BST Help

Heh. Thanks for all the tips guys. I'm only level 10 at the moment so I haven't really gotten into charming all that much, nor do I want to until I have some CHR gear. But thanks all the same, any and all comments/suggestions/advice are appreciated.

In the beginning, charm an EM and rape all the EP&DC mobs in sight.

When you are 35, you better charm/uncharm DC to make them depop into EM.

www.ffxionline.com is where the author of the bst sticky on alla moved his thread and added more info to it

There are also threads for each zone where bsts exp at as a personal reference to what mobs to use for what levels and personal advice.

Know the mob weakness chart it can help out quite a bit.

Know what mobs are naturally charm resistant ie mandys, slimes(they seem like it),etc.

I would advise tank food really for exping it seems to help me more(elf) than att food.

Have 2 stacks of crab and 1 stack of a different mob and another stack of another I just like to take advantage of different species strenghts you could go all crab which is sound still but when you have birds beating on them you'll want another jug.

At my lv i just use tiger(offense) and crab(defense) for those times i cant find a pet. It's a real grind in the early lvs for me when I get home I'll post the exp grounds for bst on every lv.

Lastly dont push yourself more than you need to just to get a few more points faster than just being patience it's like a chess game and a "war of attrition" strat is what I would reccomend (ie let mobs take more of the beating than you=P)

It's a job that takes quite a bit of getting used to gl maybe we can duo soon if you grind hard

Send me a tell in-game whenever. Start charming ad fighting when you can kill dhalmels in Tahrongi 14-15. Technique at that time is to have your pet fight the dhalmel, toss a dia on melee a little at start, then back off. Hell your pet to your side when the mob you are fighting has 1-2- hits left on it and let it kill your pet, then you kill it for full exp.

Welcome aboard! ^^

Only things I've really got to add are:

1) When meleeing, always fight directly opposite from your pet(like you're lining up to be SATA'd). You can avoid AOE spells and some AOE tp attacks that way. Just fight out from maximum melee range.
2) Actions/Effects started on/by you and Actions/Effects started on/by foes are filters you'll definitely want to have turned off.
3) Fight unlocked, pan your POV to watch for links/adds.
4) If duo/trio-ing, never have the pets fighting from the same angle.
5) If you play with the sound off, turn it back on. It'll save you not only untold amounts of surprise aggro, it's also the first clue you'll get when a Gob is about to "suicide" Bomb Toss(it sounds different).
6) After [Leave] at 35, a quick [Leave] and re-[Charm] will force a mob to cancel a particularly nasty spell or action. Be advised though, this will also reset your pet's hate to zero, and until it can get it back . . . you'll be tankin . . . which is an excellent time to acquaint yourself with #7 :P
7) If your pet's not holding hate well, turn away. Just sneak a lick in here and there to get you past 100 tp.

Good luck out there! ^^

P.S. [Bomb Toss] = [Run away!]

Kinda makes me wanna try bst...

...

yeah...as if I had the room and money to invest into another job post 40...

Self-Destruct moves don't automatically kill their user, despite their HP being 0. They're not officially dead until they begin to drop to the ground. So you'll get full exp as long as you use Leave before that point occurs.

Thanks for posting all the helpful info everyone. I'm dabbling a bit with bst and it's fun so far. :)

The funnest time I have had on the game is playing bst. Maybe I ought to create a new character and level bst to 75 again. I bet bst is most challenging as taru.

What do you guys think the hardest race for bst is?

Galka :| you'd have ass for MP to do much self curing with when things get nasty.

Is it even possible to be asexual and a nympho?

Well that would pretty much describe me if I became a galka.

I'm a bisexual nymphomaniac redheaded nursing student that is into kinky sex.
I have a husband, a girlfriend AND a boyfriend, and yes they all know about each other.

Galka are as sexy as a middle aged potbellied man with erectile dysfunction and a large bald spot.

I don't think kinkkerbelles and galkas mix well. Maybe I'll make a poll and let everyone decide what my race will be and what my new name will be.

Taru BST isn't that bad imo > .> . You have to be a little more careful because most races hp is near red levels when you are in yellow lol. But I don't die much for a BST . _.

Has been a lot of help in finding camps. For me, leveling the job, that has been the biggest problem. I'm extremely picky about where I camp. I like to do EM vs. 1 or 2 level Toughs, and if that camp isn't around for me, I just grind it out somewhere else with lower level mobs. Very rarely have i fought goblins, and am ashamed to say I have, at this point, never exp'd on bombs. I tried a couple in the citadel, and it just wasn't for me.

Like Pako said, you're going to die a lot, and a lot of times you just know it's coming.

When you get to the level where there is more gear available to you, get a CHR set (rings, RSE if there's any CHR on it, neck, head, AF when you get it)
then have a melee set (Acc, attack, and STR are your friends, after level 35 you're going to be hard-pressed to outdamage your pets per hit, so go wild)

I have 1 macro for charm gear, 2 for attack gear. 5 gear swaps on my charm macro, and axe and shield on my Fight macro.

Oh, and once you get to about level 36 or 37, you must go to Purgonorgo Isle, the boat from Bibiki Bay, just watch out for the Sea Monk type on it. It's the most amazing looking zone in my opinion. And the camp is great, just keep walking in a big circle through really nice scenery.

I tend to think I'm pretty good at the job, but wouldn't be half as good without the help of other Beastmasters on the server, namely Hali. So by all means, if you see me around, ask any question you might have and I'll do my best to answer you ^^
