ok before i start i would just like to state that i HATE driving games a hell of a lot. I dunno why, i just do not like them. But i was bored and no games have come out for awhile so i picked this up to see what the fuss was about.

My final verdict.
I am impressed. I actually have fun playing this game.
While at first i went into it with my usual "i hate driving games" attitude, and was not into it at all in the beginning, as time went on and i learned to do more stuff i got addicted.

The feature to me that i thought was absolutley awesome was the great usage of the live vision camera.
You will be able to use your camera right off the bat when you start the game, you can take your picture and it will be put on your burnout license.
But where the camera really shows off some fun is online in your victories. When you take down an opponents car, your camera immediately takes a picture of whatever your doing at that moment and shows it to your opponent. So you can point and laugh, give em the finger or whatever and it makes the take down that much more sweet.

The world is completley open, you can drive all over the huge city, and even head out to rural farm areas and such and just basically drive forever. At every stop light theres a challenge, between racing, Marked man where you are the marked man and have to make it to your destination without being taken out by those chasing you, Road rage where you take your battle all over the city and take down other drivers to meet your quota, Stunt challenges where you get a certain amount of time to perform stunt combos via ramps located around the city, boosting, drifting, flat spins, power parking and reverse driving to earn the set stunt score and win, And my personal favorite
SHOWTIME!
You can hit show time on any street to beat the set score and time on that street, your car flips side ways and begins tumbling down the street into oncoming traffic, you can control the direction your car bounces, and even make it bounce more by hitting the ground slam, you have to fly into as many cars for the greatest distance possible and crash those cars with your tumbling wreck. Hitting buses increases your score multiplier, while certain cars are worth a certain cash amount of damages, each car you hit increases your boost meter so you can keep going, and every 10 cars is another meter boost. Its too much fun being a tumbling fireball of destruction.

There are secret "smash" paths and billboards all over the city to collect by driving through them. There are many Super jump ramps which are just fun as hell to hit.
The wrecks are very real looking.
You can collect many different cars by upgrading your license by completing so many wins, or after certain goals are met a car will be released onto the streets that if you have the chance to see driving around you get to chase it down and try to take it out, if you take out that car its sent to your junk yard and is now yours.
you can do custom paint jobs to all your cars and etc.
There are 75 cars total.

The soundtrack is allright, theres a handful of good songs and a bigger handful of annoying songs, which im happy you can turn off the songs you dont want to ever hear. 50% of the songs are just instrumentals from the other burnout games.

my only beef with this game is it feels very impersonal because there are no people in the game.
Theres no one driving your car or any of the other cars, theres no one walking the streets. It just feels very empty when you see theres no one behind your wheel.

The online mode is seamless, you can jump into an online game at anytime you want, just press over on the dpad to bring up the menu, pick what you want and your there instantly. can invite your friends directly to your current game for some freeburning.

all in all its a great game, for someone who hates car games, that says alot!

I like Burnout Revenge a lot. If you haven't tried it, I suggest you pick it up, as I think it's only like $20 new now if you can find it. The gameplay is very similar to Paradise, but it's the standard racing setup where you just play specific tracks (backward, forward, different paths in different modes, etc). I bought Paradise a few days ago but haven't played it yet. The demo was pretty cool, but I miss how in Revenge you could run into the back of cars and it would basically knock them out of your way and give you some boost power... so you pretty much couldn't wreck when you're going the direction of traffic unless you hit an 18 wheeler or something. It made the game feel extremely fast all the time.

I'm sure I'll like this one, too.

you do earn boost when taking down other cars, but you can crash into anything and wreck if you hit it head on at full speed. if your lucky and just clip it pretty hard youll get the option to drive away, but when wrecking you just come right back in the same spot with your car partially restored.

I was playing it the day we got it shipped to us, on ~saturday, and did they take out the "crash in to everything and cause really huge wrecks" event? I'm sorely disappointed if they did...

Well I mean in Revenge if you literally ran directly into the back of a car, their car would just fly off the road. Anyhow, I opened the game and started playing it. It's pretty cool. :)

You might be able to see what I'm talking about in this video:

Supposedly Burnout 3 is really good, too, but I've never played it.

I haven't found one of those yet. I didn't particularly care that event.

that event is still in and occurs on every road, its called show time.
hit your left and right bumpers while driving on a road to activate showtime. its a bit different than the causing a wreck in revenge, but its still just as fun.
you can still hit the backs of cars and the sides and send them flying off the road, but if you ram at incredible speeds you will usually wreck, Otherwise its just called a traffic check or a Takedown, it looks like it played about the same in that revenge video.
