Calling for help..mind actuly HELPING?

I was in Yutunga today leveling up. When a ninja taru calls for help on a mandy, so i go and help him. I check his health and it was full, and the rest of my pt comes to help.

What does he do? Zone. He doesn't even bother staying to attack. He's not dying, people are helping him..the least he could do is help everyone fight the mandy too

I don't mind people calling for help, but if your not in grave danger...and you just run away, I don't feel like helping you.

Maybe I'm just mean :/

Well, I have to wonder what the hell he was doing anyway. Did he think he could solo the Mandy or something?

This may be a premature guess, but maybe he knew he was a shit ninja with shit gear and wasn't doing SHIT for damage so his help wasn't any good.

...okay so that was just a ballpark guess from nowhere... it was a fun one. I apologize if it's not true.

I don't know either. I remember I saw a ninja in Kazham with a very underleveled subjob warrior that was level 6. It *MIGHT*'ve been him..but I can't say xD

Heh.. A couple of weeks ago, we were partying in Garbiage Shitadel. There was a party nearby lead by none other than our good friend, Colbw--something or other. So they're fighting, we're fighting and suddenly they get attacked by a Fallen Major that someone had zoned.

Now, we had just finished off our mob when they call for help. We rushed over to give a hand (even if it was Colbw-'s party) and what do they do? ESCAPE!!! That's right... bastard's escaped their party, leaving us to fight the Fallen Major and a few aggroing bats. Most of our party were able to escape shortly after. However, our tank was not so lucky and died.

Makes you want to ignore "calls for help", sometimes.

I don't usually see people call for help often, but this is what I do when it happens:

-If I'm easily able to pwn the mob, I kill it. Example would be if I'm on my way to Selbina to hop on the ferry for some fishing - I can easily kill a gob that someone called for help on.

-If I can't easily kill the thing, I only help if I know they're gonna fight it too. For example, if a party called for help on a mob and then tried to zone it, I'm not gonna help. But if they're still fighting it and called for help, I'll help.

-If I know the mob is gonna kill everyone even if I help, I probably won't unless the rest of my party helps. For example, if I'm leveling on the stairs of Garlaige and someone calls for help on some funnel bats someone zoned, I'm probably just gonna leave and wait until everyone else dies and the thing goes away. This is especially true if the mob doesn't aggro/link, or if it's far enough away for us to not worry about it aggroing or linking.

-If I'm in a party and they want to ignore the person that called for help, then I'll probably do the same thing unless I'm friends with the person that needs help.

-If the person that called for help is someone I don't really care for (such as Colbwa), I'm only gonna help to save the other party members, or if I also want the thing dead (such as if it's a skeleton someone zoned in Garlaige).

-If I start helping and the people I'm helping run away, I yell at them to find out why they did that and probably /blist someone for a few days.

Here is what i do when someone calls for help...i help them...most of the time they stay and help...but on those rare occasions when they decide to be a jerk and run away guess what i do...i run away...its not that big of a deal...if you are worried about running away then you shouldnt help out in the first place...more often than not people call for help on stuff that even everybody in the immediate vicinity cant kill...

here is a good example

when i was putting thie finishing touches on leveling my WHM sub in the worst place to level ever (citadel) some jerk decided he was going to MPK another party that had recently kicked him...of course ignoreing the fact that it was packed right there at the zone to saru...and his MPK or the one party forced the other 4 parties there to zone...well while we are all standing outside waiting for the skeletons to go away we are chatting in /say mode...basically yelling at the jerk who caused al of us undue strife and whatnot...well someone gets the bright idea..."Hey there are 28 people here. Let's go kill the skeleton."...so we do...or at least we try...in the end i think 4 or 5 people rezoned the stupid thing (damn blood saber >.<) and the rest of us were just strewn about the stairs and the halway...

the moral of my story is...if you have a problem with getting killed in a GAME then maybe you should just not try and help people...bot dont be very suprised when you are left all alone when you yourself call for help

(note: i have been trying to log on since 9am and it is currently 4:05pm so that might have quite a bit to do with me posting this right now...part boredom and part wondering what the hell SE spends my $17 a month on)

I think everyone took this the wrong way so I'll repeat myself

Someone ELSE called for help and just ran away when they weren't anywhere CLOSE to dying. I DID help, but got angry that the person ran away

Nah, i can beat that, CN, fighting flies, party behind us pulls a fly links an exo. they call for help. We have no tank ATM, he was on the way. So we figure y not help. Yea rule is dont call for help wait for us to engage than cast escape.

Cani, you'll be happy to hear this.

I was running through Buburimu the other day and I saw a group taking on rabbits by the zone. 2 of the members drop dead as I am running by, so I tab through the remaining people and the MOB. MOB was like 1/4 dead, and would surely kill the rest of the party.

I was surprised to find that they didn't call help.

So...I told him to call help, and prompty beat the daylights out of the rabbit. Got thanks from the Taru PLD that had 2 HP left and would have been the next to go. He was level 9.

If they wanted to stay there, I think they know it would be a deathwish after that incident, so I didn't bother giving any advice. I didn't want to come off like I was telling them their business any more than I had to. That lesson spoke for itself.

I dunno about the taru. I could be wrong but he's a taru with probably less than 3 shadows left depending on distance from zone. He COULD have had too much hate built up to really stick around safely and if his PT wasn't there then he might have been afraid to pull hate. In my experience I can never really count on a cure if I have to call for help, mainly just ppl to beat on the mob with me until it dies. But a lot of the times ppl have only wanted to beat on it and not tank it. He probably didn't even have time to cast Utsusemi: Ichi when you helped him. And that is if he even saw someone else voke it before he got to the zone. It's hard to say so I couldn't really pass judgement without hearing his side. All I'm saying is that with 1 nin vs a mandy at that lvl there are ways he could have still died. And then what would be the point in calling for help?

Zealot..he was really close to the zone to Kazham..he had no party that I know of. He was all by himself when I went to help him.

why do well known people get all the smart people who CFH? there have been countless times when i've seen a situation like this and i've told ppl to CFH and they don't. true story, i was running through S. Gust. (my choco dropped me, damn AFK ><) and i saw these 2 people having trouble with a Quadav (or turtles as i call them  ) and ask for help in /say so i /say call for help and long story short, they die and both of them bitch me out in /tell and i just say that it's their fault that they didn't call for help. /sigh but to stay with the OP, yeah, CFH, ESPECIALLY when your perfectly fine, is just dumb. not staying to help the mob you CFH on is even worse, as it makes you look like your gonna skip out at the first sign of trouble rather than help people

If someone calls for help ill give them a hand but thankfully i havent had that experience as of yet when the person/party that calls for help promptly zones right afterwards of me joining in. Regardless, thats pretty shitty of the person to do :(
