character transfer from one account to another??

my roommate has been playing on my account on ps2, but since i just got a 360, we wanted to get an account set up for him on ps2 and get his characters transfered to it so he doesn;t have to start over. has anyone done this before? i am sure i will have to call play online to get it done if its possible.

also, when i installed ffxi on my 360, i didn;t have to use any registration codes because of the ps2 ones on my account already. will we have to use my 360 registration codes for him once he sets up a new pol account? or should i use my 360 codes and let him use the ps2 one?

Your character isn't registered to the console or pc you playon, its registered to pol. So once you create an account you can login on any machine that has FFXI installed. Also your friend will need new codes and will have to pay 12$ a month as well if you both want to play at the same time, but if you want to put his character on your account then you want need the reg codes or anything like that, just add another content ID to the one you currently have.
 
I don't think that you can transfer a character from one account to another, especially since SE doesn't like even trading accounts. If you both want to play at the same time, one of you will likely have to start over on a different account.
 
I'm sure they wont allow this. sinse people will just transfer alot of accounts together, then SE will be getting paid less.
 
SE in the distant past did unofficially allow this(basically GM did it for you) but they won't at all anymore. A LS member and their sibling(also in the ls) were sharing a account back in the day and they got a GM to transfer one char to the second account which they had just bought so they could play at the same time. The GM did it but this is the only case I know of where SE/GM's did so. I would personally have been skeptical except I played with both before when they kept having to swap out and after playing with them simultaneously with the same chars.

Either way SE's official policy now is no character transfers. This is partially because of income issues as a earlier poster said but also partially game balance/exploit issues.
