Or AGI for that matter even, when factoring in how much str, atk, and mainhand damage you have in comparison when using sa/ta/saws/taws/sataws or what have you.

Here's my setups;

Weapons: Chicken Knife, Hornetneedle, Lightning Bow+1
TP gear: Walkure Mask, Chiv Chain, Spike Earring x2, SH, Battle Gloves, Woodsmans Rings x2, Amemmet Mantle, Life Belt, Republic Subligar, Bounding Boots

SATA: Emp Pin, Spike Necklace, Drone Earring x2, Black Cote, Custom F gloves, Deft Ring x2, Nomads Mantle, Royal Knights Belt, AF legs and Bounding Boots of course.

I usually eat Squid Sushi and always have 100tp for every round of sata (or sa/ta split up). I'm wondering though if I have too much dex (@ +32) and should maybe get some str in instead. I thought my SADE or TADE numbers (low 200s to sometimes 600s) are kinda lowish and inconsistent on Colibri parties levels 60-63. Also, is there anything I should look into getting between now and endgame (besides end game stuff that I'll shoot for)?

Thanks in advance :D

I recommond a few upgrades in gear. First start with daggers, they'll offer the most improvement for the least effort since they impact more than any single piece of equip. For the main hand, get a high base damage dagger with good DPS. Don't be afraid to get something with slightly lower DPS too as DMG is really important on that WS. Toss the hornets needle or store it, after the TP floor was removed it was only good on low defense mobs at the level you could first equip it and to be honest, there aren't any low defense mobs at 48. Off hand should be purely based on DPS and if possible added stats.

Sell Drone earrings and either use Spike earrings for SA+WS or upgrade those to Merman and/or add a minuet earring. Sell Nomad's Mantle and use Amemet full time for TP, SA, TA and WS. Upgrade to +1 when you can afford it, it really is that good and well worth the money. Switch out the bow if you're not pulling for a Bomb Core, it'll give more results in my opinion. AF legs are good for TA too, but I preferred to full time the subligar for the added attack.

You can also try to eat meat, you shouldn't have too many problems with that if you're fighting colibri.

Here is what I reccomend from what I have used in the past. Gear suggestions are based on lvl 65ish

Turf the Chicken knife I'd rather use a corsairs knife.
Turf the lightning bow. Get a cross bow and land some acid bolts. I use thugs +1 agi wooo

Shoot for high dmg main hand weapon and stat+ on off hand..

Not sure whats available for Main hand I am at work so cant check, but for off hand I used Garduda's dagger @ 65 or a +racc dagger for bolt dropping until marksmanship was uncapped.

Head I used Walkure (sp?) or Emp pin while farming or pulling (I gear swap way to much)

SH full time up until recently when I got dragon harness.

Neck CC or Spectacles full time

Minuete earing & +attk earing.

Dual snipers full time.

Life belt or Warwolfe belt unless you have swift belt.

I used AF pants for a while or the ToAH pants the +racc +acc ones cant remember the name

All I can think of until I get home in like 7 more hours ><

I think Vil instructed me a long time ago about how after a certain point, DEX+ doesn't give you as much rewards since your acc kinda gets "capped" out. As persay you are hitting 93% of the time, if you try to stack on 5 to 10 more DEX you might eek out only a few more percentage points, which at that point you would be better off increasing another stat with the open equipment slots or food. Someone else might be able to explain that better... urg...

If you are looking more explicitly for ws modifier damage, I'm not sure if the above applies. I do remember Jeska hitting 900 ~ 1,000 damage ws's as THF when we were abusing Colibri though...

For starters, I would trade in Chicken Knife for Darksteel Kukri +1. The higher base damage in the mainhand will result in higher WS damage. Looking at your TP gear, you have the right idea about TPing in Accuracy and Attack.

To address the inconsistency of DE:
Judging by your WS gear and food of choice, it's more likely the lack of Attack and possibly to a smaller degree lack of Accuracy. Here is my response to an earlier thread concerning DE.

Cherron said:
To vaguely answer your question, only wear enough accuracy to consistently land all the hits on DE. However, seeing as how you're eating sushi, you'll probably need a minimal amount. From personal experiences, I've found that to get higher and more consistent numbers I'd gear for Accuracy and Attack first and foremost. DEX/STR/AGI in the remaining equipment slots.

For starters, before you start an XP session, equip your typical WS gear and eat food. The ideal goal here is to get the mob to con "Low evasion and defense." If possible, slowly equip increments of accuracy until the mob cons low evasion. Afterwards, equip attack until it cons neutral or low defense. Keeping in mind, that if it still cons High Defense, it may be better to stack DEX/STR/AGI in those attack slots.

The problem with DE and probably all the other multi-hit WS, is that fact that it varies from race to race and from mob to mob. Also, the level difference between yourself and the mob is equally important. Your WS gear should change according to the mob you are fighting and the level difference. As you start to close the level gap and mobs start conning VT, adding more Attack and DEX/STR/AGI will yield better results.

Because of the fact that you eat sushi, I'm going to assume the mob cons Low Evasion, but High Defense. Basically, I would personally drop the Drone Earrings, Nomad's Mantle, and AF Legs for the Spike Earrings, Amemet, and Republic Subligar. Depending on what the mob cons, you may also want to look into getting a Swordbelt.

In addition, have you considered subbing /WAR? The Attack Bonus trait, Double Attack, and Berserk can increase your damage tremendously. Likewise, you can equip a Viking Shield of Strike Shield in the offhand slot to further increase your Attack. With Berserk active while eating sushi, the mobs will con at least neutral but more likely Low Evasion and Low Defense which is what you want to aim for when using DE. /WAR is my personal sub of choice till the early 70s when you have access to Blau Dolch and SK. You sacrifice a little survivability and possibly a slightly slower TP gain, but the damage you do will be much much higher.

Hmm. Thanks for all the replies, greatly appreciated, and a lot to think about :)

I didn't think attack had such a bearing on sa/ta/ws damage since it is auto-crit. Thought it was more about balancing str and dex/agi/ws mods.

So do I strictly care about dps in my offhand? I could still offhand the chicken knife and just mainhand a DK+1 then. I'll mess around with my other gear swaps as suggested :)

Ok.. i dont really feel like talking about gear at that level range because quite honestly i dont feel like looking it up. First of all i am a slightly lazy thf so i will go over my gear and explain my reasoning behind it.

As for TP
X's/blau (yea ^^ i like this combo)
ziska's if solo, lightning bow+1 or fire bomblet if im in a party
wal turban
love torque
brutal earring/ethereal earring (would be suppa but i have bushi for sam)
homam body or rapparee harness depending on acc issues
Homam hands
raja's/Ulthal
Foragers
swift
homam legs
homam feet

Basically my focus here is haste and acc and then after that maximizing what i can get out of str and attack

WS
X's/blau
ziska's if solo, lightning bow+1 or fire bomblet if im in a party
Heca head (nice dex and str)
love torque or breeze if SB
brutal earring/minuet earring (would be pixie if the i could win a lot)
Dragon harness
heca hands
raja's/Thunder ring
foragers or Cerberus (lose 3 attack but the enmity is nice if goin for TA)
Warwolf
dragon legs (damn u n legs for not dropping)
heca feet

Ok so as you can see my focus here is largely on dex and attack with a minor concern with str gear.

As far as food is concerned if you have to use sushi then only use sole but otherwise meat is a better choice if you can get away with it. Also in my experience with commander's cape it is not worth it but this may be something you want to test... i would rather have the 15 attack on the foragers.

Ignore anyone that tells you to take off the chicken knife. it's the highest dps offhand weapon until lv 68 and you're gonna get synced to under that anyway.
You have two options for your weapons until you hit 68.
option a is to mainhand chicken and offhand garuda's dagger for a speed setup.
The other option is to mainhand a cermet kukuri+1 and offhand either a garuda's or a chicken knife. Chicken knife is an amazing peice for pulling due to it's latent effect so in terms of practicality it's above garuda's unless you're fighting blm mobs on windsday.
If you have wotg you can get some cobra gear once you hit lv 68. hands , legs , and feet are probably the better parts for you.
Judging from what you said earlier i'm assuming you misunderstand how SA+ DE works. Only the first hit is modified by the sneak or trick attack while the rest of the hits on DE are "regular" ws hits.
You're already past the point of needing acid bolts. everything in TAU resists acid bolts to hell that you will fight except maybe some eureca and the stuff in that shithole aka C mire so trying to land the acid bolts endups up as counterproductive since you would deal more damage simply attacking than the acid's would increase damage by.

A long time ago I was talking with Langly about gear and stats. We ended up looking at all the pdif/etc stuff and found that there was a point at which it was more beneficial for me to stop applying DEX/AGI with SA(TA) and begin applying more Attack and STR. It's a decently high amount of AGI/DEX that is added before the Attk/STR is more valuable and I'm not sure when/if you will hit that since you're a hume and not a mithra like myself who already has high DEX/AGI and lower STR. Once I figure out all the information again I'll relay it your way or post it on the NT site with my bard info. Maybe Langly still has all the info...
