I'm coming up on mid-40's with 3 jobs and I'm taking them all up to 75. WHM, SAM, and THF to be exact. I love them all and really enjoy, but that's not the case. I was thinking about getting into Sky when I'm up high enough. I believe I have to be 60 am I right? Also, I know there's a few sky linkshells out there and unfortunately to say, my schedule sucks. How flexible are linkshells to a persons RL schedule? I work like 60-70 hours a week and am mainly on in the evenings. Wednesdays I static in the evening. Sundays, once football season comes up, I have season tickets to the Baltimore Ravens games. So sunday's I do that and also have a jet ski I take out and stuff. As I work with people every single day and that's how I make my money, I completely understand how my personal life doesn't fit into a good schedule with most Sky shells. I sincerely doubt people are going to go for it, but I wanna get into some different things to maybe do. I'm not the best, I'm not the worst, and I'm not even to that level yet. lol but I was just wondering. Also, which class should I level to 60 first of all of them. I'm splitting up time with them, but I figured "Shit, these guys know more than me." So there's my questions in my long, rant of a post.

1) Sky LS's conforming to RL schedule? Does this happen? how flexible is it?
2) What level must I be to start sky?
3) What class is needed/best for sky? THF/SAM/WHM? WHM is locked into a static, and raises slower

Thanks guys, look forward to some well informed replied ^_^ See yah

For dyanmis and sky

70+ for melee

65+ for mages

I'm told its best to wait until 75 so you can get into the more serious endgame lses, I imagine your free time on ffxi and irl would be very crammed since its a long ongoing process.

Just be sure of what you're getting yourself into before you sign up, if you miss an important event it could cost you your pearl of that sky ls.

What do you mean by best job in sky? Not sure how to answer it

SAM would be better for sky than THF. WHM would be better than both but it's going to level more slowly, as you said.

RL scheduling can cause some conflicts as your attendance will be iffy, and some endgame shells would have a real problem with that. Mine has a minimum monthly attendance cutoff for lotting Sky drops but otherwise is understanding of Real Life™'s importance.

Nice Trademark emblem on Real Life ^.~ Yeah, I'm pretty honest though. If they say "Can you be here at X time" and I can, I'll be there. If I say I'll be there, I will be kinda thing. I wasn't sure if THF would be preferred for TH2 ^_^

With the which job is better, I'm talking about out of the three jobs I enjoy and am currently leveling up: white mage, thief, and samurai. Which of those three do you find to be better. It'll be a couple months before I get those three to 65+, since naturally RL schedule is a bit hectic and leveling 3 jobs at once can be a tad bit rough.

Any more questions? D= THF isn't wanted as much because most shells already have 2-3 - enough to ensure one thief at every event, more or less. SAM/THF does excellent damage to just about anything super high level, and WHM are always useful, period.

Cool, thanks for the info ^_^ I know you answers Samurai and whitemage over thief; I was answering Khidir's question is all ^.^ But yeah, Samurai/Thief is gonna be awesome; After 60 that's all I'm doing. Huge damage and gets me giddy =B But now I know what to do! Easier to do the most in a small amount of time if you know how to strategize and plan things out, so this information helped out a lot. Goal #1 = Get Samurai to 70 ASAP, WHM in static up. Try to talk static people into more nights a week >.>;;

Most Skyshells will be happy enough to keep you around if you farm the pop items with them on a regular basis. Missing some of the bigger fights punishes you without the LS having to, since you miss out on any rare/ex drops. I'd say even someone with kinda sketchy schedualling conflicts is welcomed into most sky LSs just because most established members hate doing it(farming) themselves so much. You would probably get a payout % for any of the sellable items that came from the stones you farmed too. Not as much as you would if you were there, but if you just liked being in sky durring your free time, its not a bad way to spend it I guess.

I was hoping it would be this way. Naturally, I want to get some rare/ex drops. But y'know, it just kinda seems fun and it's one more thing I can eventually say that I do ^_^ Credentials, Exclusive possessions, new friends, another aspect of fun, good times. I mean, that's about all I ask out of the game. Plus, I love seeing new places. That's really the other thing I love most about this game. ^.^

Just for your record though, I've never done sky before. I just made the assumption that since everyone's major complaints about sky are either farming issues or gilsellers, that being there to gather pop items would be important, since the big fights wont happen without them. I could be totally wrong though, since I have no first hand experience.

I just imagine if a SKY LS had someone walk up and say, "Hey I don't need any of the awsome rare/ex shit but I'll farm you some pop items", they'd jump all over it.

Careful, The RMT are watching=P

Hey Kotsu. It really depends on the shell. There are shells that are much more steeped in the end-game business than others. By that I mean they have much stricter guidelines about attendance and lotting procedures than others. The shell I'm in has a wide range of people in it and from all over. The shell basically runs on PST but there are people who live in Europe in the shell so there's some flexibility as to how long they are able to stay and that type of thing. Mostly I think it's about committment and time invested. If you can be a regular part of the farming of pop items and can be there for most fight nights, then you should be in good shape.

What I'd suggest is to check out the ls's website. Most have some kind of application process and will give you an idea of the type of shell it is and what they expect of members. That's probably your best resource, short of speaking to one of the shell leaders before joining up.
