BST resources

This may have been in one of Gideon's links, but its from flocks site via Alla. These are camps off of Alla I believe, updated for ToAU and MPK patch mainly, some ToAU camps have changed though, I think SE dropped some Soulflayers in one be cause what zone isn't complete w/o the most annoying mob in the game.

As far as ENM goes, the merits may make it tough even into the 20's-30's after Leave most mobs are holding their own, but coupled with full merits it can make it very difficult. I'd take out the ENM merits personally, because you won't see a whole slew of enm- until later into your BST career or 50 with Crow Gear. I know Weaponslayer who is nearly fully merrited melee wise still pops on some Raven stuff if he has to WS mid fight, but mainly because hes just beastlier than most of us.

Really looking forward to leave...the ghetto leave trick you told me about works most of the time, but if I've done almost anything to the mob when I use HEEL the mob attacks me and not my pet...lol

Great info there, thanks

If you're standing pretty far away from the fight (like, the mobs aren't on your radar), Heel will always be hateless. It's still possible to pull hate after the mob hits your pet a few times though if you've accumulated any hate, but the actual command won't do it that way.

So I'm a nublet eh? Stand further away -- gotcha!

Charm duration is far from random. An Even Match monster will always last 5 minutes, without any Charm+ items equipped. Lower will last longer, Higher will last significantly less. But it's all a static duration, dependant on your Beast Master level vs. the mobs level.

I'm sure that you've found the wiki's leveling locations already ( http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Beastmaster_Solo_Leveling_Guide ), but I'd offer that it's pretty good. I, like you, picked up BST for the lifestyle (or is it in my DNA? Hmm.) so I really didn't want to level where there were normal parties leveling, and the wiki guide offers some nice suggestions.

Also, I'd recommend a Reraise Earring as soon as you can equip it. It saves you mentally from those demoralizing deaths and the sometimes long walk back to camp. For me, exp was mostly about momentum, and keeping my butt at the camp site was very key.

There's a lot of good BSTs here, so you'll get pretty decent advise. By all means, if you have a quick question drop me a /tell, I always have time for a fellow Beastmaster. Good luck!

I've been meriting like mad for IP points for reraise scrolls, the earring would be so much better because the demoralizing deaths seem to always happen 1 hour and 2 minutes after I use the scroll, lol.

Thanks for the support, the BST community has been very willing to help. Speaks alot of your characters (no pun intended!)

I saw that you registered on theflock's website. I went ahead and activated your account. In case there was anything that you wanted to look at that may help you. Unfortunately, we got too many porn ads on our site so we had to make accounts activated by admin only.

Tho we really don't have many guides on our site. For me, I use alla or ffxiclopedia for anything I need a refrence to.

I'm gonna start crying if I have to equip a gimper axe ;; I understand why the suggestion, but honestly with practice I'm sure I'll find a balance.

Balance is easy. I always went with top-notch stuff. It's just a matter of letting the pet get the first couple swings in to build initial hate, and keeping the target 'unlocked' so you can turn around if you do pull hate.

TP isn't really a problem post-rampage. The mobs usually last more than long enough to get 100TP, then at the end you release your pet and rampage them to death. I'm guessing you probably have enough merits so that you'll get rampage at what? 53?

Also, BEST CAMP GUIDE EVER!

I registered to follow the link Mattaru posted. Thanks for activating the account. I can check the porn links for you as well to see if they're genuine (kidding....maybe)

Thanks a bunch. Rampage probably won't be 54-55, unfortunately because of the weapon I have that starts with an R and ends in idill, I have 8 sword merits and 4 axe. I am sooooooo wishing BST had a slightly better sword skill, as they can use the above weapon lol.

DON"T DO IT!!!!! I looked at one once and I got a virus =(

Hmmm, I wonder if this is why Dejan keeps having computer problems lately.

A tip: take time to learn which mobs are charm resistant a few that I know of are

slimes
opo-opo
pugils

Sorry to resurrect from page 1, but Pugils are charm resistant? I've never had problems charming Pugs.

Slimes, Opo-opo, Crawlers (especially on Earth day), Mandys. I can't think of any more that cause me a lot of trouble.

Slimes, Opos, and mandy's I'll buy, but I've never had trouble with either pugs or crawlers. Hell of the mandy's, only the black ones give any trouble and they aren't tooooo aweful.

God damn mandies.. they're -really- charm resistant, as are oppos, though I believe those two are the hardest to charm. Crawlers and pugils are not charm resistant, and slimes are but it's not that hard to grab em with good charm gear unlike opo and mandies... too bad mandies are such nice pets too (I use em whenever I get the chance anyway, them and leeches) :P

Maybe it's because you didn't have an Alanon signed Apollo! :p Seriously though, I spent a lot of time (all of lvl74 & 75, and a few merits) ripping up the tree with Black Mandy's and my charm rate really wasn't bad at all.

Hmm, I have always had bad luck with mandies even with really good charm gear. Maybe it's just that though, bad luck.

And hey, if you ever want to trade me a signed apollo for a unsigned one, let me know. ;)

Took advice from your Flock thread last night, and did ding 22. Thanks for the help, and I have to say I respect all of your patience. I remember seeing BSTs catching flack or farmers moving in on their mobs while they were exping, but when it happens to you, you see things in a whole different light.

Congrats on your beastliness Jamal. I am a solo Bst (all the way to 69 so far).

It's a slow journey but one of the most rewarding and enjoyable I think I have had in the game.

Like most Bsts, death has become a close aquaintance, some lvls worse than others, but I wouldn't swap my time as Bst for anything.

I can't speak for anyone except me but I think once you take the path of Bst and taste the euphoria of finallly getting Leave you become completely hooked.

When you pets become your tanks it's just sheer bliss...well most of the time.

Good luck and have a wonderful time :)
