Did you know you changing the address on your own package is considered mail fraud?

Back Story:

I ordered some clothes online coming out of CA,USA. I placed the order on Jan 25th.

The order was to be sent with the USPS, clear customs, and make the rest of the trip across Canada with the Canada Post Service.

It finally showed up today and went out for delivery, It never made it to my doorstep. When I was placing the order online, I didnt put in the Unit Number on the address (which clearly doesnt matter because you cant miss the huge "Company Name" logo on the front, which is 4 units long.

Due to the fact I didnt put the Unit # on there, Canada Post has classified it as "Undeliverable Mail" and sent it back. No, not back to the depot.. Back to California.

After calling multiple times and raising hell about this package, Even though my name is on it, and I have to sign for it, I cant change the address on it because thats tampering with mail, they wont do it because its mail fraud.

The only way to get this package back to me is to call the place that shipped it, get them to open an inquiry with the USPS, who will look into it, and contact the Canada Post. By the time this will be all done, it'll be back in the states anyways.

No one to blame but myself, but I didnt expect this to happen as it was the first time ive ever ordered stuff online. I sure as hell will only ship UPS or Fedex now.

If you ever buy shit online, dont ever, ever, let it go without checking the address.

Gonna go wait another 2 weeks for my package. Afk.

Edit: USPS is slow as hell too XD

LMAO you phail hehe... Genk... I could have told you (and no offense to anyone but this is based on years of experience with US customs and Canada post operations), you have to treat them like they are 3 year olds and hold their hands. They can't fill out their own documentation properly being trained professionals, so you overlooking a small detail is understandable ;p

Sorry, soon you'll have your clothing :)

All postal services are evil. Especially UPS.

This story is kinda goofy, but I'll never use UPS again.

Anyways, so I live on a farm and my mom's hobby is to breed horses. One day she decides she's going to get some frozen horse semen shipped in from Oregon. The owner of the stallion owns her own personal 'cooler', and anyone in the livestock business knows what I'm talking about here. Her contract was that we had to have the cooler sent back to her immediately- it was a $20 per day charge the longer we had it. I had no idea of this until AFTER I went to UPS to ship the god damn thing out, but that wasn't really the point of this story.

I got to the UPS store with the cooler and fill out the paperwork to ship it back to Oregon. The cooler itself has the FULL address of the farm it came from, plus I brought in a sheet with the address on it, as well as filling in the entire form correctly. I think I paid about $40 to get it delivered by friday (it was monday) and I also decided (thankfully) to have it tracked online.

I go home, and hours later, I get an email saying "package has been shipped out". I looked over all the details, and the address was correct EXCEPT the zip code. Instead of going to Oregon, the fucking thing was going to somewhere in NY, to an address that doesn't exist.

I panic and called the store, as well as the 1-800 numbers from the websites. I didn't get any answers until the next day. They said they were sorry, but they couldn't change the package until it got to its final destination, even if the package was going to be at different spots along the way, such as a one stop off in Buffalo. To top it off, I had to check the tracking online everyday, and I had to call UPS whenever I saw it get to its arrival to tell them to change it. They could have easily sent out a message to their workers, but instead made me responsible for it.

It was a pain, and the thing finally arrived there, but ugh, never using UPS again.

Am I the only one who got totally distracted by the statement "frozen horse semen"?

I must've gotten lucky with my Canada Post issue. It was a little harrowing at first...

I ordered some pieces for my phone from Ebay, seller was in Taiwan or something so I knew to expect delays. I had it shipped to my office building at work. However I also forgot to put the suite #; I only entered the street address and there were 5 business in my office building at that time. So without a suite # the package could end up going to any of those 5 businesses.

I didn't realize this until I received confirmation from Canada Post that the package had been delivered and signed for. I was thinking someone signed for my stuff and ran off with it. So I checked with all 5 business in the building to see if any of them had signed for it; nope. I checked with Canada Post and asked them to track it down - I dunno what the hell happened but the guys I spoke with were obviously stoners. In 3 days I spoke with 3 different guys, who all work with eachother, and none of them knew about the discussion I had with the others.

Anyways I had given up all hope. It was a cheap piece so it wasn't a huge loss. Then about 2 weeks later, the package shows up on my desk. I still don't know who signed for it or where it was but it somehow worked out in the end.

Maybe Canada post started to track it down, and when they started to question the recipient, he probably denied it, then shamefully sent someone to deliver it to you.

Or maybe Canada post just messed up.

Does that mean your naked now? :nyam:

I wonder who put it in the tube, and how much they get paid to whack off a horse.

Vets and a lot.

Fun fact: Actually, the horse doesn't get whacked off. Instead, farms have this thing called a "mounting block" which looks like that mounting horse gymnists use. In front of this block, they bring out a mare who is in heat. The stallion comes out and gets it on with the mounting block. The vet has to collect it while the stud is er....distracted.

It's like a guy getting it on with a blow up doll while his girlfriend is standing naked in front of him.

I saw this on a show called Dirty Jobs.. hehe. They do this will bulls, horses, and most farm yard animals it seems. :)

Working in an online store, I can tell you how incredibly annoying it is when people leave out the #. We've come to the point where we simply don't ship things anymore if people don't put a # down. All mail delivery companies are extremely strict with the # always being on it, as it means more work for them to actually find the number themselves. They can save time by not doing it, and simply return it instead. Saves them time, and earns them money. Its a win/win situation for them.

For the company shipping it, however, it means they have to spend more money, as they have to pay the return fee. That is, unless they have the customer pay it (which we don't).

Seriously, imagine it. With 100 people per day not writing a number on the package, and the return fee on a package can be as much as $15 in Sweden, for the kind of packages we send. That's $1500 per day paid in return fees alone for the company to pay, and we're a rather small company. It is also $1500 more the delivery company makes.

So yes, always include a #.

uuuhhhh, noooo... and I don't want to lol.

No, no you really don't.

On topic (sort of) I ordered something from Roots Canada the other day, and it got here in about a week. So things seem to be working fine on the American side of Canada Post.

Haha Gunk~
