So. The computer I use at work has had the homepage changed. I'd say it has to do with someone inadvertantly installing some software. The homepage has been changed to http://mystart.incredimail.com/english/

The problem is, the "admin" has locked out the ability to change the homepage. Thing about that is, the "admin" asked me if I knew how to change it. Admin = Manager that doesn't know much about computers in general.

So. My question is this: How can I change the homepage? If a program that randomly gets installed can change it, should I not be able to as well. Perhaps with a Javascript command?

<Help me out!>

registry edit?

I forget where the key is, but damn. Incredimail is a shitty spyware-laced Outlook clone. Who put that shit on your machines?

edit: try http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320159 It has the keys listed.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Default_Page_URL
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page

Also look for them in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS.

Happy hunting, I'd run Ad-aware and your AV client to be certain.

also in before the omg firefox is bettar than ie crowd.

(disclaimer! I use firefox exclusively)

We have new people at work. It seems they were also trying to burn Youtube shortcuts to a disc. :wacko:

Excuse me while I go clean the Coca-cola off my screen.

LOL!!! These stories never cease to crack me up... Someone needs to start a thread about the retarded things people at work do on their computers.

XD What kind of company do you work for?

I guess it's not as bad as my co-workers begging me to tell the the 'secrets' of how to access blocked webpages (the company uses Websense) so that they could get on Myspace at work. Yes, MYSPACE. It got so bad that the manager had to actually issue written warnings and fire people. Anyone who gets fired or written up for Myspace use at work is an idiot to me. There are at least a million better things to get fired for doing on the Internet...
