Can Apples run Vent?

No, at least mine can't and i have a pretty new one. I'm not sure which part of vent isn't compatiable, but i would be able to see everyone one on and everyone would be able to see me, but i couldn't hear anyone or say anything.

Dont get Apple?

I am a photo major, Apple is the best for video(minor) and photography editing.

Can Apples run TeamSpeak?

I read a post about this on some boards years ago, I can't remember where. From what I remember reading, Vent and TeamSpeak weren't Apple compatable however one of them was supposed to be adding the feature in the future. That said future would be now...

I just read...Ventrilo has an official MAC prototype version available for download so yes you can use Vent on your new laptop. Source: http://www.ventrilo.com/news.php?article=mac-232prototype9

Maybe 8 years ago. But these days theres no difference between PC and Apple. Aside from lack of software for Apples. Anyone who says different is a trendy apple fanboy.

That really depends on how in depth you are in to photo/whatever other artsy thing you are doing.

As a person that photoshops and edits movies on a daily basis, i can honestly say that macs are still far better in the art department than PCs are. Most of the high end programs are mac only.

What's the diff? Ever since Mac decided to adopt Intel processors, they've been using the same old CISC processors that PC's do. In the past, yes the Mac RISC processors excelled at... certain things. I will give the blasphemous heathens no more credit than that.

DUDE!!!! Mac OS is far more superior and stable than XP (off course if you even mention Vista i will roflmao)

Btw Vent runs in Mac, but there are certain items that are not yet compatible with the PC based Vent

I've never had an issue with XP, so I can't see how people can say OS X is more superior and stable.

I guess someones going to chime in with Mac OS being invulnerable to Trojans and Viruses next.

The Power Mac's are very capable. The hardware alone is what musical engineer's and media manipulators rely on. FSB's that would make a desktop PC drop it's jaw.

Don't worry Kelyon. Even if you DO get a Mac. (It's not ALL that bad). You can download Bootcamp from Apple themselves (FOR FREE) and install a version of Windows to your liking. I'd recommend against Vista. Pirated or true, you'll have Windows as a dual boot option. Best of both worlds.

Have fun.

I have Ventrillo client running on my two year old Powerbook. The issue I have is that the Vent Server that my LS runs is running a non-mac compatible configurations (I can't remember exactly what it was). So, if the server was a little different I could be doing Vent on my Mac.

In the last ten years of me owning a mac, I've maybe seen the blue screen of death, maybe four times. XP is definitely a good OS, but I see the OS X as just a little bit better than XP, I'd be happy with either.

Both Vent and TS have mac clients, but you have to tinker with the server codecs in some manner in order for the mac clients to connect to the server properly. I only know this because we have used both vent and TS in our shell, and our one mac user claimed he can't use the vent server for the reason stated above. I have no idea what goes into the specifics of that however.

Is it a matter of user-friendlyness? My WinXP installation that I've had for 5½ years has BSOD'd me about 4 times as well, and if I remember correctly those were related to my 1350-virus spree.

If you understand what Windows is good at and what Windows is bad at, you will encounter almost zero problems. Every OS has it's ups and downs, no doubt. I won't say WinXP is perfect and I won't (seriously) say OSX is flawed. I've been unable to understand what the big diff is since Mac's migration to CISCs.

In 10 years of owning a PC i've never seen a BSOD ever. I think I must be in the minority though ;)
