ok how are you guys doing.....

Well here is my Rant

i started Brookstone on Apirl of 2007. I was Promised very big Pay checks and Great incentives. Two months later i am the lead Sales person in my store and one of the best in the district. Two weeks before i leave to go to Nyc i was told by District manager and Store Manager that a Promotion is coming my way. I go on my vacation to Nyc when I came back I get a talk from Store manager and District Manager that I am going to get a Increase in Pay and Full benefits. The only bad thing about the Promotion is that i need to drive 70 mins from my house.

I am in the new store for two weeks with same amount of pay and without benefits. I ask the District Manager and she changes the topic. So finally when she was in the store with South Fl Regional manager I confronted her and she said "We changed our minds becuase we want someone that can speak Spanish". They knew i did not speak Spanish, before we started talking about a Promotion.

So I wasted my time and gas, between Traveling and working i was working 35-40 hours a week Plus 15-20 hours in Traveling. I did not get reimbursed for gas ( 120.00 a week in gas) Since my Home store is in Ft Lauderdale Not Miami.

A month ago i hurt my wrist at work and I have been fighting with them for one Month. I finally got them to put a claim in to workers comp, by threatening H.R with legal action for There Ignorance in solving this medical Issie.


so now i am stuck in a job that cares about numbers and cares 2 shits about there workers.

by the way i am a 2nd Asst Manager making less the 15k a year while i do Payroll, stock, shipments, Registers, banks, open.close and many other things

This is what it's like to work for a corporation when you're in a more entry level position in the consumers' eyes...

You work 70 hrs a week max, assuming 40hrs a week normally and make less than 15k? I'm finding this hard to believe, but I'm not sure what you're pulling in or how you're paid... I understand your situation sucks ass, but I think you're exaggerating a bit with those figures, under the assumption you're hourly+commission for sales.

Anyway, I can empathize with the situation and I hope you find what you're looking for there at Brookstone.

If not, at least keep an open mind to finding what you're looking for elsewhere.

I think the job was taking away from me because i an Gay. The dm is a Racist Bitch


i meant that i am working about 45 hours a week + 15 hours of Traveling back n fourth with Traffic.

With incentives i use to get 100.00 per 4000k chair i sold now its down to 10.00.

They are dropping the incentives.

$15,000 a year for a 40 hour week?

Thank god I live in Europe. 7.5k GBP would be illegal pay over here. You're moving over here soon though right?
 
I hate to say this, but I can't really understand what you're saying.
 
I can understand where you are coming from....

Corporations do just look at you like a number and easily expendable. I had some shady shit like that happen to me before. Before I moved to my current address I had to research which coffee shop I wanted to transfer to which I did. I found a spot in San Francisco that would take me. My manager was given 5 months notice about my transfer and she was cool about it.

Fast forward 5 months....

I tell her that my last day was in the end of August and that I need a few days before I start my new job so that I may move in and set up my apartment. She pulls some shit like "Oh I can't approve your transfer yet. You need to wait another month." I was pretty upset when I heard that and reminded her that she was given notice 5 months prior. Anyways I go over her and talk to my District Manager and she was very understanding and I told her that for me to drive an hour to work at 4am was not at all feasible. My District Manager approved my transfer and my last few days at my shop my manager was acting like a bitch and I just shrugged it off because she knew I was right in every aspect and courteous in giving her notice. Needless to say I was also stepping down from an Asst. Manager to be a regular Barista so that I can go to school.

Blaugh blaugh blaugh...

I settle in my new store and in my second week there I wrote down the wrong schedule and went into work an hour late. I was fired shortly after I got into the store. I was pretty shocked since I had no warnings on my records that would warrant that kind of move. I ask the Asst. Manager at my new store what the deal was and he said that my transfer was approved with a Final Warning status on my record. Which meant that I could easily be fired for anything. Wow right?

Yeah I was fired then confronted my old manager and she pretended like she knew nothing. I asked my friend that was a Store Manager at a store close by and she was upset and did not like what had happened.

In the end I left that shit hole company and realized that my old manager is a fat bitch with abandonment issues and has to latch onto any guy in her life like some 250 pound Tapeworm.

The End...
 
I make over 15k a year and all I do is clean houses lol... I bring about 400$ home a week.
 
I am trying to get a Job at ether Game Stop as Mit or Walking company as a Store Manager. I have about 4 years experience in Management.

I will tell you something about Brookstone; In the past 5 months 12 Store Manager have left the company. They are cutting everyones Pay and benefits.


The store i am at has the tendency to go through Asst managers every 3 months. I have been there for almost 6 months which is very long for my store.
7 of the managers have been with the company for 11+ years.

That's a whole lotta stupid. Definately get a new job. I couldn't work those hours, drive that distance for 15k/yr. You know $8/hr is $16,640 per year. Should be able to find a job anywhere making that. Well, at least around the DC area. No idea what the job market is like in Florida.
 
well i just got back from my 1st interview at GameStop. It went great i have my last interview on Wed, for Store Manager making 35-40k a year.:biggrin:

i love games and GameStop is a good company so i am hoping i get the job
 
Dosen't sound like you learned something from the coffee shop incident.

Perhaps you should look over your post so you don't make that mistake again.

The reason you got fired is because you crossed a line you shouldn't cross. And if you do it again, you'll just burn yourself at the next company.

Hopefully you did not use the coffee shop as a reference, because if your boss was really the bitch you say, you won't get the new job.

also i don't let people walk all over me, Hence why i confronted the Dm.

I also used Brook stone as a Reference because the Store Manager likes me alot, and i am 1 of the top sales people there

I do not agree with your opinion whatsoever.

I gave her 5 months to look for a new Assistant Manager and she happily complied and understood where I was coming from. It's not my fault that she was horrible in actually preparing herself for it and not interviewing potential candidates to replace me. For me to drive from Daly City to Menlo Park which is about 30 miles each way is not feasible at all. I mean this is the San Francisco Bay Area and traffic is no fucking joke.

Just because there is some probable etiquette with working corporations does not mean that I will bend over a table with my pants down saying "Please fuck me, I know that you fucked up and I should pay for it. Oh, and you do not need the lube."

You sound like a submissive person that allows themselve's to get walked over on. If you were more than courteous and you had your life planned out appropriately and then got fucked because your manager fucked up on her end on covering her ass, would you not be pissed as well?

I am rather curious what your take is if you were in my situation.
 
If you allow a company to run over you, they are going to do it. That's the way the real world works. I let it happen on my very first job because I didn't know better. In the end before I got fed up with it and quit I was an assistant manager making minimum wage while all my staff under me was making more than I was working fewer hours, lol. You have to stand up for yourself in retail or you'll just get used the most that they can to maximize their profits. It's a dirty business.
