Has anyone tried this demo yet on Xbox Live Arcade? I remember seeing a preview for it months ago on "The 1Up Show" (see vid) and thinking it looked neat, and then completely forgot about it.

It's a very pretty game, with dreamy music and watercolor visuals. The puzzles are your standard trippy platform stuff mixed in with some Sands of Time rewind ability. I was especially amused when I realize the bridge in the puzzle I was assembling from scattered pieces created an actual platform I could jump across.

I'm going to have to buy the full game. It'll keep me busy until Bionic Commando: Rearmed comes out.

The game is great. Also... The dude in the video is named Jonathan Blow... Ouch...

The game rocks, the puzzles are genius. I figured out in the first world(world 2 technically) that you'd have to finish part of the puzzle to make the platform, but I didn't think about moving the puzzle around to move the platform at first.

The fourth world is very interesting, since they changed the time controls. Now, when you move to the right, time progresses forwards, when you move to the left, it rewinds.

i like the game, its just the price point that gets me right now as im waiting for bionic commando rearmed this coming wedsday

I look at this a lot like I looked at the PA game. I liked the demo, but the price is a turn-off. I've heard enough about this game to where I'll probably go ahead and drop the money for it and play it over the weekend, but without all the positive community comments it's getting the demo + price would've been a no-go for me.

It's only an extra $5. That's really not too bad. Skip a lunch and you've made up the difference. :)

i dont buy arcade titles that are over 800msp regardless of if i like it because theres no obvious reason why some games cost more than others when they are not much better than ones ive purchased. this game is good, but bionic commando is better...and its only 800msp

To me it's not a financial thing. I can afford it just fine, but until recently all games have been 400-800ms points. iirc the first one higher than that was Puzzle Quest or whatever it's called. Now more and more we're starting to see these 1200ms point games come out. With all the success Braid is having, how long will it be before the paradigm shifts from 400-800ms points per game to 800-1200ms points per game? People are already showing they are more than willing to shell out that extra money, so might as well just make it a standard. Then we'll see a new comic next year mocking people for not paying 2000ms points for Braid 2: Electric Boogaloo.

That's fine, I wasn't commenting on the price or what people thought of it; I hadn't actually looked up what the price was first anyways. I just liked that the penny arcade was referencing a game that came out yesterday and the subsequent online commentary about it.

I think Bankshot Billiards 2 was the first over 800 ms points game, since it was 1200 back in November 2005.

The reason Puzzle Quest and the Penny Arcade game were higher is because they're also available on other platforms. So they weren't so much XBLA games as retail games without packaging, with a matching price.

It was still worth the price. ^^ A game that well made deserves a higher price. Of course, if it were per se "Bankshot Billiards 2" I would have said screw it.

Just started playing Xbox again and noticed Braid. I really love the entire game - from the puzzles, music, watercolor looks and so on. I gave in last night and bought the full game. It is a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it.

Also, yay for forum search options.

I bought Braid and I played through it completely (haven't done a speedrun yet, just haven't found the time). It's fun and I personally don't mind paying the extra for a single game. If it becomes a standard though, I'm going to be annoyed and stop buying arcade games for a while. To me personally, BC: Rearmed offers a lot more gameplay and replay value than Braid and it was still 800ms points.

I really liked Braid a lot, it was very fun and I also found the storyline very deep. I was extremely sad to see it end, and wish they come out with Braid 2. :3
