Calling all dragoons

Sushi gives +15% accuracy (HQ +17%, I believe) and that's based on your current skill rating. So at 50, skill 153 x 15% = ~22 accuracy.

And with a Bard, I've always seen better results with the melees eating Sushi and just having double Minuet played so everyone's hitting like a truck with great accuracy to boot.

I personally used Sushi until I hit 75 on Monk because my gear would give a max of ~30 +ACC while a single piece of Sushi was giving me +40. This let me swap in my +STR rings and keep my Brown Belt on for more Haste instead of eating up those slots with Sniper's and Life Belt. Once I get some Hand-to-Hand Merits and an Optical Hat I'll consider switching to Curry, but until then I haven't seen any diminishing returns with Sushi yet.

Then again, maybe I enjoy hitting in Ranperre's with a 90%+ hit rate even when blinded via Black Cloud.

If expense is an issue, try Bream Sushi - last I checked it's only about 14k/stack and gives the same +ACC as the rest, just not the +STR or +AGI you get from Squid or Sole.

I see, thanks for clearing some things up.

I'd thought I'd share, I noramlly play sword magridal and valor minuet III currently, from what I've seen the drg and drk are definitely around 90% acc, and then in the late 50s between their SH and haub and my songs getting more powerful from skillups(acc/attk/etudes improve with singing/instrument skillups) I think they'll still have awsome hitrate even without sushi.

Back in the old days when sushi was not an option, I don't remember anyone complaining about hit rates with a bard, even if their equips sucked, so if a party has a bard now, I really don't believe the melees need sushi now but didn't then. I'd go as far as saying it can be considered wasteful since they'll have awsome hitrates without it with a bard.

Even before I get magridal on, their hit rates seem very high yet still, the exception being when they pull one giving near 200 or more base xp, then the drk will have some minor problems. Of course magridal really hasn't made it a big issue, unless they go crazy and pull a ghost so it'll be "out of the way" , crazy bastards our melees are.

You are right in saying that a bard can stack attack songs though. But that outdated valor minuet that's stacked on top of the bard's more current version is as if not using the bard to his full potienal for the melees. If you stack 2 different songs of their highest tier(such as valor and magridal) available you're getting more 'total' stats out of your bard.

Bottom line - If your melees are not at 85-90% min hit rate with the bard's most recent magridal song, the problem lies not within the food, but the equipment of the melee. If you can't reach reach that hitrate with a brd and need sushi to cover the last bit to attain that hitrate, it's an equipment or camp problem. Such as going to a xp location way too early for your groups lvl/ability or lacking critical armor.

Example of the usefulness of bard in not needing additional acc- Back before I got my snipers long ago for my thief, whenever a bard would be in the group, I would be easily at or over 90% acc without snipers, and just a lifebelt and all my normal dex and mainly dex+ equipment.

Also, when you hit the low 60's and up melee jobs get access to Minuet Earring, so your double Minuet is also adding 6 Accuracy to the mix. With Minuet III and IV you're giving the melees something around +110 attack (and if they have the earring, +6 Accuracy.) Add in the +37 or so accuracy from Sushi and they're getting +43 accuracy and +110 attack.

With Minuet IV + Madrigal + Meat, they're getting about the same attack+ (105-115 or so depending) and around +25 accuracy (28 with a Minuet Earring.) In the end, Mad/Min/Meat is sacrificing a pretty large accuracy chunk in exchange for a fairly low attack boost (if at all) vs. Min/Min/Sushi.
