Cait Sith enters the scene! (String Table Entry)

First of all, Cait Sith the character ONLY appears in FFVII and he was, as someone has already mentioned, one of the most annoying and obnoxious characters in ANY Final Fantasy game. There is a Cait Sith doll in FFX, a costume in FFX-2, and some Cait Sith cards in FF Fables: Chocobo Tales

The reason why Final Fantasy USED to be a great franchise was because each game had its own unique identity and story. The only exceptions being the ubiquitous character named Cid who liked to tinker with things, crystals, airships, chocobos and a few of the summonable allies. Now all Final Fantasy means is, "How can we cross-reference as many themes/characters/plots/locations into our new games in order to rake in as much fanboy money as possible." In a consumer economy you vote with your money and I'm casting my vote for the Less Recyling, More Originality camp.

The reason I asked, was because Cait Sith is one of the most well-known characters. Bringing him back isn't necessarily due to lack of creativity. Its because that's what they think the fan-base want. They don't go "Man, dude, this pot is awesome. Man, I'm like, completely out of ideas. Totally dude. What if we, like, take Cait Sith, like, totally." They didn't even need to add Cait Sith, they could just have made the Carnevorous Maw swallow people to the past and be done with it. They added him because they thought the fan-base would like him. Personally, I find him adorable, and I'm sure a lot of people do so as well.

And remember, it wasn't actually Cait Sith that was obnoxious. Need I remind you that he was just a robot controlled by another person in FFVII?

You know, if you get so offended by them adding an adorable cat, there's always the "Delete" button on the character selection page. There's also the option of not buying the expansion.

Final Fantasy has its own unique identity and story. Adding Cait Sith to it doesn't make it suddenly lose all its personality and story. The game doesn't revolve around Cait Sith.

Also, as been said before, Cait Sith have been in other games. And liek most other things in Final Fantasy (Fafnir, Tiamat, Odin, Jormungandr, Charybdis, and many, many, many more) they have a mythological background.

Cait Sith (Cat Sidhe) is a creature from Celtic mythology said to resemble a large black cat with a white spot on its chest. It was said to haunt the Scottish Highlands. However, some say that Cait Sith isn't a fairy, but is in reality a transformed witch.

edit: come to think of it, the mog was probably what was being controlled, was so long ago I played the game <.<;

What he said. If you really don't like it all just don't buy it lol

I appreciate the fact that they're sticking to their roots instead of pulling something of their ass like puppetmaster ~__~...

Other examples: Spell names, summons, jobs, all which have been in past FFs.

Repose came from Final Fantasy Tactics as well.

Theres also Cait Sith in FFVI. Originally named Stray in the english SNES version, but since then, translated to the correct name in any subsequent releases.

Yup, he confuses all enemies out in the battlefield. Comes jumping out with his trademark horn and crown. XD

Probably named Stray after its original meaning, a stray cat (Kellas Cat) in the Scottish highlands.

Just a guess <.<;

We'll only have to wait and see. He can be the direct opposite of Carby, in both size and power!

(needs moar roll eyes so that certain unnamed people will understand its a joke)

The confuse effect isn't even in the game (as in attacks both allies and enemies, not charm). And since Confuse is the only trait she's connected to as a summon, it's be kinda odd to see how this one would be summonable.

actually, Confuse is in the .dat's, just not implemented. There's also Reflect, which is the spell people believe PLD will get. However, I'd think it'd be something like Damage Spikes, which is what Dragons have (and Corsairs can do with Gallant Roll). Although the literal translation is "shield blocks"...

I know the spell is in the dats, but the status effect itself isn't (unless there's some mystery HNM that uses it, I wouldn't know)

There's a few of weird ones. Such as Gradual Petrification and Bane.

There's also new Dances which Dancer don't have access to. Assume they're either coming, or mob-only.

Lethargic Daze
Sluggish Daze
Weakened Daze

Note: Daze is the status effect you give by using Drain Samba and Haste Samba. Drain Samba = Drain Daze, everyone that hits the mob gains a Drain effect. Haste Samba = Haste Daze, same deal. So "Daze" is really a buff that all your allies gain by hitting a Dazed enemy. Although I suppose "Daze" could be the effect you gain by Steps as well. We'll have to wait and see.

Pretty sure at least Weakened Samba would be mob only.

I fail to see what people could hate about a cute little kitty cat.
I say the dunes DESERVES to be used as a litterbox anyway.
