can we say /goodbye sky and hnm

The tier-1 drops weren't as bad as I thought.

HOWEVER, we still don't know what the tier 2 and tier 3 upgrades comes from, as everyone have only got the tier 1 items thus far.

I'm guessing tier 2 drops from the archaic gear, and tier 3 only drops from the boss. If this holds to be true, it'll be a whole lot harder to upgrade.

15 people x 15 drops per gear set at 3 drops per run = how many runs?

Much less run than dynamis since armor are not exclusive to one job AND u can do run everyday.

Got bored LFP, did a comparison of my current melee gear on MNK and SAM to Usukane... by full set, rather than by peice. TP comparison only, going by the entire set because set bonuses are there to be used.

Usukane: Somen/Haramaki/Gote/Hizayoroi/Sune-Ate

Defense +132
STR +16
DEX +13
AGI +3
INT +8
Accuracy +36
Evasion +29
Attack +17
Haste +8%
Store TP +13
Subtle Blow +5
Counter +2
Enmity +5
Set: Enhances Haste effect

MNK: Walahra/Shura/Melee/Byakko's/Dune

Defense +108
HP -20
HP +3%
MP+30
DEX +15
Accuracy +10
Attack +36
Haste +10%
Subtle Blow +4
Kick Attacks DMG:+30

SAM: Walahra/Shura/Hachiman/Byakko's/Saotome
(yes yes yes, I don't have full Store TP merits yet, and I can't afford a Haub+1)

Defense +119
HP +3
MP +30
STR +4
DEX +20
Accuracy +10
Attack +28
Haste +10%
Store TP +8
Enmity +1
Latent: Attack +10

Better STR, way better Accuracy, extra evasion, less attack, more than enough Store TP, more subtle blow, less haste, extra counter... The lesser haste is made up for by the set bonus haste (which will ignore the 25% total cap on gear, hope hope?), and the lesser attack by the massive accuracy, for less penalties while eating meat.

For PUP, we already know the answer, they have no melee gear of note.

For NIN, see Deci's post, unless the set haste is black belt class, won't be worth wearing the hands for, and thus making the set comparison pointless.

Again, main appeal of this set is the massive accuracy while keeping haste, allowing for meat absolutely anywhere, and meat makes up for the set's only real lack, Attack. Personally, I'd give up 16-20 attack on the hands in favor of being able to eat meat anywhere.

i'm not too experienced with end-game builds on other jobs, or I'd do those comparisons too... but here's one anyway, just guessing off of my experiences with WARs.

Ares: Mask/Cuirass/Gauntlets/Flanchard/Sollerets

Defense +158
HP +10%
MP +10%
STR +22
DEX +6
VIT +19
AGI +3
INT -3
MND -3
Accuracy +29
Attack +43
Evasion -19
Double Attack +2%
Adds Refresh Effect
Set: Enhances "Double Attack" Effect

Walahra/Adaberk/Dusk/Byakko's/Unicorn
(Again, going by what I've seen, if there's something way better, say so)

Defense +143
HP +80
MP +30
STR +13
DEX +25
Accuracy +15
Attack +20
Evasion -10
Haste +16% (in white HP, or with dusk)
Decreases Movement Speed

Better defense / HP / MP / STR / Attack / Accuracy. Extra VIT, Double Attack, more Double Attack. Did I mention better Attack?

But at the loss of 16% Haste... if it wern't for the haste, I'd say it's a better set. But because of that, it needs parsing, and I suspect the current gear would win. It'd make for a hell of a WS set, though. PLD/DRK/DRG should do better, but I don't know much about those jobs best DD TP gear.

which will ignore the 25% total cap on gear, hope hope?
I thought the cap for melee attack haste was higher then 25%, while recast time was capped at 25%?

I dunno about you, but I'd like faster Utsusemi cooldowns for that Enmity +5. >_>

i am sorry that nins have shown again and again how they have out tanked pld -_-

Where is that "Beating a dead horse" Icon? You show me a Ninja that can tank the new Kraken Club BCNM. Just like I'll show you I can't find a PLD (Supposedly) that can tank the Joyeuse NM.

Recast time is capped at 50% Haste. I dunno what the melee equip haste cap is, I've never heard of one.

Recasts from equip-based haste cap at 25%, it's been tested a good few times. Dunno if there's one on melee hits, I just want a faster Utsu.

Ahh thought people were talking about total recast cap.

It might be lolGenome, but he does know what he's talking about most of the time.

http://genomeffxi.livejournal.com/7471.html

Haste caps 25% from gear, 50% total, applies to both melee and recasts... But I have heard that the 50% cap is recast only, melee can go higher.

Actually there is paladin gear in there. I don't know about ya other PLD but I know I want this.

Ares's Cuirass
DEF:55 HP+3% MP+3% STR+12 VIT+12 ATT+24, Adds "Refresh" effect

I think it speaks for itself. I call the first one.
/em drools. I would never take this body equipment off. Too good to be true for WAR and PLD.

Too good to be true for WAR and PLD.

Adaberk is better... But since that's even less accessable than Ares's Cuirass, Ares's is a nice substitute, with its own perks.

I'd love to try Dragon's Aery one day, but that will never happen due to the fact that the claim is almost impossible. Finding dedicated peeps is also impossible nowadays. Salvage is looking mighty fine atm for the people who can't afford the time camping hnms.

Salvage takes up a significant amount of time, between keeping gil up (Needs meds and whatnot, Salvage = expensive), keeping AP up, and doing salvage, it'll be as many days as HNM takes... but, it won't be camping Fafnir at 3 AM, it'll be when you want to.

Now that I think about it, this gear really takes a resemblence to the instanced HNMs we've all been begging for.

I've tried it, it's true, recast from gear is capped at 25%, and to the best of my knowledge, and Genome's testing, so is melee.

I've never done testing with the 50% cap, but yea, I assumed melee could go higher. Recasts are capped, which was obvious from before the Hundred Fists change (used to drop recasts to 50%).

It's not really when you want to.

For people like me who don't get home till 11pm EST (Im in PST timezone) on weekdays and have a busy enough schedule with Dynamis, Sea and irl errands on weekends already I think it will be very hard to find 17 other dedicated and skilled players that can run 1-3 times a week that fit my availability.

I think I will be lucky to ever do Salvage regularily.

I was talking compared to HNM, obviously it's not a perfect world.
