protection and safety when in actual fact it's just a domino effect of criminals needing guns to cause crime.

Think about it, if you were going to rob a house and knew the homeowner had a gun, don't you think you would bring a gun too? Why do you think most home robberies never end in death in Canada, because no one has a gun, criminals have no reason to take that extra step because its unnecessary.

The father that killed his wife in this news post was not a criminal, he just had the means to create the crime easily available to him, and since he was obviously angry and not in a sensible frame of mind he inflicted as much damage as was available to him. If there was no weapon then this wouldn't be on the news because he probably would of tried to beat her to death which would give the woman a lot better chance of escaping or survival.

You want some actual facts and research done to prove that Gun Availability is directly associated with Murder and that Gun Control Laws actually lower the Murder Rate, then look here: http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-gunownership.htm

The problem is with you people is that you don't do the research before opening your mouths on a forum or making stupid decisions.

In larger cities in the U.S. they also have those types of programs.

By the way Decidence, Canada has 4 gun murders for every 14 gun murders that the US has. Considering that in the US that 11 of those guns were illegal, I'd say the problem isn't gun laws rather their enforcement.

Actually you could more accurately say that more executions = less murders.

The problem with correlations is you don't know what is a cause of what. It's my personal belief that when crime goes down that people no longer see a reason for such practices as the death penalty and carrying hand guns. The problem is that these are useful tools for people living in a society where violence still is a problem.

What's with all the nationalism in this topic? Unusual amount of hostility towards Americans in general for no reason. You can cut out all of that "you people" crap, thanks.

And just trying to beat someone to death doesn't make you a criminal asshole? That's a funny way of looking at it.

Most people can be trusted with guns. It's unfortunate that many shouldn't be. I have my problems with individual gun owners, but I have no desire to see them taken away from the general populace.

lol, but you cant get guns off the streets, that would be... impossible.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but, I don't recall the article saying he had no criminal record previously. This type of information may not have been released yet.

"We don't need no gun control! We need some bullet control! I think all bullets should cost $5,000! There'd be no more innocent bystanders. "I'd blow your fuckin head off, if I could afford it!""

Maybe it's the redneck in me speaking but screw not being able to own a gun.
