I've done Crystal Fist I three times now, and even after giving the correct information, the NPC says I've failed. Anyone else have this problem?

The first time he wanted me to tell him how to make a Bone Hairpin. He asks 3 questions each time.

Attempt 1 - Bonecrafting - Bone Chip:

What crystal? Wind (correct).

First Ingredient? Bone Chip.

"I'm sorry, but we don't have the time to wait for you to remember all your recipes. You might want to check your notes before coming back again."

Attempt 2 - Clothcrafting - A Spool of Red Grass Thread:

What crystal? Lightning (Correct).

First ingredient? Red Moko Grass (Correct).

Second ingredient? Red Moko Grass. (This I can see how I might've messed up, there are two recipes. One requires two clumps of grass. The other requires grass and a spindle).

"I'm sorry, but we don't have the time to wait for you to remember all your recipes. You might want to check your notes before coming back again."

Attempt 3 - Clothcrafting - Flaxseed Oil:

What Crystal? Water (Correct).

First ingredient? Flax flower (Correct).

Second Ingredient? Flax Flower (Again, the recipe calls for water crystal and two flax flowers. There is no option to select 'no other ingredient', you have to pick something).

"I'm sorry, but we don't have the time to wait for you to remember all your recipes. You might want to check your notes before coming back again."

I don't see how I can be messing this up, I'm using websites for the recipes, and I'm double checking all my answers. They're correct, yet the NPC is failing me...

Happened to me once. I decided not to touch it until they fix it.

I've heard you have to give the answer quick, but I gave it within 10 seconds. And if they expect you to know that quick, thats just lol..

That could be it. I've been taking my time to make sure I don't mess up.

I have one more tag, I'll try hitting the answers ASAP.

Well I did it fast and still failed :(

Hit them really fast and it worked. Bullshit stipulation if you ask me.

Have yet to fail this one.. maybe my internet connection to wiki is faster?

It just seems like you're taking too much time, I usually give my answers within 15 secs to be safe. You get the same amount of exp and AN for the supply ops though, and it's usually only one item. Or just do the escort for more points.

Well, the reason you failed the 2nd one is lightning crystal, not wind, (Unless you typo'd that)

On the same note, I tried doing Vanguard last night in Jugner Forest. A word of advice, Don't. For the life of me I could not see a way to cross the river to get to the campaign outpost. Unless you have to go around the mountains to the north and get there that way, but by then I was so pissed off at the Recruit I was ready to see him warp off. I actually let him run away after about 29 minutes just hoping he'd aggro something and get killed.

Im sticking to north gusta thanks xD

Yeah, I think you gotta do it under 30 seconds or something for each question, but I did it last night, and when he started asking for that one item, I already had the site opened, so then immediately picked each response and got all 3 right with no "You're too slow" message." It was an easy 90 exp and 480 allied notes.

Perhaps it could also be the certain craft you chose too? Other than that, I think you're just not picking them fast enough :/

Ah yeah, that was a typo, sorry.

Yeah, I got it to work when I hit the answers really fast.

Small tip: Tab out once you know what item he's going to ask about, but before he's asked the first question. That way you can get your info without the timer starting.

I did that first time and still lost >_>

Oh wells, doesnt matter. I did it again today and got them all quick like.

I'm not sure of the details of this particular Campaign Battle, but going from the East side of the map to the Southwest in that zone is kind of a pain in the ass. You need to zone through Vunkerl Islet at L-6 to come out in the South part of the map at like J-12. There's no other way I've seen to cross the river to the Southwest part of the map and I spent time running from one end of the river to the other. If the Campaign outpost is at I-8, you need to zone in from the South part of the map to get there, since there are walls and other physical boundaries preventing you from getting across.

The Southwest area of that map is probably the best place to farm Gnole claws for anyone doing the Bastok missions. I couldn't say it with real hard data to back it up, but the drop rate seemed to be higher there, rather than in Batallia Downs.

On a side note, I got my rank promotion and Brass Ribbon, and tried the next level difficulty for Material Production Campaign Ops. I've got my most experience as a Goldsmither, but I haven't leveled it in... three years I think? Anyway, Crystal Fist was easy, it asked how to make Gemstones, which is simply air scystal and the colour rock corresponding to the name of the gem. Easy stuff.

So I figured the next one couldn't be much more difficult, right? Well, they asked me to help them made a Slashing Dagger or something like that. :shok: I had no friggin clue and made the synth up... and got it wrong.

I'm sure it's different for each profession, but if you are expecting easy synth recipies, better check twice. I failed my first CO as a Brass ribboned soldier, and Hiryionpus or whatever wasn't pleased...

You have time to look it up for Crystal Fist I. I had FFXIclopedia open when I did mine. When it first shows the item there is a pause on the screen:

Blah blah the recipe I'm looking for is a _________, <hit enter to proceed>

When it first shows that prompt, you have time to flip over to your browser and reference it. Once he asks for the crystal the time timed thing starts up.

Yep. I had ample time to look up a recipe that I'd never even seen the finished item for doing this.

Everything he was asking me about cooking I got: Bam, Bam, Bam! Then, when I thought "This is easy." He asked me how to make a shadow apple. o.o I guess thru it.. incorrectly.

I did mine in Grauberg. I figure if it affects Campaign values, best to do it somewhere that needs it.

Did you solo? I feel like I'll get my ass handed to me if I go there >_>
