I'm just wondering if we're ever going to do anything with those headers some of the members made for that contest....like months ago? Just curious.

No, there was a contest where people submitted banner designs for the site. Some of them were really awesome. I think Sabs had a really, really good one if I'm not mistaken. I'd definitely like to see one of them up soon.

Edit: Was there a poll to vote which to use or was it just a thread for submissions? I can't remember :(
 
Yeah, I remember that banner contest. I won it. I got $50 bucks for it too. It'd be cool to have several banners randomly load when you refresh the page or something.
 
I made a topic asking about the banners a couple of months after the contest was held, but I can't remember anything happening either. I also wanted to see some of the stuff that people spent time into making be posted considering that had been the reward for winning the contest. Hope that one of the admins can set that up.

Uhmm... I dunno - I think the banner went along with the QCDN 2007 idea and that was Nox's ballpark.

Replace "one of the admins" with "the admin". I looked at the style templates briefly and needless to say I felt as comfortable in there as a nun in a strip club.

Sab had the submissions that won by vote I believe. There was no reward for this contest from my recollection. I think the one Mortanis is referencing is the nation banners below usernames?
 
Sorry, when I said "reward" I meant reward: having your banner be posted on the forum.

I take it Reeve isn't able to help you out with setting things up? I thought he was the one who had originally setup the contest?
 
Aww that sucks, I'd of thought the site would of looked sweet with any of the banners that were submitted.

As far as prizing and stuff for contests on the site, I don't know why you guys just don't give away free premium memberships to winners or something. Wouldn't cost qcdn anything and I'm sure the users would appreciate even the small gesture.

I don't think even Jesus himself could help me with these things. If I spent several hours reverse-engineering the templates I might be able to figure it out, but it's just one endless snippet after another of code that I see no reference to master variables for.

Neophytal made the OP for the thread wherein the submissions were made (thread's in the mod forum now for easier access). I can't remember who initiated it. Might've been Nox.

I can add the banner up, I just need the actual images that sab made. The ones in the thread are complete snap shots showing it in context.

No, the national banners thing was never presented to the public as a contest. Sculli asked me in a PM to do some, but the ones I made were not used.

The banner contest (I looked for the thread, and I guess it's gone now) was a different thing. The one I made had the ruined city from Lufaise Meadows in the distance on it, and I remember several people not liking it for being too 'simple', but it won the votes anyway.

No biggie.
