Changing Sky NM to ex/ra

khajit, the last paragraph was so off-topic, its not even funny.

RMT does serve a purpose. as stated above they can be a tremendous
time saver, why stand around loosing claim on something for
hours upon hours when you can pool money from your
Sky linkshell for the Ulli stone, 7,000,000 Divided 18+++ ways
for the alliance to fight Byakko is rougly 300K a head (23 people)
for some of the more well to do linkshells or business people thats
money well spent when you could be out meriting or whatever.

The same goes for regular NM/HNMs some of these bad boys
have a flat out awfull drop rate, but the RMTs are always there camping
They have a better chance of getting that drop. (law of averages
says the more you camp the higher the likelyhood of a drop)
Again, why spend hours camping something that has a god awfull
drop rate when you could simply farm something that has a less
high dollar drop and make the money to buy the item
in small bits rather in one big chunk.
Yes this means you have to shell out your hard earned Gil to
get these items, but what good is 80 biznillion gil if you dont
use it for the things you want/need?

This is only one possible alternative, the other is to camp it your
self. On a long enough time line you will get everything that you want,
some day the RMTs bots may fail or thier connection will wane,
or you will just be randomly standing in the right place when the NM
spawns on top of you, any number of a million things
can happen allowing you to claim/kill.

One thing though, think of it as a word of advice, do not
underestimate the RMT. They are not dumb/stupid, they
camp NMs for a living, they know spawn windows and
not all of them simply bum rush big baddies. A lot of the notable
faces that camp day in and day out are on oposite sides of the
RMT table, so they dont just compete against us but also
against one another.

As for an idea of how to fix Ulli. Let ulli spawn in any way
it wants to with the same drop rate. However, for those that
want to get the drop but not wast the hours camping. Make
a BCNM/KSNM battle avalible to the players that can not
devote hours and in some cases days to camping for a pop item.
Even fix the BCNM/KSNM to drop Multiple stones (Say 5 stones for
a group of 12).
With both Ulli droping a single stone and a BCNM/KSNM
dropping multiplestones, the ones RMT or other asshats
are selling will lose almost all value.

i agree with sphene on most of this (i mean, we need competition), except the bcnm ksnm part..... i dont think we need EVERYONE w/ all the good items... too many people to spawn gods will just overflow all the god fights there is(think of 1 group popping a god for 5 hours straight while your ls is waiting to pop it yourself)

For the short time I did sky, I didn't mind going to Ulli (this was before sky became apparently saturated with RMT). Run around in a big golem filled room, maybe get some exp, and I'd joke around with my friends in other sky shells. I don't mind losing a claim to some legit shell that is working for their gear just like me. Losing claim to some cheating douchebag that plays the game for a living tends to piss me off. I don't care if I can spend 300k or whatever and get to lot on the rare/ex drop. I'd much rather fight the NM myself and earn my gear properly, thanks.

Asides agreeing with this as a whole, I hafto add another comment...paying 300k per person for one Byakko pop. Think about that a moment. Paying other people...to play the game. Giving other people your gil...so you can play the game. Paying the people who are totally screwing up the game to begin with, thusly encouraging to screw over the game moreso...to play your game.

You're paying people not for an item, but to be able to actually fight a mob that isn't by any means inaccessable to the public, just overmonopolized by cheaters and bots. And why? Because crap like "it's only 300k per person" encourages them to do it to begin with. Barf.

I both understand and respect your position on the matter
and am quite pleased to see a detailed and thoughtful response
to the opinion I have expressed.
I respect the business mentality of the RMT groups.
The RMT companies have done what all real world business does,
they found a need (for Ulli stones) and have filled that need.

However, at the present time there is only a few things
that the player base within the game can do.
All of the sky linkshells that I know of all have the same policies
when dealing with the RMTs (grief them/mpk them/ steal)
That needs to stop, there needs to be an actual serious
group effort put forth by all Sky linkshells both NA and JP.
1) Do not buy the stones/seals/Osode/ect... from ANYONE
2) When witnessing the RMT at work everyone must make
a [GM]Call (yea I know its troublesome) but it is the only way to get
S.E. directly involved. I have spoken to [GM] staff before and been
told directly. The only way to make these people go away
is to put so many calls through the [GM] Desk that S.E. can
no longer turn a blind eye to the offenders.

I myself am no longer involved in Sky activity, I did not
find it to my liking. As I have said before if I wanted to be
surrounded by drama, I would call my family.
I will admit, I do have several friends within the RMT ranks
whom I cherish as I would any FFXI friend. However; I will
not forget those who have helped me to get where I am now,
and I will not forget their wants and desires.
I will remain out of sky and not take either side in the matter,
though I will offer suggestions to both sides.
Perhaps in so doing a sort of unusual co-existence can one
day happen where NA and JP players stand next to RMT players.
The money can be split and the Rare/Ex items can go to who
needs them. This is simply how things would work in perfect world,
I make it a habit not to step on the hopes and dreams of others
so I would ask anyone who reads this to show me the same
courtesy.

Sorry Sphene I can't agree with you here RMT has NO busines in sky Ulli used to not be a big problem until SE fucked up the spawn time now the RMT come there and add to our hedaches. Currently every RMT group up there has been seen cheating there is no defence for them they are a cancer and must be removed by any means possible. Not just making sure noone buys from them but anything goes MPK steal I don't care they need to be crushed. Coexistence is NOT an option.

I actully enjoy sky and I am a summoner meaing there is really nothing up there that is really useful for me yet i enjoy it up there. many players do I think making the drop rare/ex is a very bad Idea either Ulli's pop time needs to be set back like it used to or make Ulli a popped NM like Olla or BB.

Shame on shells who buy from the RMT since they just encourge more to come up there and cause even more problems. If you don 't have time to farm/camp them don't do sly it's that simple. Not every item in this game was ment for everyone to have it takes effort and work so either make time to do the work or go without the item but please don't encourage the RMT trash to camp Ulli even more.

I sometime wish Ulli had the ablitiy to charm then we could deal with the RMT on our own hehe

The thing I'm getting sick of most is Sphene's constant defending of RMT. Did you know the IRS is looking in to finding ways to tax MMORPG Items? Wonder the fuck why..

Could always look on the funnier side of it..I mean how shady does "I'm not directly supportive/involved with RMT but will defend them, tooth and nail" sound?

Most all of us know there's some poverty in China but RMT really isn't it. Not to mention, if we're gonna roll out the carpet for them just because they might live in a subpar environment, why not roll out the carpet for people who play that have their own worse, possibly fatal ailments i.e. cancer?

I got crappy lungs! Give me an E. Body, pa!

Well, I was going to make the accusation, but since it's not the FB I decided to hold that punch back.

{Hmmm.} *puts on the Jerry Springer mask for halloween* so... You mean to say, Skaw, that those who defend RMT are just as bad as the RMT themselves? What if i told you that we had an RMT just outside door number 1? Come on out!!

*big black guy walks out with sign on chest saying "I R Sellorz Da Gilz"*

Now you know why they wont talk back? Apparently he lost his comprehensibility when he went to jail and some guy named Bubba managed to bend him over. So now the Chinese put Big Deuces up to work without him even thinking twice about it. Common misconception that the Chinese are completely, and i mean COMPLETELY, responsible for this.

You can make any accusation you like Skaw, I am attempting
to not take sides in the RMT Vs Non-RMT debate since I have
friends on both sides. If you want to call me a Gilbuyer or
traitor or any number of other things then by all means do so.
I have been called most of those things before and am
past being bothered by them, perhaps you can come up with
a new type of accusation or insult?
But to retain the integrity of this thread and to and assure that
the rest of the QCDN community is able to read and possibly learn
from this thread I ask that you sling mud in Private Message.
The same goes for anyone else that feels the need to
"call me out" or tell me how wrong my opinion is.

Defend all the hell you want, it doesn't change the fact that RMT ruins games. If not through ingame economy and disrupting peoples enjoyment, then through what I mentioned previously. Last I checked, I don't live in the UK and having a new tax against having fun added isn't what I call "doing nothing harmless."

I know this is totally off topic but... Why do you format your posts like that Sphene? it drives me crazy :(

Also, why was this thread necroed after such a long time '-'?

Um... last I checked the RMT was not the IRS and federal government.
If you dont like a preposed tax then I sugest you become
involved politicaly.

You really aren't that bright, are you? The more people stress ingame currency to mirror real life currency in value(sellers/buyers,) the more interesting an idea of adding a virtual income tax becomes because it has an obvious applicable value to dollars.

I'm sorry Sphene, I have lost all respect I had for you. Can you not see RMT as a growing problem. How would you like if the government added more taxes to online gaming because of the large amount of RMT going on and the potential profit they can make off of this.
We play this game for fun, not to support someone who may be poor and/or may be in China. Your constant defending of the RMT can and probably already has caused a lot of legitimate players that have been fucked by RMT to also dislike you. So please, salvage your reputation and stop supporting the RMTs.
Oh and:

QFT!!!

hmm reminds me of when those puritans left england... oh wait! we cant split up the rmt and the legitimate players unless SE actually starts giving a sh*t

Here's my two-cents on the matter.

The sky LS I'm in was camping Ulli last night, and wonder upon wonders, he spawned within the first hour we were there. We got claim, and all was right with the world, until . . .

The frikkin RMT lagged us out so bad that we ended up dying, stole Ulli, then proceeded to do their usual shitty job of killing him softly with DoT for the next half hour.

Defend that, if you will, but know that these punks are gonna catch hell from me in every conceivable way for their piss-poor treatment of the legitimate player base.

Here's a novel concept: how about SE actually ENFORCE THEIR OWN FUCKING RULES!?

/rant

Sky sucks. Stop going.

I unserstand your frustration Gannon, however
if the community at large wishes to exclude me
from the End Game/Sky/Sea/CoP/ToAu
then that is thier choice.
To those who know me, and I mean really know me
my standpoint on RMT will not affect the relationships
that I have developed with people within the game.

As I have said before
I am not your enemy, but if you
must hate someone and lump them in with Rmt
you might as well focus your anger on me.

Ni Hao QCDN! Wo jiao Sphene. Nin hoa ma?

I have in the past, and I will in the future hunt along side men
and women whome I know to be honorable at thier core.
Which is far more than I can say for several people I know in the
game and on the boards.
I will as I have always act as a public servant, I will help anyone
in need to honor those whome have helped me to reach where
I am today.
I will aid each and every one of you should you need it, but should
you see me at a camp, then and only then will I be no friend to you,
in such a situation I will be one of them.
Let the flaming begin, I have grown enough as
a person, player and paladin to not to care.

Honorable as in using cheats and hacks to claim and kite, then dishonoring the agreement they enter into with SE every time they log on by engaging in an activity that blatantly violates the TOS and in the very strictest of terms might not even be legal, as they are profiting from someone else's intellectual property?

Forgive me if I can't see the honor in that . . . Think you could show it to me?

Furthermore, you speak of these individuals as if you actually know them in real life. If that's the case, then I can understand how you could see past the game to their cores, as you put it. If not, and you're basing your character assessment off of how they treat you, then answer me this: who isn't nice in return to those who help them? That's no blazing endorsement of their character.

On the other hand, if what you say is true about your being willing to help any and everyone, then you are, in my estimation, an honorable person. Unfortunately, you're lowering yourself by your defense and association with people who have never demonstrated anything even in the same time zone as honor, not in my presence, at least.

Though, if you'd like to provide some examples of their honorable behavior, I'm all ears.
