So I got cable internet and For the first few days it was fine
but now it will randomly loose signal and kick me off of everything.

It runs through a splitter and I usually have to reset the modem and repair the connection
Is there something that I am doing wrong? Or should I call Time Warner

I was hopping for a quick fix that one of you geniuses might now
soooo help me out.

I actually have the exact same problem and would like to see an answer. My intronetz were fine until my ISP Adelphia switched to Comcast. Ever since then my connnection has sucked ass, and i have to re-set my modem about every other day to even get on the damn thing. I run a wired router for 2 computers. Thanks

Its Comcastic!

I do internet tech support for DSL, but cable I'm sure is close to the same..

You connect with a broadband connection or you have PPPOE built-in to your modem?

I would test out the connection without the splitter, if you can. How often does it go out? You can just have your computer connected to the Internet have it just ping over and over to verify that your connection is still up. Start -> Run "cmd". Then type "ping yahoo.com -t". If you don't get a reply, then you know your connection is down. if you need to go AFK for a while, you can do so, and just come back and look at the responses. If you don't see any issues with the direct connection, then the issue might be with your splitter, or your ability to split the cable in that area.

Your splitter - is it rated for cable modems? The cheap splitters usually only pass 10-1100hz, whereas the modem-ready splitters pass 10-2200hz or so. This may make the difference. Modem-ready splitters are only a couple bucks more than the cheap splitters.

I will check on it down at radioshack

The issue was happening over and over last night but so far its only happened once today.

I will call the company if the problems persists tonight, but if anyone knows anything lemme know.

Also my DSL at home(im in a dorm) used to go out very frequently usually the same time everyday, Its thru Verizon. Im not sure of the modem becuase its at home but I think its Westell, a very old model.

Thank you

Radio Shack definitely has the modem-ready splitters. I used to work there and sold them, $12.99 cdn iirc for single-in dual-out. Gold plated, has a silver sticker on it. Radio Shack brand. Hell I could probably dig up the SKU but I'm sure if you ask them they'll know exactly what you're after.

Not sure how far you've gotten on this, but I also have Time Warner and it turned out that splitting the line before the modem can cause it to act up like that, I had them run a separate line for my cable modem before it reaches the TVs just to avoid all those disconnections and lag issues. You might also want to have them come out and check your lines for signal leaks, those can also cause issues, and if you get those leaks fixed now(if you have any), you won't have them crying to come and fix it later when the FCC pitches a fit about it.
