I'm bored and it's quiet, so here we go. I think SE will destroy this makeshift guide by adjusting the mobs I mention here too, so...

Just to clarify I've deliberately not listed some areas here. In the past the beastmen are on steroids. i.e. Pashhow Marshlands, those quadavs are ridicously overpowered even for a level 68-70 Electrum Cap (good pets in their own rights, it's a funguar!) cannot reliably take down a Level 71-74 Quadav with your help. Although this may be deliberate by SE, as stuff was meant to be more powerful in the past, but who knows.

I have yet to try but if we shift the scale up then Beadeaux (S) is also not going to work for post 75 levelling.

This may be a bit early but I like to plan ahead.

76-77

The Boyahda Tree

Duh!!! It's depressing but oh well.

Pet: Korrigan (72-75)
Prey: Elder Goobue (73-76)

An Even Match Korrigan will have absolutely no problems destroying any form of Elder Goobue at 75, but since you'll be 76 here there is no way to tell the Korrigans apart, so... just be aggressive. Infact if you want some cash I think spamming this place (although you'll probably encounter 20+ other BSTs) would be very ideal. A bit slow but ideal still I think.

Ifrit's Cauldron

I think the only high level bombs are the ones near Ash Dragon...

Pet: Ash Lizard (73-76)
Prey: Volcanic Bomb (71-78)

The ones near the core of the volcano I think are lower level. Might not be reliable enough I think.

Alternatively, hunt Hurricane Wyverns (75-78)

On RDM/BST here it usually takes me 2 lizzies to down a Wyvern. Should be the same on BST main.

Ru'Aun Gardens

Pet: Flamingo (72-74)
Prey: Groundskeeper (75-78)

To be honest I'm sick of sky, I don't want to come up here. You'll most likely need 2 birds to take 1 Doll down. But combined with FoV (Page 3) this might actually be a good spot. I just hate pet swapping though. Meltdown is also deadly if used early and if you don't stun it early enough.

* PENDING TESTING * La Vaule (S)

Pet: Fighting Smilodon (75-78)
Prey: Fighting Smilodon (75-78)
Lower Tier Orcs (77-79)
Seneschal Imp (77-79)

Dependant on mob locations. I view Orcs as overpowered, even in Campaign their Counterstance move really sucks... tiger vs tiger might suck due to Roar, if one goes off early.

77-78

*PENDING TESTING* Beaucedine Glacier

Pet: Icefang Tiger (77-78)
Prey: Glacial Imp (79-80)

This is dependant on the location of the imps. I do not think the Gigas will make good prey for now, will go out and test via the use of Familar as the update approaches in June.

*PENDING TESTING* Xarcabard

Pet: Caracal (77-78, Lynx type mobs)
Prey: Anything else, but imps also available, Ruly Imp (81)

Unsure how strong the demons and gigas are, but it may prove to be a dangerous spot

The Boyahda Tree/Dragon's Aery

Yeh we're here again =(

Deeper inside you'll find millions of untouched Bark Tarantula. Make them kill each other.

Pet: Bark Tarantula (75-79 @ Tree, 77-80 @ Dragon's Aery)
Prey: Bark Tarantula (75-79 @ Tree, 77-80 @ Dragon's Aery)

If you're in the Aery, help out the HNMLSes by claiming those Darters!
NOTE: I forget but apparently the Darters in Dragon's Aery behave funny? I know it's about Alliance hate but if you're solo I think there should be no problems. And if Fafnir is up try and solo that (lol)

Alternatively...

Arrapago Reef

Lahama (Sea Monk/Kraken) are 76-79 here. However a lot of mobs in this area may prove absolutely too tough to take down reliably with 1 pet. I've found that they're much tougher here. A DC leech near the Staging Point could rarely take down a DC Lamia even with your help.

There also isn't many Lahamas to go around, or they are fairly scattered... however this is a good zone to utilise this pimp hat for charming:

Lamia_garland.JPG

Pet: Lahama
Prey: Anything that's EM or Tough, but might prove tricky due to their seemingly enhanced strength. Jnun's are 77-80 but they are too widespread.

Mount Zhayolm

I believe the Mountain Clots are a bit far from some mobs but they're found in the tunnels which connect most places together. I think it's possible there's one area (I need to investigate in person) that may be linked closely with Wamoura Prince's.

Mountain Clots are always an absolute bitch to charm though, so that struggle may not be worth it. I fail often in CHR+40~ gear.

1 Clot should have absolutely no issue tanking a whole fight against a Wamoura Prince. If I can confirm this spot you might be able to grind to 80 here no prob.

Pet: Mountain Clot (72-75)
Prey: Wamoura Prince (79-81)

Kuftal Tunnel

Ya we're back over here now...

Pet: Ovinnik (77-79)
Prey: Greater Cockatrice (78-80)

Still not an ideal place in my opinion. Tigers are also a bitch to charm but not as bad as slimes. The birds can petrify your pet. And silence you too. Will probably be a bit slow...

Alternatively, there are wyverns down there (Ladon, 80-82) but as mentioned they're quite tough mobs to take down, may require more than 1 tiger unless you get a lucky Roar going off. Swapping midfight is too dangerous due to charm rate.

Gustav Tunnel

Oh hey it's the other tunnel!

Pet: Demonic Pugil (73-76)
Prey: Typhoon Wyvern (78-80)

I believe 2 pugils (and there are plenty) should be able to handle a Wyvern no prob. But Dread Shriek and Radiant Breath kinda suck .... sub WHM here.

78-79/80

Bhaflau Thickets

Seriously running out of ideas now. Grab a Sea Puk by the Staging Point and try a Mamool, but I think their combination of high HP, destructive TP moves (Firespit, unless it's Firesday, Warm Up, Somersault, etc) and linking probability will most likely get you killed. Plus you'll compete with Merit Parties who are probably also burning to 80...

Pet: Sea Puk (77-78)
Prey: Mamools (81-83)

If you can get in a trio of BSTs I think this should work out a bit better.

Mamook

This spot should be more quieter and you'll be able to utilise the 78-79 level Slimes here! Although I haven't been here as much (who has?) but the location of these slimes should be close to the highest level Mammols here.

Pet: Brei (77-78 ; these are slimes)
Sea Puk (76-78)
Spinner (79-81)
Prey: Highest Level Mamools (81-83, WHM, THF, BLU, NIN, although the THF's massive evasion may mean your pet will struggle to kill it)
Battle Bugard (77-78), 1 slime should destroy it no prob
Watch Wyvern (81-83), I don't think I've ever pitched a slime against a wyvern, I'm unsure how they'll fare. Pet swapping is not recommended due to the anal charm rate
Spinner (79-81), I know these are found in tunnels but I'm unsure how close the are to the other mobs, but since spiders group together usually you should do Spinner vs Spinner where possible.

You'll be able to use that pimp hat here though ... /dance

Caedarva Mire

No brainer here.

Pet: Spongilla Fly (78-79)
Prey: Heraldic Imp (79-81)

The camps mentioned above at 77-78 could be utitlised to 80, after testing.

Feel free to chip in though... I have posted this on FFXI Online (DiV) too to gather some ideas. Will update/modify this thread as I gather information from both areas.

* UPDATE 1: Added Glacier and Xarc (both in the past), La Vaule and Caedarva Mire. I overlooked the Mire for sure.

Glacier(s) and Xarc(s) have Tigers and Lynxes respectively that are T/low VT at the moment - I'm expecting they'll be doable about 76-77ish and I fully intend seek revenge on every imp that's killed me there.

Oh yes the icelands, I forgot about the tigers there. I aggroed one after ignorantly running through the glacier with no form of stealth, as PLD/BST. Charmed it after 2 attempts then something huge flew down and ate me when I was on low HP. In that case they will make excellent pets against the imps there as imps aren't particularly hard to take down.

I might go and walk around there closer to the update date in June to determine how viable it could be.

Nothing in Xarc though relating to tigers, according to wiki.

Xarc has lynxes apparently according to my better half who ran around there and is slightly more psychotically suicidal on BST than I am.
Also the orange tiggers in La Vaule which are EM-T at the moment which would do 75-77 ish at a guess.

Oops, I missed those lynxes/couerls while skimming the wiki page. 7 bombs (Djinns) in Xarc too and will probably have a 5min respawn as its outdoors. I don't think any of the Gigas/Demons would be a good hunt though.

I didn't look into La Vaule but now having a quick look it seems there are also Imps there, although only 7. Thanks for pointing this zone out.

Fighting tigers suck though, if they get an early Roar off, or god forbid, spam it even, it really means your pet is crippled. Although we can remedy it with that bullshit food no one even cooks those anymore. But using tigers vs imps...

I'll need to explore more (I'm lazy) and find out the exact location of some of these mobs. Although I don't think Orcs would be a good hunting mob there, as mentioned before, being overpowered and also Orcish Counterstance is frigging cheap.

Other than that, have we covered our bases now? I can't see anything else in Castle O (S), although they do also have imps there.

Brain wave! I forgot about Caedarva Mire.

Pet would be flies (78-79)
Prey would be imps (79-81)

Unless otherwise camped this would be THE most efficient spot for exp at 78. But then again hasn't most people moved to Colibris now for EXP?

Sweet, thanks for posting this. :) Some great ideas for how to get exp after 75!

It's not a fantastic alternative, but if you have some inventory space available carry some Pet Food Alpha stacks (about 120 gil per stack) and swap the Beast Jackcoat into your Reward macro. Of course if the beastmaster gets paralyzed... Then there's a pretty good chance that this won't be that helpful. xD

Edit: How about Bibiki Bay?

Level 76-78
Bibiki Bay
Pets: Tartarus Eft (76-78), Catoblepas (76-78)
Prey: Tartarus Eft (76-78), Catoblepas (76-78)

And Efts intimidate Dhalmels, I think. :)

Other way around I'm afraid, Falky. Beasts intimidate Lizards, Lizards intimidate Vermin, Vermin intimidate Plantoids, Plantiods intimidate Beasts.

Oh yeah! Good catch, man.

I haven't scoped it out personally, but maybe it'd be a decent solo camp (and nice for those people who merited Killer Instinct?).

Edit: Does anyone know if the Mountain Scolopendrids (77-80) in Meriph. Mountains (S) are anywhere near some Gnats (79-82)? :o

Don't think Gnats ever feature on the list of things people enjoy fighting to be honest. The Mountain Scolopendrids can take out the yags near Castle Oz as far as I know - obviously at present requires the charm/pray/two-hour trick to prevent your face being ripped off but with a raising in level cap they'll become furry playthings (as furry as anything with an exoskeleton can get to being).

You know it's times like this I now wished I did NOT throw away my Limbus BST Items, I gotten enough to make 3-4 pieces over time but I decided, back then, the level cap will never rise and I won't need any of the gear. Now..... it seems like a good idea. (I can upgrade Body and then throw away the rest, take advantage of such augment)

Regardless, Eft vs Dhamel would be more ideal here, those Efts have stupid moves, but Healing Breeze if managable, plus it they can Berserk. Toxic Spit does a high 18dmg/tic.

Regarding Gnats, they're just big fat Chigoes from my encounter with them, but are even worst. Their high evasion also makes them not friendly for your pets.

One other important factor to note is that I need to add Antares (Scorps) to the Gustav Tunnel camp. But important to note that the same Antares in Halvung are NOT charmable.

Hmmm has anyone tried to make any decent solo(or even duo) bst MMM?

It is not possible* to create a decent solo or duo MMM due to the technicality (is that a word? Too lazy to Google) of it.

To get good exp you must put in that Rune which buffs up the mobs (makes them a few levels tougher) which will completely destroy jug pets. But because they'll be rated T/VT they'll also destroy jug pets. And you also cannot charm them.

Even in a duo I doubt it'll work, you still lack some power.

*I have limited knowledge of MMM so don't shoot me.

I believe someone had worked out a way ages ago to get a maze where essentially you could use the charm, get pet half killed, rinse, repeat method to get through it - but it wasn't awesome. Might have been on the Alla BST forum I read it, or in my imagination or something.

A word of warning about charming tiggers in the past: they're resistant . . . HELLA resistant. It takes somewhere in the neighborhood of 130 CHR to even get in the comfort zone on those things at present. Hopefully the coming updates will change that a bit.

On the plus side, if you're lucky enough to have charm gear in that range, two Bsts can chain VT orcs to the tune of Blm duo xp on Mt. Zhayolm . . . with zero downtime! :D

I shudder to think what a small party of Bsts could do to the fuzzy-vested IT orcs in there . . .

I don't generally have that much problem charming the La Vaule tigers (they con EM to T at 75), but my charm gear's pretty decent... if I could only track down some flipping heaven's rings I'd be sorted. Granted neither me or my fiance tend to go for using them to kill SCNM mobs if solo, but if you've got the safety net of a duo (we've got a good arrangement - he does the dying, I do the keeping up reraise and casting raise thing) they're not that bad.

Usual BST charm rules apply: if you're close into level = uncharmable, if you've got an audience = uncharmable, if you've got an angry mob trying to chase you down for lunch = uncharmable.

On a side note - had to laugh the other night - LS went to do a SCNM run, tried to get me to come RNG and were told politely I wasn't going there on anything BUT BST... me and the man show up, LS kills one mob in the time we roll up, grab the LS SMNers and get another couple down... my comment was "I don't expect to hear a lol in front of the letters BST for at least a fortnight guys". Following SCNM day "we need you on BST".. should screenshot it and put in on my wall for rarity value.

Oh ya, Reau and I have plenty of experience there in La Vaule. Fantastic camp, just can be a little rough w/o getting into a good rhythm, but holy crap is it good xp, and fun lol. Looking forward to hitting that place at 76 and 77, we'll murder the zone.

I tried the tigers in La Vaule before and can say there's not too much difference between them or the tigers in Kuftal Tunnel (i.e. charm resistant).

Slimes, Mandies, Tigers, Flytraps and Colibri I've always felt there's some sort of charm resist thing on them. Might be missing some other mob family too but these are the ones at the top of my mental list.

Usual BST charm rules apply: if you're close into level = uncharmable, if you've got an audience = uncharmable, if you've got an angry mob trying to chase you down for lunch = uncharmable.

Hah, yes, I also drew this chart below a while back which is based on similar rules:

Very nice LadyKiKi im soo glad fellow bst can help each other out w/ camps,I am lvling up on my blm atm and useing the guild on allakazzam blm forum sucks and there only 1 thead about it. In the same token, I've found Bibiki Bay about halfway back to be a decent camp. Rabbits vs. Dhalmel. There's an area where they both just line up nicely, further past the 73ish camp where the Birds are. I've duo'd there quite a bit, but I'd imagine if you were desperate to grind out some EXP, this camp would be suitable. Good for buffer/merits at 75, so I'd think it could get you to 76 before it starts to dwindle down. (Maybe even 77 solo?)

I'd like to throw this in concerning Bibiki Bay as well - bunnies and Dhalmels vs the (currently) VT Hobgoblins down at the far end might be viable at level 76.

You have to be alert, brave, and mildly insane to fight gobbies solo, but hey . . . you're a 75 Bst. Your commitment papers should have long ago been approved :P
