hiya ^_^ I'm lvl 62 brd and the other day i was in a pty being a puller
(im a taru which will explain half of this lol) I cast utsusemi ichi on myself... went up cast a spell on the mob came back the pty killed it. Then i would go grab another when its nearly dead and sleep it... well my sleep kept getting resisted for some reason :( i even had that instrument with +2 lullaby. My chr is about 50~ +33
also i kept getting hit for 120+ per hit <.<

i was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice so that next time i dont get killed as badly....

(fyi this is the second time ive pulled as brd)

1 suggestion is dont use Nursemaid's harp. Use marys horn. Secondly, it could be you are fighting mobs too high and there is just not much you can do about resists.
Another would im not sure if you are using HQ light staff for it or not, but that will help.

At that level I guess you’re fighting birds which would explain the resist rate, my advice would be to stack +skill where ever you can. Failing that have a DD ready to voke the link and ask if the healer/other support job could sleep the mob once it’s at camp.

Horde is never a good idea on higher lvl Colibri since they reflect so you’re left with only 1 chance to sleep… but since they reflect magic you can bide yourself sometime by cast a Threnody or Requiem and recasting shadows or try Lullaby again.

Is your instrument skill capped?

yeah that lvl range is rough for no reasons especially when you're not top decked or and your skills are low due synch or any other reasons. I would definitely recommend investing in a wind torque once you're at 65 if you plan on using your brd a lot. It made my life much easier sitting on some wind+ skills, it will probably be the same for you ^^.

And yeah use mary's horn over nursemaid's for single target mob. Even for those camps, if I had to use horde, I would not use nursemaids just to the aoe range in fear of grabbing something else involuntarily and to get out more macc out of it too ^^.

elegy--> run like hell to camp--->lullaby--buff one song--> elegy---etc--> buff a different song , so on and so forth. feel free to add utsu in there somewhere but i did all my pulling as /whm and didn't have any real trouble with getting hit. It's all really a matter of running fast enough or at least doing everything in a timley manner, or and not getting resisted helps. lv sync probably shot your singing and wind skills to crap.
dont even turn around to look at the bird when sleeping just stop and hit the macro the instant you're at the location of the DD. the monster will catchup to you while you're singing and the DD get to autotarget the next mob without slowing down the pt by making them run around to hit it/

I stopped having resist issues with Lullaby around lvl 72. I'm a mithra though. I definitely recommend Mary's Horn. Try stacking Charisma. Some will tell you that skill gear is important for debuffing, but I'm one that will tell you that Charisma and magic acc is the most important part.

Another thing that could help are HQ light staff, but I know a lot of people who don't have any issue with the NQ version. Good luck!

Off-topic: I miss you ; ;! and they didn't fix the minuet issues since last time I checked lol :p

On-Topic: Yeah, NQ staff will work just fine. I try to round up around 120 CHR do to my debuffing duty and pretty much nothing goes through it (if we exclude HNM). I talked about a Wind Torque because you usually have a lot of CHR at those levels from your other gears and you can afford removing 3-5CHR from your neck and put some skills there instead.

I don't know what the OP has gear wise at 62 but in the end it's all a question of balance especially for the CHR. If you see that you don't have any problems sleeping them with the CHR you have, put some Skills. If you have issues, put more CHR. Retest until you find that balance between CHR and Skills. It tends to get easier the closer you get to 70 since you get access to more stuff with CHR on it (errant, sha'ir, etc.).

your chr sounds about right for your lvl, I'm with everyone else in going mary's horn over nursemaid's. Also if your not using food you may want to go for tav taco's, little chr boost and extra defense helps. I'm a taru as well and feel your pain, and I had a minstrels ring so I liked pulling with yellow hp >.> and yeah getting those double resists really sucks.

go in /WHM, put up blink and stoneskin.

use mary's horn and HQ light staff. Pull with HQ earth staff (terra) -> elegy.

When I did this method I would be fine even with some double resists. usually by the time you get resisted a second time, the original mob is dead and the group can pickup ur add. Because of blink and stoneskin you can take some hits and just heal yourself through them. If your healer is cool and tank is good, the healer can usually keep you alive anyways.

i dont think i ever died pulling, and probably pulled almost all the time.
