Bugs that eat waste, poop oil.

Wish I could shit oil.

However, to substitute America’s weekly oil consumption of 143 million barrels, you would need a facility that covered about 205 square miles, an area roughly the size of Chicago.

It's an amazing advancement, but the practicability is quite the feat to overcome.

Not really, they'd most likely break it up into a lot of smaller facilities to cut down on the shipping costs, so it'd be a lot easier to have many smaller oil plants throughout the country.

That's amazing.

That is amazing!

This is not amazing. I mean, cool, but not amazing.

Let's take a look at our President and his "dick-around" method of dealing with problems. If we're able to produce free oil, then we'll have an age of oil indefinately. While this is great because oil powers a majority of our energy needs, global warming will not be stopped in the slightest. Oil companies will revamp the way we look at cars again. SuVs will make a comeback, and the poor, planet saving hybrids will fall to the wayside.

This is just shooting ourselves in the foot.

Except that this new oil is much cleaner than the normal oil we're using now.

The Article said:
The company claims that this “Oil 2.0” will not only be renewable but also carbon negative – meaning that the carbon it emits will be less than that sucked from the atmosphere by the raw materials from which it is made.

Plus, if the oil companies buy this new oil, then they'll buy less natural oil, which would lower the production of natural oil, so the environment would be damaged less. SUV's will never go away and neither will hybrids; and eventually all cars most likely will become hybrids; it just won't be necessary to have a hybrid to save money.

o. haha.

Well, that's what I get for not reading. Thanks for clearing that up Baj.

Baj said a lot which broke the point but I have to add in.
Are you actually serious?

I mean I understand there are some people who still follow the ridiculous joke that is man-made global warming but I didn't picture someone with your smarts among them.

Did you know a single volcanic eruption does over 10,000 years of humanity's damage to the ozone?
Humans are a flea on the ass of the problem that is global warming.
While we certainly don't HELP the planet with issues of it, not only have every credible sect of scientists denounced it, but even the Earth does with record breaking winters and myth busting cold weather.

Remember roflAl Gore claiming how polar bears suffered from global warming and their population dwindled from the heat?
Yeah, like how their group had to turn back because it was too cold and when they eventually DID make it up there, they found the highest population of polar bears in decades?

Come on Aly, you're a smart guy from most of your posts. Don't believe this drivel >.<

The only thing is, if this follows through, those damndable ginormous SUVs will still be on the road, hoggin' up mah spaces.
Other than that, friggin' awesome.

While I take everything I hear with a grain of salt, I do take global warming and the planet seriously. I'm the first one to call bullshit on many things, but I believe that MOAR oil is the answer to our energy crisis. You also must think that China and many other underdevoloped counties are entering their own industrial revolution, and the amount of energy, oil, and carbon emitted by those countries *is* bad.

Don't peg me for a tree-humping hippie, but I am concerned with the path we're going down and the long term effects it *will* have on the ozone and earth and animal species in general.

You're also taking the "global warming" idea as a general "warming" of the planet. Many strange and unaccountable weather effects can stem from global warming, up to and including: colder winters.
