Brenner, the new Conflict.

http://www.playonline.com/pcd/update/ff11us/20060221ALyQT2/detail.html

For those who read up on the new update, I'm sure you all know about this and this has been talked about a bit.

Who would be interested in trying this out, and do you think this will be better than the regular Ballista or not?

I can imagine right after the update, at least one hundred players will be lining up around the npc for Brenner just to try it out, especially Ballista fanatics, so you may want to stay out of Upper Jeuno for a while because it may be pretty laggy. Unless otherwise you travel to the isle itself to take part in it.

It sounds like a lot of fun in my opinion, and that way you don't necessarily have to target an opponent, yet if each team strategize properly to have attackers and defenders then it could be a little challenging to attack these flames.

I probably won't be online till way after the update is done with work and all, but I am looking forward to Brenner when I get home.

I'm also interested in that multiple avatar alliance fight.

Brenner looks like a lot of fun. It's regular ballista, but you have to guard a base at the same time. Wonder if you could cast Protect on the Brenner haha

I read up on the method of scheduling.
Its pretty cool that they have designated each day with a level cap.

This prevents matches with level caps at ridiculous hours, and opens more opportunities for players to enjoy themselves at a certain cap for the entire day.

So I guess when it starts today after maintenance it'll be lvl 30 cap? I logged out at Windurst Woods last night before I went to sleep and woke up during the time of maintenance, so as soon as we can get back in I'll be rushing to the airship to get to jeuno to try this out with my rdm probably.

Based on the schedule embedded in the link, I think it may be a Lv.60 cap today since its Monday.

I'm pretty sure the reason they are starting it at Lv.60 is so that players can participate in Brenner at their best stat/level wise.

i'll see you there with my monk... we're gonna have some fun ^^

Yes. Its going to be a lot of fun. :-D
I hope to see the both of you there as well. :-D

Considering how Brenner works, I hope everyone works together as a team from both ends.

Unlike Ballista where people run-off to one-on-one, go AWOL, or divide into factions...

Brenner will actually pit us to work together IF you want to "win." ^_^

All in all, it will be a lot of fun.

Are there any leagues or linkshells forming for Brenner?
To my understanding, linkshells can compete against each other on the "reservation-based Brenner."

I'd be interested in getting one going or joining a good one.

I just took part in a Brenner as soon as I got back in the game, or at least an hour after it could be reserved. It was pretty fun! Kinda confusing a bit at first, but it'll take a little more practice. Yes, you can fight LSs vs LSs. I registered my LS in it.

Anyone know how steal works in brenner?
WE don't have petra to steal so i'm hoping that gear stealing trick from the enm 60 is what thieves get in brenner.

you can steal petras, and you turn it into your pursuiviant and he heals you depending on how many petras

Yea petras are mostly for healing yourself.
The only downside is that it will disable SPRINT. (Just like in Ballista)

So if you are trying to obtain the flame, it might not be wise to give up SPRINT unless you have FLEE on your side. :-D

The moment I logged on last night, Brenner was the first and only thing I did all night long. :-D

It was a little confusing at first, but easy to pick up on.
I will admit, it was tons of fun.

I agree with Blaine. We need to create some linkshells for a Brenner League.

I know there is a set schedule out there that SE posted...but I'm not quite sure how it applies because the Diorama version people tend to set the caps.

Lately it has been Lv.60 cap during the night hours of eastern time.
Times and caps may vary through out the day.

Has anyone taken a trip to the real Porongo Isle to see if there is a Brenner version similar to the Ballistas in Pashhow Marshlands, Meriphutaud Mts, and Jugner Forest?

Why Brenner > Ballista.

1. Offensive ganking on Players is highly inefficient.
2. Defensive ganking on Players is highly inefficient.
3. Defending is actually rewarded and encouraged.
4. It's a lot more fun.

Why Ballista > Brenner.

1. Postens need to be tweaked, they should stop pursuing after thier target crosses the middle of the main battlefield, or when their target gets a certain distance away from their home Flammen-Brenner. Nothing worse than defending your Flammen-Brenner from an onslaught of opposing teammates, to have one of yours come back home with a Posten on his ass to Stunbolt your defenders.
2. Revitalizers seem to be really rare in Brenner.

Why both of them have faults.

1. Provokes landing rate still sucks.

I will admit that probably the Diorama version of Porongo Isle will most likely be more packed with players than the real one if the island has Brenner.

Its probably for the fact its easier to get a warp from Upper Jeuno to the battle area versus going to Bibiki Bay and taking 3 boat trips on the Manaclipper to Porongo Isle.
