I'm getting around to doing this.

I know it is hard and frustrating quest becasue of THFs (THFs need money too), this I can deal with cause I have all the patience in the world, but who knows, this quest just might push me over the edge, lol.

Any advice if you please, good places to to get key, good coffer spawnpoints to camp, description of your own experience would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

You are not going to like what I am going to say:

I cannot confirm this but when I went to Castle Oztroja to get the coffer key and coffer for my thief artifact pants, we had to go very high up in the castle. It is kind of scary to see that those mobs are easy prey to a lvl 75. She had to do Blizzard IV, sleep it, Fire IV, sleep it, thunder IV, sleep it, then some weaker spell to finish it off. Did I forget to mention recast of stoneskin and blink during the sleeps?

My treasure hunter II helped significantly....I got the drop after about 4-5 mobs. I was lucky because nobody was camping the coffer that day.

Here is a little good news: Up where those high lvl yagudo are, there is a bronze door in the back where, if you are able to flip the switch to open it, the door will open and behind that door is a little room that has no aggroe in it. This is a good place to take a breather or rest if needed.

I hope this doesn't discourage you, maybe there are lower lvl yagudo that drop the key.

I hope this helped in some way, good luck, and don't give up.

* Yagudo Assassin (Level: 64 - 72)
* Yagudo Conductor (Level: 63 - 67)
* Yagudo Flagellant (Level: 62 - 66)
* Yagudo Prelate (Level: 65 - 69)

Those mobs drop the key, considering their levels, it isn't surprising that they are EP to a 75 character.

Yeah, I knew the situation was pretty grim, but do I have to enlist high level help? Compared to other AFs this one just seems very unfair :evil:

Oh well

Nothing is going to discourage me though, if I could just get hold of a key I would be happy, then I could go and camp coffers at my leisure, most of the stuff in there aggros by sight, so as long as I keep invisible up I'll be okay. Ill prolly check the coffers on non-peak hours like :twisted: Monday :twisted: at 2:00pm or Tuesday.

youll definetely need help for those things and links can be a huge problem. Generally what i experienced in the past was get your LS and friends of friends and have a skillup PT. That way you can get lots of people for more kills and sometimes some nice spell drops (well i dunno prices anymore but its worth checkin out)

Then getting the coffer itself can be a big PITA.. for me I was with a pt of 5 and we saw the coffer but it was in the leech pool. We went for it aggro'ing all the leeches and eventually all the yags around it. During that time Heroe a very well known coffer hunter in Castle Oz showed up and was standing next to the coffer, but he actually waited and let me get my af pants. I gave him a hug <3

Good luck with your coffer key. Trust me when I say that every job has sucky AF key/coffer quests. I have personally been through all the Whm, Pld, Blm, Thf, Brd, and Sam coffer key hunts. I can tell you that the absolute worst is the SAM's coffer hunt in the temple of Ugglepleth (sp). Everything aggros on sight, which isnt so bad in itself, but you have to constantly go through door and a big pain in the ass gate which means dropping invis in a tightly packed hallway full of aggro'm mobs. Horrible horrible place.

Yes you must have high lvl help for the key (unless you have another job which can solo easy prey at 75, and you are just getting the key for another AF for another job).
Trust me, a lv75 BLM could barely solo these wihtout getting hit. I remember we got a link, and the two yagudo killed her in less than 7 seconds. Lucky for her, she has 4 Noble beds in her Mog House! @_@ :twisted:

Oh and I hate to bog you down with bad news...but I am a Thief, so I generally got coffer keys from oztroja and monastic cavern after about 4-6 mobs, perspectively. Treasure Hunter II would really help you.[/b]

Safest spot to camp is behind the door (with the trapdoor inside). It's about the only place in the area with no pops or wandering birdies.

The mobs are only a bit harder than other coffer mobs, but the main problem is that there are links all over the place, and you really don't want to be trying too many at once, so high levels will definitely help.

Hunting the coffer isn't too bad, because although there are usually a few thieves around, invisible will be all you'll need to avoid the mobs (so long as you stay away from the leech pool).

Bad thing is most mobs in there uses eighther ranged attacks (ninja) or spells (Brd, Blm). Mnks hit alot but they are overall weak. Hp wise is not that high but the trouble is pulling. So many of them start off with spells which can have a chance for the surrounding mobs to notice it and link. I can duo that place with my whm friend as a mnk but we have ALOT of trouble if there is more than 2links. And I mean it... alot of trouble -_-; Specially the day we had 2 blm adds nearly killed us...

I spent 3 days running up and down the spawn areas, noticing invisible thieves running past me at every pass, which probably ment they were picking the coffers when i was not around whenever the Coffer did spawn.

So what i did was i camped the spawn point in the very back. The one inside that Brass door, and spawns behind that statue.

- Listen to some music
- Chat with some friends
- Have a couple snacks (o_-)d

They say it can appear within 8 hours, On the most part that's unlikely. For me it took an hour and a half give or take.

So yeah, after 3 days of abuse. You might want to try my idea.

as above

hehe you think finding a pt for skillup is bad in castle oztroja, try building one for sea serpeant grotto, toraimarai canal and temple of uggalepih. Plus everone i asked to go there all refused anyways. Normally they will say what's up and when i mention those places, they'll say No thanks.
NO ONE EVER GOES TO THESE PLACES FOR SKILL-UPS!!!!!
hence i will never get my Summoner AF hands, legs and Body ever ; ;

I've been a couple times with some LS members and got the privalege of pulling. Easiest way I found was the make sure you have a clear path back and use Stun. At ~60 blm with pretty close to max Dark skill, it would keep them down long enough for me to get well out of range. That way, they couldn't cast any spells and just came running. Mind you, that was on 53-59 mobs, so I can't really say how it would work on key holders.

Don't ask me how I found that, I don't know.

For mine, go to the brass door for g3, where you drop down. set up camp there, then slaughter all the yag's you see. they will drop it sooner or later.. then for the chest either camp the spawn behind the statue, or, that spot and the 2 spawns outside of the door ^^.. goodluck. i got mine on my first spawn. THF's had nothing on me :D no offence or nething Mrs' and Sir's ^^;;

I'm in the same situation. I've been on three different occasions now. The first was with an alliance from one of the LSs I frequent, and we needed 8 keys -_- I got outlotted on the only one that dropped in 3 hours. I've spent prolly close to 8 hours fighting yags with TH2 in the pt and still lack my key. I'll probably get my Hat before my Tabbard at this rate, and that will look pretty ghetto. Me in my Tactician's Magician Coat and my pimp hat ; ;. I need my key /cry

I can't believe I didn't catch this the first time through. As a Thf, you should never have to worry about a key drop, just pick your AF coffers.

Also where you get the keys, theres a door behind which is a statue. A coffer spawns there and no mobs. So if you don't want to run around with rick of getting aggro, you can camp the coffer in that room safely if you want to wait some time.
