Characters not loading up

I just installed ffxi on a six year old computer and it runs great no lag at all but no matter what I settings I adjust only my character loads up. Nobody appears in Whitegate at all even the npcs, I also can't target anything like doors and mobs won't load either...


Does anyone know how to fix this or at least what's causing it?


Computer spec if it matters:

Microsoft Vista
Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz (single processor)
2.75 GB of RAM
32 bit operating system
NVidia GForce 256 MB Video card


Ninja edit: After some digging around I'm starting to suspect my videocard. The driver they came out for it after Vista was release was never really 100% compatible. (I have issues running certain screen savers also). NVidia makes shitty drivers...

After a couple of failed driver upgrades, oddly enough the problem fixed itself.

Go figure.
