So I bought a Lite On SATA DVD writer (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106286) two weeks ago since my seven year old NEC has been acting up lately (not recognizing discs). When I first got it I put in a dvd to test the read/write speed, everything worked great and continued to do so until today. About 15 minutes ago I put in a dvd to rip, it recognizes the disc is in the drive and everything is fine, until I click the decrpyt button. Then my PC freezes for a few seconds and I get the BSOD with a stop error of 0x0000009c. I restarted and tried again, hoping it was just a freak occurence, but it happened again as soon as I hit decrypt. I was going to try a different dvd just to test things out, but now it won't even open.

Any suggestions?

Check to make sure your cables are secure, just in case somehow they shimmied themselves loose.

I was able to force the drive to eject with software. I tried a different disc and it worked just fine, put the original disc into my other dvd drive and it appears to be corrupt. Don't know why it crashes my PC in the Lite On drive though.
