Buy/Sell things?

I saw the thread "Gamecub for sale", and weather or not its actually about that, i thought that it was a good idea. An old forum i used to frequent used to have a buy/sell stuff forum sections, and it was one of the busier parts of it.

I also thought about all the junk i have in fairly mint condition, and if i can pawn it off to someone who will make use of it, instead of pawning it off for nearly 1/5th of the price, i figure why not?

Don't know how many people would actually use it, but with all the xbox360/PS3/Wii stuff going on there is bound to be someone selling.

Just a thought.
 
Well the choice of whether or not to is up to Cmdr/Elei/Reeve. But obviously the board and its staff won't be obliged to oversee or investigate any transactions or anything so it would be completely down to the parties involved.

However, if it did go ahead and the people involved trusted one another, it would be a grand idea.
 
This would suck. This is a gaming forum, more on point a FF forum for just our server. Adding the WoW section is understadable, but why would we want to turn QCDN into eBay?
 
Bad idea. You can go other places to do this kind of stuff and the last thing we need is a bunch of flameboard topics saying "omgz so-and-so jacked mah shit"

For the time being I'm going to recommend against it. There may be hidden liabilities. I'll table it to Reeve and see what he thinks.
 
Yeah I know, it's a lot to expect from someone with a red name.

This used to be soley a gaming forum. It's not anymore. This forum has topics of every subject matter. Ever been to Off-Topic?
 
Why would we need to add a buy/sell section where there are already several, vastly more effective sites that do the same thing. That'd be like trying to add our own youtube section or something; there's just not any real reason for it.

I would assume becuase there's probably some shallow semblance of trust, or at least, acquaintanship, between the frequent forum-goers here.

Because this site appeals almost soley to gamers, therefore you have much better odds of selling a game related item.
 
Yes, because you have such a hard time finding people to buy your stuff on ebay or craigs list. :wacko:

You're not selling anything rare, or anything that the people who frequent this forum are likely to even want or need; because they are gamers, they're more likely than not going to either already have what you're selling or have owned/played it in the past and don't need to again. Plus, given that there's only maybe 500 people who frequent the boards regularly, you'd get far more responses much faster; along with people more likely to find better deals using a selling website than this forum.

I'd like to hear some reasons for selling the stuff here. They have to be actual reasons, not just "but there's gamers here," or "we have other boards not about FFXI here." There's only been one attempt to sell something on these boards that I can remember, so there's not even a big enough need for it. This could also open up the bottle for direct selling of FFXI account information on this forum, and no one's going to want that.

I believe it's been decided (hope I'm not talking prematurely) against a bored specifically for buying/trading rl items. However, that does not mean that if someone would like to post in Off Topic that they are trying to dump some old games off, that it'll be a bad thing. Personally, it sounds slightly confusing and difficult to do cause I'm not 100% sure about legalities, but just as long as no one sues, have fun I spose!
